Catherine described herself as "the most vile wretch in the world" in her letter to Henry, but Henry was the real wretch for forcing that poor girl to go through all that suffering.

Even if there were no ghosts just the fact that you be there where 500yrs this poor child screamed for her life is just ... there are no words for it
YES! Exactly. No matter what one's religious beliefs are or whether they believe in ghosts, the idea of being there where it happened gives one goosebumps
He should have just banished or divorced her. She was way too young die. It was so sad that she was used for her beauty by all the men in life. She would have been happier if she was born in this century. SIX wrote a song about her describing how she was groomed by the men to do what they wanted.
I was standing there a month ago :(
I can just imagine her running through the corridor screaming while Henry chased her with a sword~

I passed out in the gallery of Hampton Court on a tour. I remember right before feeling absolutely terrified out of nowhere, not being able to breathe and feeling like I was ice cold. I thought that I had screamed because I heard a scream, but nobody else heard it. I found out later that this happens especially to women in the gallery.
That poor young girl, she must have been terrified.
I feel so sorry for Katherine Howard her whole life was awful, I just want to give her a hug. She was just a child.

I went to visit Hampton Court on a school trip when I was in year 6 (I was 10 years old) and I fainted in the haunted gallery. I remember the staff thinking I had low blood sugar and giving me chocolate to help me feel better. I later realised they were only telling me that so not to scare me! I can still remember the repressive, heavy feeling I felt there. It makes me feel headachy just thinking about it. Very strange indeed.
I’m in year 6 now and I came today it truly is a sight to marvel at isnt it
I don’t think I would have fainted but I didn’t come here sadly
You should post on the Anne Boleyn society page.
I was at Hampton court twice but can't say I felt any strange feelings there.
Maybe you're sensitive, Amber. The emotions were so heavy during times like those. The anguish, dread and fear inside those walls...ugh, I can only imagine.

Katherine Howard’s life was actually so tragic. Everyone cares so much about Anne Boleyn and her ordeal but Katherine Howard’s was so much more traumatic

Let's not compare them, they both died in horrible ways🤨
Katie Racklyeft, totally agree with your opinion. To me,Anna Boleyn was the worst wife that Henry had. Don't feel any sympathy for her,the Boleyn woman,i mean.
It's funny 'cause Anne Boleyn and Kathrine Howard were cousins, and Henry got them beheaded. Doesn't seem like he particularly liked that family.
My sister and I are from Indonesia and knew nothing about the hauntings in the gallery. We also did not know anything about the history of the gallery. The moment we stepped into the great hall my sister said to me, "I do not like it here. Let's go, " but I sensed nothing and said, "Oh just a little more," and coaxed her to go up the gallery. As we went up the gallery she became more and more uncomfortable and kept asking me to leave. Then when we reached the door to the chapel behind which the narrator says Henry was at prayers and at which Catherine was said to have been screaming and pleading, my sister became extremely upset and grabbed my arm pulling me out of that section of the palace very agitated telling me, "He was an evil, evil man! We must get out of here now! Right now."
Afterwards we visited a friend for tea and she told us that gallery was known to be haunted.
Wow, that must must have been terrifying. Thanks for telling us your story.
Wahh kakak pernah kesana toh😭
Henry was an evil sick fool. I have no regrets that America revolted and dumped those people.
I never ‘saw’ Catherine …. But as I came out of the upper Royal Chapel into the gallery I heard a frightening , long scream, and I went suddenly cold and got goosebumps down my arms. I thought the sound was from an audio that a lady was listening to close by. But when I asked staff, they told me there is no scream on the audio. I felt rather privileged to have heard her. 😌. I want to go back again.
Why would you think it was Catherine? Why are people so obsessed with celebrities? Many folk lived and walked among those corridors. What is it was a random chambermaid? 🤔
@@OzmaOfOzz So sad that you have to be so negative. I didn’t ‘think’ it was Catherine … the knowledgeable staff DID. The history of that exact area was explained to me. If you knew the facts as they do then perhaps you wouldn’t make such snarky troll comments

@@LadyShaz it wasn't a snarky comment, I'm just saying a lot of people died there, it could have been anyone, stop dramatising, thanks
How do you know the staff didn't lie about it not being on the audio?
If it buys into people's interests and intrigue, it could easily have been on the audio and the staff informed to lie about any inquiries?
You hear the scream, you ask the question and the 'knowledgeable staff ' get to impart that knowledge.
It's likely that the feeling of dread or anxiousness in that room that people get is likely from Catherine herself. They are feeling the same fear that she felt during this time in her life, or rather, nearing her inevitable arrest and execution.
Your Comment makes sense to nw. I live in a council tenement flat, and often sense the presence of the last tenant who died here. Allegedly his death was unexplained, but its almost as if he is trying to tell me someone was responsible. . It gets very cold sometimes,. 🤔
I agree with Nycot; spot on
I can’t even begin to imagine what went through her mind when she failed to reach Henry and she realized what was really going to happen. Poor Catherine; she needs everyone’s prayers. Poor, poor girl; no one deserves what befell her.
That’s very possible, the whole place felt really off when I visited a few weeks ago :/ an amazing place to visit though!
I felt that feeling of dread and heartbreak from Katherine. She didn't deserve what she went through.
I would LOVE to see Howard’s spirit. It seems her spirit needs someone to encourage her to be at peace.
If she screams it’s because her life was brutally ended too young.
I would not be frightened by that terrified young woman, spectral or corporeal, as I only feel pity for her awful situation.
Yes of course. But really she continues to scream because she experienced her death over and over again. Her spirit is trap and needs to be set free so she can rest in peace
Agreed!
I believe she needs our prayers for her to find peace.
@@ccasey1904 no, the place needs a priest.
Spirits aren't real
Poor young girl married off to an ageing, obese, stinking and diseased lecher old enough to be her father. How ghastly for her to have to submit to his advances 🤢 and then to be ‘murdered’ by him in a fit of pique and jealousy for seeking the lighter and more attractive company of her peers.
I despise Henry VIII as much as the next person, but I do believe the execution of Howard was against his true will, and more political than anything.
It is said that he forgave her past relationships, but having a wife who had an affair while with him would make him lose supporters both in court and among the people.
I probably would seek a hotter man if I was in KH’s shoes but I would use better precautions not to get caught.
I think I would rather see Anne Boleyn but either experience would be cool. I understand the feeling that some of you experienced. There is a haunted hotel near my home, and there is a room I cannot go into there.
While also daring her to object to his own infidelity.
@Nina chan Idk why she did do so though
Its crazy to wrap your mind around when you see shows and movies of historical figures that they were real people and lived their lives like anyone. I can imagine putting myself in her shoes, screaming down the hallway trying to save my life. Gives a sinking feeling, sense of dread thats just horrible.
And she was only 19!!
Poor girl
I doubt that Kathryn Howard ran hysterically screaming down the corridor, it was reported that she ordered the execution block be brought to her room the night before her execution,so that she could practice laying her head on it, i believe her request was granted, to me that doesn't sound like someone who would go hysterical. I went in Sept. of 2019 and I was standing in front of the picture of King Henry with Jane, Mary, Elizabeth, and Edward telling my cousins and aunt the story of Catherine Howard. Suddenly I got a chill and goosebumps on my arms and the hair on my neck stood up on end. I looked at them and asked if they felt it and they said no and sort of looked at me funny. I invited the Queens to show me a sign they were there. I asked them respectfully before I stepped into the castle. It was a bit of a scary feeling but it proved to me that they are still there.
That’s sad. They deserve to Rest In Peace.

This is the story which brought my attention to Tudor history. I was about 7 and was an advanced reader, so I was allowed to choose books for older children. I saw a book called The Haunting of Hampton Court and decided to read it. The picture I forged in my head as a child of Catherine running down the corridor screaming after Henry has never left me. Since then I became fascinated with medieval and Tudor history.
History is quite fascinating … I was also an advanced reader, so my historical interests also began quite early
I feel so bad about Katheryn Howard, i found out about her and the other five queens because of the musical SIX and ever since then i've been searching about them, Katheryn's story broke my heart, poor child
I went to Hampton Court multiple times growing up and it always ended the same way with me hearing her scream for her life. I swear that I saw the shadow of a headless woman at one point on the tour. Katherine Howard had the worst luck ever. I hope her and the other queens that haunt the court finally find peace and go to where they all deserve to be.
When we visited Hampton Court, I walked into one part and immediately got a strange cold, feeling like a shudder and exclaimed aloud "Oh dear, this has a weird atmosphere!" It cleared the room - and when I went over to see what the room was called it said "The Haunted Gallery"! I didn't see anything though.
Would love to go there some day. My late father was doing a TDY to England and Germany for the US Airforce. He got to the Tower of London, Hampton Court, and Windsor Castle. Never thought to ask him if he saw any ghosts there. Now maybe he didn't pick up on anything. He would sometimes tell ghost stories the family brought over from Germany, and he when someone in the family would die, would hear in his dream a beautiful woman singing. His mother and her Aunt louise also would have death dreams in regards to relatives passing. So you would think he might have experienced something, but maybe he didn't get to the Haunted Gallery.
You felt something though.
Still, it must have been a creepy feeling. Thanks for telling this story.
I would absolutely love to be able to work at Hampton Court Palace and maybe be able to see any Tudor era royalty. I think it would be absolutely amazing lol

I went on a school trip to Hampton Court Palace in Year 6. Me and my mum are super into paranormal, and my mum had always heard about ghost stories from Hampton Court Palace, and was so jealous when I came home with the letter saying we were going there. The night before my visit, me and my mum sat and read through the ghost stories from the place together… the one that remained etched in my mind the most out of any of the others was this one, Catherine’s story. The next day, when me and my year group visited the Palace, we had a guided tour. I remained stood in the Haunted Gallery by myself while my school group moved on, because I wanted to take it all in and hopefully feel, see or hear something. As I looked at a portrait of Henry VIII, I suddenly heard this loud, wailing scream, and the sound of heavy footsteps, like someone running. I looked all around the gallery in a panic, but I couldn’t see anyone or anything there. Suddenly the screaming and footsteps stopped, and one of my teachers had realised I was missing, and came back to get me. I remember her saying to me “Come on, Lucy, you’ll miss the rest of the tour! You can have some free time to come back to the Gallery later!” (After the tour, we would be aloud to go off in small groups to the parts of the Palace we were most interested in if we wanted to, before we got back on the bus.) I asked her if she had heard what I heard, because it sounded too loud for her to have not heard it, and she said no, and asked me what it was. I described it to her, and her face looked in shock for a second, before she seemed to quickly compose herself and said “Come on now, we’ll lose the others!” And grabbed my hand and led me back to the rest of the group.
I told my mum my experience when I got home, and she confirmed what I had already spent the entire rest of the day thinking it was: I had experienced Catherine Howard’s ghostly last call for help in the Haunted Gallery.
It was like Catherine was screaming for help because when I was walking down those halls exploring and stuff, I heard guards running and Catherine screaming I was really scared but my mom went to explore with me
That must have been terrifying. Thanks for telling your story.
When can we call him a murderer and face up to Reality?
Been doing that for years
A Priest or a Christian can go to this palace and have prayers said to quiten the spirit of this young woman, and to be given peace. Henry was a womanizer, a domestic violent tyrant and that is why he had no airs that survived. He put a curse on himself, full of himself.

I'm a huge Tudor fan and I would love to see either Anne Boleyn's ghost or Katherine Howard's ghost. For Katherine's spirit, I always thought her to be trying to find help and forgiveness from Henry and everyone else that was around her. Not to mention that Catherine was younger than his eldest daughter! If it was me, I'd never see anyone younger than my kids, that's just disgusting.
So, it's a terrifying thing to witness Katherine Howard's distressed spectral image screaming along the corridor seeking help from the King himself, is it? Not from my point of view, it isn't! The only really terrifying aspect of this was the appalling circumstances that led to her despicable early demise. It's not any astral entity 'replay' we need to fear, folks. It's the living ignorance of those behind such tragedies as this.
The irony was...NOT ONE of the men accused along with Anne Boleyn-with the exception of Mark Smeaton the musician who, because he was of low rank, and could legally be tortured to extract a confession testified against Anne. The others, to a man, stood up for Anne's innocence and went to the block still defiant, declaring their and Anne's innocence.
As for Catherine Howard, the 3 men accused with her: Dereham; Culpepper and Mannox blamed each other, blamed Catherine, blamed Jane Rochford, Anne Boleyn's brothers widow whose testimony threw Anne and her brother George both under the bus. They accused Catherine of seducing them...Catherine Howard inspired NONE of the loyalty and devotion her cousin Anne--who was totally innocent--had.
well, the men who were accused of sleeping with anne were close to her. one of them was even her younger brother. the men accused of sleeping with katherine simply used the poor girl. they didn't care about her.
I wouldn't take that as proof for C's guilt.
It's unlikely George Bolyens widow was the one to betray them. By all accounts they had a happy marriage and she got on with her sisters in law
Plus it wouldn't have benefited to be a turncoat , she would loose everything . Not much motivation there .
Like with Katherine of Howard she was most likley a scapegoat .

Reevaluating history, it seems clear that Henry VII suffered a skull fracture while jousting and exhibited all the symptoms of what would now be diagnosed as brain damage. And Henry
On an Aside, I adore that blonde historian lady
Shes a great orator
Very intelligent and pretty
I loved it. The trees outback are shaped like giant Hershey's kisses
Poor girl.
I'VE BEEN THERE!!! SO GORGEOUS!
I went there the other day and it was so atmospheric!
when and if i ever go to london i’m coming to this palace so i can attempt to speak to Katherine and Jane (and maybe more)! Katherine did not deserve all the traumatic experiences in her life leading to her death
katherine howard roams those halls, knowing that was the one place she had a chance of redemption. she might think the king is still there, and she is still begging for forgiveness after 5 centuries.
But why there? She was actually the happiest when she was at Hampton Court. Her ghost should be in the Tower of London, or in the remains of Winchester Palace, or maybe even where the Syon Abbey was- those are the places where she truly suffered... She was at Hampton Court just after the wedding, so she probably loved every second of it!
@@perunlowtuned perhaps
i understand that every winter while Henry the 8th lived there about 6oo cart loads of fire wood was burned in the fire places at Hampton Court Palace
Really y
I would say so,the fireplaces are enormous as all Tudor fireplaces were, The ovens in the kitchen are enormous, and remember modern chimneys hadn't been invented
I would say possibly more, there were dozens of occupied riomsnot to mention the huge kitchen with several fireplaces
He was a total waste of time and energy.
i used to live in Kingston upon Thames. Very close to HP. I visited several times and never felt ANYTHING!
U know alot of games was played with this king especially when it came to women women were victims most of the time
I'm sure he was not the best in bed for all the chasing he did
His weight and his own stench kept him vomitus but he considered himself the cats meow
Unbelievable
It is amazing that not only Anne Boleyn but also Catherine Howard appears now as a ghost. Anyway, All because of Henry VIII.
That poor, poor babygirl. There are no words.
If there were anyone to be able to talk to Catherine's ghost we'd be able to here her story...
It’s the kitchen that always gives me the creeps there.
I went to Hampton court and before I went to the haunted gallery I was fine all jolly but after I went in the haunted gallery I was so energyless I felt I’ll and had head aches
I am psychic and I know Catherine Howard walks and is not at peace. I have picked up on a few other spirits but I know that’s not all of them.
Yeah nice lies
What about Anne Boleyn?? Did you go to the tower of London??
How does she find peace?
This sounds like a job for
✨✨Ghost Adventures✨✨😂
Zac, the main guy, is afraid of flying
That would be so great! Though I doubt it would be allowed being it's a protected historic place.
They wouldn't be allowed
I'M ZAC BAGANS
I NEVER BELIEVED IN GHOSTS
UNTIL I CAME FACE TO FACE WITH ONE
I feel Kathryn's pain aswell. Hope you get better cuzzy.
Katherine Howard suffered so much for so long only to die at the hands of a murderer Out of all Henry’s wives, Katherine Howard had it the worst in my opinion
I think the amazing but the saddest thing about Catherine is that she is Anne Boleyns cousin who suffered the same fate as her. Although she had a swordsmen for her execution they both died in the same manner. Anne was said to be loose with her morals (which is led to be believed as false accusations) and that was used against her. With Catherine she was loose with her morals but was a victim of predators. Very sad that their families used them for their own selfish gain.
I wonder if the hauntings take place on the anniversary. I spoke to a Beefeater once who told me of a recent haunting at the Tower of London. A bear, of all things.
That must be the poor polar bear that Henry VIII had it used to swim in the Thames tied to a big chain or rope 😒
@@bunnykeats5574 There were never any bears kept at Hampton Court. The first menagerie was kept at the tower of London. The bears were allowed swim in the most, not on a chain, but caught a disease and died.I am almost sure this was after Henry's time
@@laurielovett8849 the 1200s to 1835, the Tower housed a menagerie of exotic wild animals, never before seen in London, including lions and a polar bear given as royal gifts
@@laurielovett8849 i was referring to the polar bear that swam in the river Thames i didn't say Hampton court
@@bunnykeats5574 Could be, I never heard of bears being kept at Hampton Court
I walked up and down the corridor hoping for an experience of CH!! Unfortunately none for me!!
Imagine if Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard were never killed by Henry and were only given a divorce and when Henry died what would have happened to them in Edward and Mary reign would they be able to
Make it to Elizabeth reign they might even gain power again
They would have been exiled to convents abroad so might not have been seen again. Katherine would have been in disgrace given there is no doubt she did was a woman of ill repute, even if her stepdaughter was on the throne she would be a shamed woman. Anne would have been allowed back with open arms- being the mother and all
@@MsJubjubbird oh so would they have to leave the country is Mary was queen because they could have been killed if they stayed longer in England when Mary was queen
@@raumaanking yes that too. Mary might have had Anne executed for treason, saying she pushed the anointed queen off the throne. Katherine would have been exiled in disgrace and certainly not welcome at court
@@raumaanking plus with Anne alive, Mary and Elizabeth may not have been so close initially
gain power, by marrying who?
This was an interesting video.
I was at Hampton Court with my husband and 2 children, we were in the haunted gallery, they went ahead and I was on my own I knew the history of the gallery and suddenly it went cold and I felt somthing near me I ran so fast to get to my husband I almost fell over, the feeling in that place was awful😭
I would love to walk those halls. If it is haunted, they will come to me. It always happens when I go to those places.
@GaunletofDestruction There are many personal reasons as to why I would never do that. For me, there are more aspects of life that are more about living in peace fewer aspects that involve money or gain of any sort.
Deviates from ghost story to a history lesson
It wouldn’t shock me if Hampton Court was haunted.
She was truly a child forced by domineer uncle and men.such a shame. For Catherine
