Thank you for the video. Windsor Castle is so beautiful and so powerful. My sister traced our lineage to England for a class project. Thank you for a wonderful tour and just perfect for those of us who are missing the opportunity to travel. I have visited Windsor Castle twice, the first time was while the restoration was happening after the fire. At the time it was devastating to see the damage and many of the works of art in the surrounding rooms had been moved to safety. One of my lasting impressions was what on the walls behind where the paintings normally hung in the Waterloo Chamber. When the paintings were removed for safe keeping during WW2 the spaces were filled with colourful drawings, commissioned I believe by a young Elizabeth. When I returned almost 20 years later it was amazing to see the rooms restored to their former beauty but I couldn't help but remember what lay behind the art masterpieces. I loved your tour. It was amazing to see the castle minus the crowds so you could really appreciate its magnificence.

I visited Windsor on my 2nd trip to London. We did book a bus tour and I loved our guide. He was a retired teacher and knew current world history as well. He was quite entertaining. This was in 2012, btw The funniest thing was that Windsor was our only stop and he promised us a leisurely tour. However, we arrived at the same time as several bus loads of French school girls and he wanted to beat them to the queue. We went literally running up the hill and we were on a dead run the rest of the time, haha. Would love to go back for that leisurely tour instead! Thanks for this one!
What a beautiful tour! Windsor is such a gem of a town, and the castle itself incredible! No wonder HM The Queen prefers to call it home in her later years. Thank you Sinead x
My dearest Sinead: I hope you realize how important your *service* is to those of us who can't possibly experience these amazing historical places in person. As a now 72-year-old "royalist/monarchist" since 2016, I've been obsessed with UK's history! A correspondent of mine asked, "Just a curious question - what turned you into such an enthusiastic royal Anglophile?" It all started when the *VICTORIA* TV series was released here in the US ... which sadly ended unfinished without explanation. Then came the controversial *THE CROWN* series.🤔 The two show's Facebook fan groups inspired more research. Everything I've discovered since has been overwhelmingly fascinating ... and now here's YOU! 🤩👏👏👏 One more thing: That tiny out-of-sight niche in St. George's Chapel where King George VI, Queen Mother Elizabeth & Princess Margaret are interred is pathetic! It's difficult for me to accept the idea of placing Prince Philip & Queen Elizabeth II there! 🤨
As it was explained at the time of Prince Philip’s funeral service, this is only a temporary holding place for King George VI, the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and Prince Philip. When Queen Elizabeth II passes, they will all of them be moved to a mausoleum on the grounds of Windsor Castle named in honor of the Queen’s father.
@@vernitasafford2379 Dear Vernita: Thank you. I don't recall the mentioning of an eventual standalone *mausoleum* for all 5 of them at the time of Prince Philip's funeral or that it would be dedicated to George VI. In my search for confirmation to your statement, the only thing that came close was/is: *Q* "Will the Queen be buried in a mausoleum?" *A* "Queen Victoria and her beloved Prince Albert are buried together in a mausoleum in the Windsor Castle gardens, so the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh may have opted for a similar arrangement. Apr 17, 2021." I may not be alive to see the finale and must trust Charles to make it glorious ... hoping that he names it for his mother, UK'S longest reigning monarch and in 2 year's time, God willing, the WORLD'S longest!
Newest admirer of your page and I’m absolutely glad I’m here. I love how you not just show the views but you also talk about the great history behind these greats castles. So, I thank you for that. Great work 💚
Just came across your tours. We are Americans who have been to London and Oxford. I so enjoyed this tour. All television coverage of Windsor is close up shots, not allowing for the grandeur of the grounds of this magnificent castle. Thank you for your extensive walk. At my age, I’m not sure I could navigate all that you do, thank you from Arizona!
Windsor Castel is on my bucket list, history at its best. Sinead, as you walk around it's amazing to see so much craftsmanship, to see all the work done over those many years is really a sight. Thank you for such an enjoyable tour through Windsor Castel, you have a way of making a good day even better. Have you ever got to meet with Queen Elizabeth?
I love watching your videos they are very professionally done and your knowledge of London's History and Geography is second to none, please keep it up, and all the best, from Kenya.
I’m so glad you mentioned the doll house! I visited Windsor Castle in the summer of 1969 with a dear friend as we were making our way up to Scotland after studying in France. There is so much to see at Windsor, even if the royal family are in residence, which they were at the time. The only thing I can distinctly remember about it is the doll house and the room where it was kept. I’d love to see a video of it!

@@ToursbyFootLondon Yes I am sure...but will definitely wait for this pandemic to disappear before returning to England! I have been to most of the touristy highlights, want to visit some out-of-the-way sort of places! May want to walk along Hadrian's Wall or visit the little town (if it exists) that was made famous by James Herriot.
Beautiful tour. The HD video is a treat to watch. I went to Windsor Castle 8 years ago and was able to climb the Round Tower but St George’s Chapel was closed, so I’ve never seen the Horseshoe Cloisters. I think you mixed up George IV and William IV a couple of times. You called Princess Charlotte the daughter of William IV, she was the daughter of George IV.
I certainly did say the wrong King apologies for the slip of the tongue I’m planning to go back hopefully and schedule a tour of the Round Tower , how was it ? Sinéad
@@Sineadlondontourguide Hi Sinead. They made the point that the Round Tower is actually the “D shaped tower”. And that we shouldn’t take pictures of the Upper Ward because it’s the private residence of HM. The view is great of course and you feel like you’re retreating into a keep under siege because it seems like it’s as it’s always been. Also George IV built it up and added machicolations because it wasn’t “fantastic” enough for him.
This was sensational. There are only two places I've always wanted to visit and they are England and Scotland. Now I don't have to because you have shown me what I've always wanted to see. I often wondered what the grounds of Windsor Castle looked like and where the Queen stays while there. Thank you so, so much for the tour! I'll definitely be watching your other videos. A very good tour. How did you manage to film inside? Did you just grab some shots because there were no attendants? Btw, the surname of the artist Anthony van Dyck is pronounced dike.
You know I struggled with that pronunciation , All I kept thinking of was Dick Van Dyke and as that was spelt differently I assumed It was as I said I’m so confused lol but thank you Stephen for clearing that up for me Trust me I would have felt more comfortable with Dike 😊 Sinéad
The only reason she has not been back to Buckingham is because that Palace is undergoing a giant renovation and until it is complete, I believe in 2023, it is safer for her to remain elsewhere. HM is currently in residence at Sandringham until at least ascension day and is fully expected to return to London for her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

We love it when the locals approve, Peter! Thanks for watching :)
This was phenomenal! I love tours like this. One day I hope to see that beautiful palace in person.
We hope you get to see it, too, DeAnna!
Another wonderful video Sinead. I sit here on a very cold Chicago night with hopes that I will soon be back visiting London my favorite city. Your videos fill me with hope, happiness and wonderful memories. Thank you

MY QUEEN SINEAD! I loved my tour in london during my study abroad program. Your Jack the Ripper tour was OUTSTANDING. Thank you for helping me make an unforgettable memory! Much love from Connecticut!
Thanks for watching, Lauren! If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
Very engaging! I felt like I was there. Such a nice thing you do, especially for those of us who probably will never have the chance to visit the UK. it is the next best thing. I've seen many pictures of the area, but to have a walking tour while showing the smaller shops and areas that most people might not.....it's like walking through my own city. I can imagine myself there and it's very real. Thank you!
Glad that you enjoyed the video. It's our pleasure to bring a bit of London/England to you. If you haven't done so already, you can hopefully check out our back catalogue of virtual London tours ruclips.net/user/FreeToursbyFootLondonvideos. There is more of Sinead where this came from.
I used to live in Windsor as a child as my father was stationed at Victoria Barracks. Fun to see how little it has changed.
Time truly does stand still there Caroleann
Thanks for watching

I visited Windsor on my 2nd trip to London. We did book a bus tour and I loved our guide. He was a retired teacher and knew current world history as well. He was quite entertaining. This was in 2012, btw The funniest thing was that Windsor was our only stop and he promised us a leisurely tour. However, we arrived at the same time as several bus loads of French school girls and he wanted to beat them to the queue. We went literally running up the hill and we were on a dead run the rest of the time, haha. Would love to go back for that leisurely tour instead! Thanks for this one!
Sherrie I can totally relate
How many times I ran people up that hill to get in front of other groups 😂😂

What a beautiful tour! Windsor is such a gem of a town, and the castle itself incredible! No wonder HM The Queen prefers to call it home in her later years. Thank you Sinead x
My pleasure as always my lovely
Sinéad
Yeah, and it's such a beautiful yet saddening Irony that the Queen spent her childhood youth, to her Burial at Windsor.
One more thing: That tiny out-of-sight niche in St. George's Chapel where King George VI, Queen Mother Elizabeth & Princess Margaret are interred is pathetic! It's difficult for me to accept the idea of placing Prince Philip & Queen Elizabeth II there! 🤨
Thank you so much for the support!
In my search for confirmation to your statement, the only thing that came close was/is:
*Q* "Will the Queen be buried in a mausoleum?"
*A* "Queen Victoria and her beloved Prince Albert are buried together in a mausoleum in the Windsor Castle gardens, so the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh may have opted for a similar arrangement. Apr 17, 2021."
I may not be alive to see the finale and must trust Charles to make it glorious ... hoping that he names it for his mother, UK'S longest reigning monarch and in 2 year's time, God willing, the WORLD'S longest!
Newest admirer of your page and I’m absolutely glad I’m here. I love how you not just show the views but you also talk about the great history behind these greats castles. So, I thank you for that. Great work 💚
Welcome to the channel, Ven!
Mary thank you sincerely for the lovely comments
Delighted we can bring it to you virtually x

Windsor Castel is on my bucket list, history at its best. Sinead, as you walk around it's amazing to see so much craftsmanship, to see all the work done over those many years is really a sight. Thank you for such an enjoyable tour through Windsor Castel, you have a way of making a good day even better. Have you ever got to meet with Queen Elizabeth?
Ah bless you Mike always so gracious thank you . It truly means the world

My mom and I visited London and Windsor Castle in the 1980s. It was a fabulous trip!
Come back and see us!
Thank you Sinead, I'm going there in 2 days time so watched to prepare myself for what will be a wonderful if sad day remembering our sweet amazing Queen

'Twas a soft day here at the Jersey shore, so I spent the day with Sinead's wonderful videos playing in the background on the big screen TV whilst I wrote another few chapters for the book I'm writing. Made for a proper inspiration with a pot of Barry's alongside a scone slathered with Bewley's champagne and strawberry jam.
Oooooh that sounds perfect, Al!

It's not the monarch's property. It's mine. And every other UK citizens' as it is owned, like Buckingham Palace, by the state.

Thanks Sinead 👍🇬🇧♥️

@@ToursbyFootLondon Yes I am sure...but will definitely wait for this pandemic to disappear before returning to England! I have been to most of the touristy highlights, want to visit some out-of-the-way sort of places! May want to walk along Hadrian's Wall or visit the little town (if it exists) that was made famous by James Herriot.
Had visited the Windsor Castle in October 2021 and taken the audio guided tour of the State Apartments… Loved the video as it made me very nostalgic…
How lovely delighted it brought back lovely memories

Beautiful tour. The HD video is a treat to watch. I went to Windsor Castle 8 years ago and was able to climb the Round Tower but St George’s Chapel was closed, so I’ve never seen the Horseshoe Cloisters. I think you mixed up George IV and William IV a couple of times. You called Princess Charlotte the daughter of William IV, she was the daughter of George IV.
I certainly did say the wrong King apologies for the slip of the tongue
I’m planning to go back hopefully and schedule a tour of the Round Tower , how was it ?
Loved this tour
Delighted you enjoyed it Louise

Just loved this brought back great memories of my visit to Windsor Castle in 2009 🇦🇺💙
This was sensational. I subscribed! 🙂

What makes Windsor special is that it is a working royal palace , and not a museum .
Thank you for this tour. I went there on a bus tour a few years ago and we really didn't get to experience any of the town. You detailed many things that I didn't discover while I was there. I have heard that the Queen is now permanently residing at Windsor and doesn't plan to return to Buckingham. Amazing woman.

I had no clue how HUGE the castles are! My perspective is just of the front from pics. No idea of how many rooms, buildings, parks, roads, shops, apartments for staff of workers.

A very good tour. How did you manage to film inside? Did you just grab some shots because there were no attendants? Btw, the surname of the artist Anthony van Dyck is pronounced dike.
You know I struggled with that pronunciation ,
All I kept thinking of was Dick Van Dyke and as that was spelt differently I assumed It was as I said
I’m so confused lol but thank you Stephen for clearing that up for me
Trust me I would have felt more comfortable with Dike 😊

Another fab tour, thank you, Sinead. Really enjoyed this, you were great as usual!

I am sure the queen will remain at Windsor for her life. She left London in 2020 and not been back.
Wonderful tour! ❤
