- You guys know I'm a big fat drama queen, so when I hear speculative news like this, I LATCH onto it!
According to our favorite Chicagoan Rolex enthusiast and dog sensei, Rolex is planning on discontinuing the much beloved Tiffany/ Turquoise Blue Oyester Perpetual!
Now, we don't know if it's just the OP41, or if it's just the Turquoise Dial, but Marc Goldberg has been right in the past, and his sources have turned-out to be credible. SOooOoO idk man. I'd hate to see the watch axed. But Rolex works in mysterious ways, and maybe they've got even better tricks up their Swiss sleeve!
Here is a link to Marc Goldbergs video:

Somewhere in the next 6 to 12 months I’m either going to look very smart or very stupid lol let’s stay tuned to see which.
Great fodder either way!
I was told by my AD when picked mine that they may be discontinued soon. I did not pay attention to it at that time but I dont think you are going to be wrong. You might be responsible for a shitstorm on the secondary market though 😂
You saying steel wolex will discontinued since 2017 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
the milgauss is youthful and quirky but mostly overlooked
Do you think all colors will be discontinued or turquoise only?
"Nasty yellow", dude the yellow dial is my favorite.
Lol my b
Totally nonsense- it’s just to create more hype and justified his decision to pay double retail for a entry level model.
You can say that again.only knuckleheads pay twice the price for a Rolex.
I can't see why Rolex would discontinue just that 1 dial colour after 15 months of the release. I wouldn't be surprised if this rumor was started by a grey dealer to boost prices just like they did with the Platona in April. Then again Rolex does what ever they want and anything is possible.
Interesting theory, I didn't think of that. It's very possible.
Rolex wants as many men's watches rare and unavailable and desired as possible, because keeping that perception of the brand, and the highly valued secondary market, allows them to get Rolex's real customers; the authorized dealers, to buy lots of non-high-demand qualifying pieces to be able to get allocated a few of the in demand models.
The more in demand models they can create, the better from their standpoint.
How do Rolex make any money from a high secondary market then?
@@borjastick it makes it easier to sell more units and ensures stability and higher retail prices.
Which exactly are the non-high demand pieces?
The Tiffany blue model is hideous. For a few people and women maybe, but... Why men would be discussing this is confusing.
@@AcmeRocket You think it's a bit gay or too feminine do you?
In my opinion 36mm red and yellow was the best. Too bad they are discontinued. Do you think Rolex will bring them back at some point?
I liked the yellow too.
Idk, tbh, I don't really understand this move by Rolex. Was it always their own to discontinue then after only a year? Did they do it as a response to the hype? I really don't know.
I agree with everything you say here. But the cynic in me just feels this talk of discontinuing OP watches is market manipulation. Maybe Goldberg has a couple OPs in the safe, who knows?
Yeah I hear you. And yeah he just bought the Turquoise....for 17k!!
I linked his video in the description. He paid over 3x retail lol
Remember mark Goldberg did say about 6 months ago that he did expect Rolexes to become harder to get and prices to go higher and he was correct, BUT I'm not giving you 20 grand for an OP
@@bgandjsco1 lol.. everyone who’s into watches, especially Rolex, have been saying that over a couple years now.
I was fortunate to pick up the Coral Red OP 41 at my AD. When they called me to pick it up they asked to see it on as they hadn't seen another Red OP 41. I visit with my AD about every 4-6 weeks, just building and maintaining relationship. They shared they haven't received any other OPs since Feb of this year. I doubt that they discontinue any of these, unless there is a manufacturing issue that makes production highly complicated.
And I dont think these "Stella" OPs are just for entry level or beginner watch buyers, most serious collectors I know have one or are waiting for one from their AD. These have a fairly universal appeal.
I think these rumors are as accurate as the rumors that the James Cameron DSSD or the John Mayer Daytona were going to be disconitnued.
I love the turquoise and my AD told me that the waitlist is so long that by the time I’m in a position to buy, it will be discontinued. Rick was talking about 4 or 5 years down the pike.
Jeez, that's too long. I hope you get one sooner!
04:42 remember the good old days when it was "ONLY" 20k....
Anything steel is sold before it hit’s the display case! I haven’t even seen a Yatchmaster II in the case for over a year! The golden age for Rolex was when they were tool watches and not an investment class. I would never pay 18k for an OP. My Rolex guy told me my dj41 has over a year waiting list. The watch market in general is too crazy now. I’ll enjoy what I have and just walk away 😎!
I agree man
There is now only one type of Rolex watch: one that you never get from ADs
If they discontinue the Tiffany dial, it’s due to stupid demand for the 41mm. Many people are not asking for other colors as much as the blue dial. Rolex might not want to have left over unsellable colors. Even though anything Rolex makes people will buy. Rolex is always playing it safe. Usually Rolex will give a dial color 3-5 years production time. These new OP dial colors were a chance for Rolex help bring the OP line back in the spotlight. Attract new clientele, and perhaps help ease the demand for steel sports professional models. Once they finish OP color dials. It would be nice to see the Date Just with these color options. I hope they keep the 36mm Tiffany dial.
This does not make sense. If Rolex are trying to discourage the grey market, then removing popular models after a year or two only makes it more hyped and encourages the flippers to buy more, rather than the people who want to enjoy them.
Just bought an OP with the pink face from an AD in St. Thomas in October and paid suggested retail price. No one mentioned that the model was going to be discontinued. In the past, my AD has told me if a model I was looking at buying was going to be discontinued. It will be interesting to see what the future brings.
For your sake I hope they do discontinue it!
I'm just not paying 3x or 4x retail. I've payed above retail with my grail watches, but even then sometimes i feel like a fool for playing the game. Believe me when i say i would pay 9 g for it but this is getting ridiculous. Without getting too deep into economics The United states has increased its money supply by 335% in the last year alone and that money has worked its way into Crypto ,Real estate ,Stocks and YES WATCHES. Back in 05 when we were in another bubble, i used to watch a Classic car /Exotic car/Antique car Auction on tV called Barrett Jackson. Cars that were bringing in 250 grand in 2005 were buyable for under 100 grand in 2009 SO ANYBODY WHO THINKS THIS IS NOT A BUBBLE has never seen a bubble in action. Now lets face it you should not be buying a watch if you want a guaranteed return on your money but that is not how most people think
I got a black entry level new rolex Perpetual 28 mm female in 2021
4050 will wait never worn it in box with all warranty, seal etc, will keep and see what happens?? I got mine at a rolex shop took two months and very nice service
That's a fantastic watch, congrats!
Perfect size for ladies, imo.
Listen it's not going to explode in value, simply because it's not a watch fit for the prominently male market.
But it'll hold it's value, and you can get out of it if you need to. Not to mention, it's beautiful. Conservative, extremely classy, 😍
just order a regular color dial op from ur ad or buy the cheapest color and swap the dial at service to turquoise if u really like it
That's what I'm hoping I can do, but what if they say No?
@@DrRolexPhD why would they say no they keep a reserve if all the dials even dating back to 90’s
Even a great purchase history cant get this tiffany blue.. my sales associate told me a year ago she will cal me. Year passed still havent got it SMH. in NYC area they give it to the super VIP top dog level. Not regular VIP.. there are levels . Smh
Dang, well, I'll pray to the Rolex gods for you!
@@DrRolexPhD i put my peace on it. Im Not getting the call.. there are lots of super VIP above me . I stop stressing it out . lol
@@watchPaige hey! I've picked mine today. Signed back in february. Poland AD
@@pioleq nice! Congrats!
Well discontinuing this should lower the price on the secondary market right??? Lol I sold well traded my 41mm green OP a year ago for an amazing vintage five digit sub!!
RESPECT.
Rolex OP doesn't represent entry level at all for me, I have a submariner but I think these OPs are the vest watch Rolex make
The yellow dial too !!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhh
I think these colors were meant by Rolex to be available for rich young tourists and casual shoppers who would have no knowledge about anything other than the name Rolex and be "impulse" purchases. I do not think when they were in development ( before Covid) they would have anticipated that these would be being snatched up by dealers and hyped to the stratosphere. Maybe I am being naive, but I think this was just a move by them to keep reaching younger non-watch buyers. As for me, I don't care either way, but obviously I'd like you to be able to get the green one you want. ( the intro of Mark's episode was hilarious)
Lol I know, that was funny.
One theory I've heard is that the grey dealers are trying to increase the hype and increase the price of the Tiffany's. What do you think about that?
@@DrRolexPhD oh cmon. Of course they are. Selling them back and forth between each other. Just like all the other super hypes

I got my OP39 White just at the cusp of the OP hype clusterfuck a few years ago.
I don't quite understand the motive behind the discontinuation of the OP41 Turquoise.
I don't understand it either. Was this always their plan? Is this just a response to the hype?
Well, regardless, congrats on the white dial. That's my favorite of the bunch, even among the turquoise and such.
Mate I think you need to get a grip
$20k for a pretty color entry level Rolex, no thanks
Rolex are taking us for mugs
Personally I love the sd43
Now that's a killer watch
If they introduce a new color, and discontinue (any of them) - then collectors are on notice: these are limited time releases...even the new release color....and you better get them now....driving the grey market through the roof
Yeah but, one year only? Crazy!
@@DrRolexPhD Think of the frenzy; 1) For the disontinued color, 2) For the rest of them,,OMG - which color will be the next to be discontinued and 3) For the new color release, get it before its dicontinued
Yeah it'll be a goatrope for the ages!
It’s not entry level anymore, and Rolex cancelling a model the ADs can use to empty the jewelry store is very unlikely. I think Cellini date and the base time only are more likely to get the way of the dodo (that’s what Edgar the Jeweler claims).
Thanks for the video. What do you think about the silver one with gold markers?
My pleasure!
You know, I actually really like that one. It's unique as hell. I'd buy it if they offered it to me (well obviously. I'd buy any Rolex offered at retail). But I'd be happy about buying it, excited.
Get any OP ( if possible ) and order a different color dial and request for the original dial. Three months you will get the replacement dial. Wear it for 6 months and order another dial.
You think they'll do that for us? I've heard both sides: they will, they won't. What have you heard?
@@DrRolexPhD I'm speaking from my personal experience. Many people do this with Daytona as well. Don't know the cost of Daytona as I don't have it. But OP 39 and DJ if memory serves me right, it was 800$ for the OP and a bit more for the DJ as it was 41 but not that much difference. I don't know why I was refused a green dial for my black Sub. It would have been a truly unique piece as i have never seen a green dial black bezel sub.
I got no choice and I am going to buy a fake ones,as long as it looks good it's OK for me~
Que bueno adelante
I’m no Pleb.
It’s another strategically move from Rolex.
I feel you brother. Cause I know.
Thanks for the video👍🏼
My pleasure!
Almighty Rolex knows best.
Best news ever … I paid 7 grand for mine .. should make around 15k in a year or so ;)
Wow, sweet. You got it at retail?
Rolex vs Respect.................SAD!!
I am quite bummed out, because I was looking at getting the green dail in January... :(
I hope it'll still be available. I love the green too!
Im one of the cleverest people in my village my advice is buy your Rolex secondhand so I can take the top models from my AD new
What about the Z-blue Milgauss...discontinued???
I haven't heard anything about the Milgauss, but I'll keep my ears open
So true, the Rolex for us plebs 😅
Us plebs need Rolex's too!!
This Rolex hype may hv nothing to do with these OP special colours, on the whole, except those with diamond pieces, all models are on long waiting list. Rolex just attracts all walks of life pple now especially investors.
Nice Video
Thanks Boris!

Really?! Wow, that would be nuts
@@DrRolexPhD red and robin blue were excluded from 2022 catalog for OP 41. Also excluded blue dial yacht master 40 platinum bezel.
Rolex won’t discontinue that color that’s not Rolex
Entry level ? Mate did you the prices of these pieces secondary market ?
Entry level well over £11K for the turquoise dial … the red yellow or green are not any cheaper .,,
Entry level ? Common
Every level Rolex.
Huh, I figured you could be upset if thy discontinued any pink watches? yes we know your a queen
Maybe it's because Tiffany's legal sent Rolex a cease and desist on a patented Tiffany blue dial?
Hmmm, maybe. But I don't think Rolex uses the word Tiffany anywhere explicitly
@@DrRolexPhD it doesn’t matter if they used the word or not. It’s the color and implied branding association.
@@kentde you cannot patent a colour ....
@@Tonysoprano497 sure you can. When it can be proven it’s blatantly representing and borrowing their patented branding.
@@kentde I can assure you that you cannot patent a colour . Moreover there is no Tiffany blue in the op line up it is merely turquoise. Any company can use the colour turquoise as they see fit without any form of legal restriction. However if Rolex had knowingly marketed this colour as Tiffany blue then I’m sure they would have been breaching copyright however they never have . They released a watch dial colour that happens to be turquoise which was widely used before Tiffany coined the phrase Tiffany blue . It is only a small portion of the watch community who attached the tag Tiffany blue which is of course is factually incorrect .
Rolex make watches, right? They are a watch maker? So why would they stop one of the most popular watches they make? Why not just ramp up production of everything they make and keep customers happy? Or am I smelling something rotten in the State of Denmark (Rolex)?
It's been confirmed that the baby blue has not been discontinued...you can see it in the 2022 catalogue.
That said, I have a really good relationship with my AD, have spent over 150K and he said the wait list on the OP Tiffany at his AD, considering the allocation he gets, is now over 5yrs. Realistically though, how many people will actually pay 30k for this watch once the hype dies down? I suspect this could be the first Rolex in a while that people actually lose money on as the hype subsides and the markets for this watch softens. I could be wrong of course...but 30k for an OP that isn't a real Tiffany feels off to me. It's a hype watch and that's about it.
@@m.e.p.r wow, interesting. Well, I guess that's good for the people who are willing to wait for it.
That's not a bad theory. I think a lot of people will lose money speculating on this watch.
@@DrRolexPhD i also think if you're a watch lover you have to see beyond a hyped colour don't you? An OP for £30-40k...think about what that type of money buys you.
@@m.e.p.r agreed.
@@DrRolexPhD have you considered buying a silver dial and then sending it off to Rolex to get it redialed, essentially swapping the silver for the Tiffany? All up the cost of doing this is about $1000. Might be a shorter and less expensive route to a Tiffany. And because Rolex don't have an extension for the colour on the OP line, there is no way of telling on resell :)
Ouuu is it just the 41mm?! Or all the of Tiffany's?! I hope this isn't true!
My guess is it'll be all the Tiffany's, but I'm right next to you praying it ain't so!
If true Shame on you Rolex for jerking your average customer around!!! I say boycott Rolex. I’ve moved on have dignity and leave Rolex behind.
Buy a watch at a ridiculous price, but use your online presence to start a rumor to pump the price even further so your investment is safe. That seems to me to be what's going on here.
Hmmm, it's possible...
You could have purchased it earlier
Coulda woulda shoulda!
Im happy, very happy, for disclosure I own one. I ordered one when everyone was shitting on it right after realize. When people realized they are actually nice and impossible to get now cry. I got mine as late as month ago no problem. Sorry, buy always what you like, not in the hype.
Great move, I'm jealous
@@DrRolexPhD don't be, many more to come and certainly you will find your treasure too
No, Rolex will not do this. Goldberg has been wrong before. After one year there is no way they will discontinue a single color. It’s pure speculation. Don’t fall for the gossip.
But I love gossip!
@@DrRolexPhD lol
Discontinued or not, entry level collectors are not going to get this watch anyway.
A man can dream, though.
@@DrRolexPhD I’ll sell you one of mine for 19k… just kidding. I’m holding onto them just in case this discontinued rumour holds some merit. I deal with multiple dealers due to my traveling a lot.. Depending on my schedule I usually tell different dealers I’m interested in the same watch and buy from the first one who gets back to me and politely turn down the others if they end up coming through at a later date… im not a hoarder or flipper but I made an exception for this watch and bought it from the both dealers who got it from me.. still want the yellow though.
