This argument in favor of the turquoise OP is thought provoking. It reminds us that "sophisticated" and "sophistry" are etymologically very different words. "Sophisticated" comes from Medieval Latin "sophisticates", meaning "to make impure by admixture" On the other hand, "sophistry" comes from the Greek "sophos", meaning "clever", "shrewd" or "skilled in handicraft or the sciences." Is the argument for the Tiffany OP sophisticated or sophistry?
Rolex should either ramp up production or increase their prices so that watches don‘t go to flippers only. I don’t think they are doing themselves a favor with their current supply/pricing policy in the long run.
Discontinued? Hardly a surprise. Why? Because Rolex loves feeding the hype (just like Patek, AP, etc.). "We can't make more." Baloney. Of course they can. They can just make fewer of the less desirable models. They choose not to in order to feed the hype. It's borderline dishonest. Say no and take your business elsewhere. Rolex doesn't deserve it anymore.
Once again Rolex is teaching the lesson to the whole wristwatch industry: How to turn stale potatoes into hot cackes and sell them in bucketloads ! It should be obvious to just about everybody that Rolex has the most resourceful marketing department in the whole industry ! When new edition of sales and marketing strategies textbooks shall be written Rolex will feature prominently ! Great job, Rolex ! Well done !
Guys, love the videos and podcast. Amazing work! However, we all know that Rolex took these ideas and improved them ... Hans Wilsdorf or Alfred Davis did not Invent them. The problem with pushing the notion rather than being first to capitalize on those inventions is that it is not properly educational. Lots of shade on Omega, hope you do a video on Omega's innovations, or Longines, et cetera. I know you know Rolex only found its recent success from going up-market through careful brand engineering, much like the birth of diamonds as the ONLY wedding ring that should be worn by DeBeers. Otherwise, just bugger off and stop making such generalized negative assumptions. You along with Marc are giving off a very ‘fox and sour grapes’ vibe.
@@ryanbanks4265 Spot on.
This watch hasn't been discontinued...only certain dial colors!
The maxi markers work a lot better on the 41. I owned the 36mm and sold it because I loved the maxi 36mm case that almost resembled the cushion cases of the OPs inception, but they left the markers too small on the dial and from a distance they looked too stubby and squat
I have this watch scheduled as my 30th birthday gift. I was debating long between the blue and yellow dial.
Same here! Put my name down the other day. I’m more partial to the silver colour.
@@Czeron01 not going to get them now
Wait…. The Oyster Perpetual line has been discontinued?
just certain dial colors
And they raised the price of the remaining models by $300-500.
Can't blame people that didn't want to buy oyster perpetuals when they were double he retail
I have a Seiko , and I like how it has the same watch hands , and i love it !
Same here 😁
Seiko is an awesome brand I love my seiko just as much as my Rolex
I have a San Martin . Sw 200 inside . Great watch .
Rolex are just as culturally significant as iconic and seiko and Casio.
The chronographs are very cool timepieces but I have no need for one. I'd like a beautiful and simple watch and the Oyster Perpetual fits the bill perfectly.
39mm max for a plane jane IMO. I love my Sub bigger but otherwise less is more, simple perfection of style over size and finishes always looks better. Wind up only would make it thinner and even more perfect but I wind everything ... great vid thanks for posting.
100 % . . Now . I don't have a rolex Tiffany Blue . But for fun and to have a new summer watch I got a San Martin . It's a great very well built watch . SW 200 inside it . It looks the part . People ask me about it all the time . Is it a rip off of rolex ? 100 % . Do I care ? No . I NEVER pretend it's a rolex ! Just have fun with life .
That is the right attitude to watches! Simply buy what you like and dont give a flying toss about what other people think...
Correction, the previous Oyster Perpetual was actually the best, before they butchered it with the unnecessary double markers on 3 6 and 9...
The "tiffany" dial is still available in 36mm though...
For now
"available"
And who wears a 36mm turqouise watch? I mean what "man"
@@rogerb1964 36mm is a perfectly normal size for a men's watch
@@jab92 yes back in the 70s. A patek sure but not a Rolex in 2022
"Think of the Porsche 911. It looks like it does so can fit 4 people, sort of..."
I know it's only April, but this may be The Understatement Of The Year.
Rolex make great watches for sure but i wont be buying another one and i think their strategy and their Ad,s attitude will eventually backfire on them
3:32 oh hi bezel face
I love mine in Silver.... simple and elegant
Im not in this pricerange but if i had that type of money i couldnt buy a rolex, the grand seikos, omegas, and longines seem to have so much more uniqueness
Need this in a white dial
I own a OP 41 green dial, still available for now but I’m not sure how much longer. Really grateful to have been able to get an OP 41 I really do think it is the best watch Rolex makes it’s so clean, symmetrical, comfortable, and capable for any occasion.
Superb! I was very lucky to have bought a OP 41 black dial. I agree with you, possibly the classiest watch Rolex make. Prices have already gone mental for them as well.
@@nairncumming360 congrats !! The black one is amazing as well and arguably the most versatile of an already versatile watch.
i wish i had a chance to see the color in reality before I make the purchase decision. The green dial looks fantastic in youtube!
@@nairncumming360 completely agree, I also have the OP41 black and it’s stunning especially in bright sunlight, super comfortable to wear, this colour seems to fly under the radar at present.
@@andrewhatton2774 Good! Let's hope it stays that way as well. Want my watch to remain cool!
Fry: I’m shocked ….SHOCKED!!!!!……well not that shocked
Rolex discontinuing watches that ‘never really existed’ unless you have a very very good purchase history with an AD
Either way, that’s a cracking watch
@Calvin It is nice, but you're right... did it ever really exist? I feel like Rolex is like the coelacanth; not really extinct, but might as well be.
Great marketing. AP did it with the RO
3:30 face reveal in bezel reflection.
LOVE this watch man, versatility is such a powerful attribute in all aspects of life 💎
OP 41 - retail : 6150 $ --- the Tiffany 41 ,today, on BOB'S. asking. 50 k. . --not a Daytona , an OP. - CRAZY. - JDS/CT
I always watch your videos Watchfinder! :)
🔥
The double markers at 3 6 9 spoil the beauty...
Still waiting for Monta to do 36mm, ETA, simple sunburst dial with their superior bracelet.
Very nice watch.
OP was supposed to be a model which people can walk-in and buy it
imagine how crazy it will be if they make submariner & Daytona in this dial colour.
Are you saying there's a Blue Oyster Cult?
Feeding the hype 🙄🙄
RUclipsrs Love to hype Rolex! 😂
Wait , why is there a 9min video about a watch most of us can't get at retail. Oh oh , the watch is on sale at watch finder :)
Omega catches up with the colours, so Rolex drops them, that’s the move.
I wish it had more polished metal and a fluted bezel hahaha i.e. ...datejust...that color wow
I’d love to think you just said ‘Or the watch you can wear for dogging’ 😂
How can it the best watch when it was hardly obtainable at Retail price from ADs?
Discontinued or not is inconsequential.
No the best most loved discontinued Rolex is the Oyster Perpetual 41m Yellow 💛
Great clean design, timeless watch. I like silver dial.
Rolex should either ramp up production or increase their prices so that watches don‘t go to flippers only. I don’t think they are doing themselves a favor with their current supply/pricing policy in the long run.
I was kinda waiting for the "AND THEY'VE DISCONTINUED IT!!" line and some discussion on that the whole way through this video 😳
Wearing my bright blue OP41 right now. Adore this model.
The dial color is about the only reason I'd wear it.
What must they make more. They are not making Corollas
Off my soapbox. Rolex is dead, Long live Rolex!
I didn't know they sold watches . You can't buy what you want at an ad
The Casio version is a god tier watch.
Just the same as this but more accurate and only £40.
Great piece
