  • How to Make Soy Candles with a simple DIY tutorial. I've been making my own homemade soy candles for the past 6 years, and they're so fun! With this easy soy candles tutorial you can whip up a batch of soy candles in very little time!
READ THE BLOG POST HERE FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS: www.artfulhomemaking.com/make...
Note on instructions in the video: I mentioned heating the wax to about 170-180, but I forgot to mention that I don't pour at this temperature. I heat the wax to about 180 degrees, add fragrance (if using), and then pour the wax at around 135 degrees. The blog post linked above has the full and complete instructions.

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO MAKE SOY CANDLES
    Soy Wax: amzn.to/2HfFbLr
    Melting Pot/Pitcher: amzn.to/2k1bf9p
    Half-Pint 8 oz. Jelly Jars: amzn.to/2kpQrfe
Pot to Use as a Double Boiler
    Wicks: amzn.to/2JYZLkV
Scale (if you need to weigh wax or fragrance oil-the wax linked above doesn't require a scale.): amzn.to/2kRnkCk
    Thermometer: amzn.to/2ZCeuZW
Glue Gun or Wick Stickers: amzn.to/2L2ldbx or amzn.to/2ZxEZ2t
    Mixing Spoon: amzn.to/2ZwH3Yz
    Clothespins: amzn.to/2ZtLkMs
Fragrance Oil (optional): amzn.to/2NDIq5e (These are what I used in the video, and I used one bottle for each candle. They smelled amazing, but the scent throw wasn't great. This one looks like a good one to try, but it would require a scale to weigh out about 1-2 oz. of fragrance oil for the 1 lb. of wax: amzn.to/2HxqEwL)
    Decorative Lids (optional): amzn.to/2k1rvfj

how much essential oil would you use for that batch? Are you going to do the video?

    • @ArtfulHomemaking
      @ArtfulHomemaking  3 года назад +1

Hi Susan! I've read that you should use at least 100 drops of essential oil for every pound of wax. It takes a lot of essential oil to scent candles! I haven't had a chance to make a video yet, but I hope to get one made in the future.

Wow 100 drops is a lot and yes they are expensive. Thanks for the response 😊

I know, it's amazing how much it takes to scent them with essential oils!

I don't have any experience with that. I've only made these candles just with the soy wax, and they always turn out great!

I've never added coconut oil to my soy candles before, but I do add coconut oil to my beeswax candles. You can find the tutorial for those here: ruclips.net/video/UgS40c1vyWA/видео.html
