if I've ever made a personal A.I., I would probably integrate this kind of voice embedded inside it. his voice is truly dark yet interesting in a cool way!
+Strakester You've pretty much got all the makings for a horror movie right there. ALOT scarier than Freddy Kreuger. The "elastic band mouth" could still slice you in two with minimal effort I'm sure.
Ah, this how we teach young children to count: By psychologically traumatizing them with a disturbing disembodied face that sounds like a possessed Morgan Freeman.
“Do you want to see my evil thought? Everyone has evil thoughts” this thing makes Slender man look like the Easter bunny. I don’t know why this isn’t an urban/ internet legend.
I'm now curious as to which synthesizer system was used to create the music for this: Buchla, Moog, or other? The use of microtonal notes indicates Buchla's keyboardless synth, but I could be totally wrong. (As a kid I found this freaky and fascinating. I was more upset by the baker falling down the stairs in the Baker 1-10 series.)
This guy is definitely strange to the core: He uses a deep, soft, calm, soothing, seductive tone when he talks,he speaks in rhyme,& yet,he's nothing but a mass of elastic strings made to look like a face. No wonder he's teaching young generations to count.
Yeah, it was creepy, but you know what, we children of the early 70's didn't care! A lot of the old Sesame Street skits were creepy, and everyone had that one skit which just went too far (for me is was Sammy the Snake, *shudder*). And yet we kept tuning in, day after day, not became our mom's needed a break from us, but because we LOVED the show! The fact is that the writers of the old Sesame Street knew that children aren't fragile and stupid. They knew that they could push the envelope and we would be intrigued rather than scarred. In short, they knew how to keep our attention and respect our intelligence. Cut to the modern age where focus groups have taken over the show and the whole damn thing has been handed over to Elmo. The show is patronizing, cloying and gutless. Because of that it has lost its premier place in children's programming.
Yeah, they had recently learned that psychedelic imagery really grabbed kids attention, which is key to getting kids to learn but can be very difficult to achieve. Bits like this and the pinball countdown are trippy examples of this experiment. Though this technique proved very successful at generating quality meme imagery, certain conservative elements worked themselves into hysterics over the drug associations of the word "psychedelic" along with the hippie appearance of this brilliant crew and put the kibosh on further pursuits in this technique. This one used to really do my head in. I used to really get the feel that we were floating in space thanks to this piece.
