I've tried to setup my arturia with ableton but can't seem to get the settings correct to use the keylab to change midi channels using the keylab only. Can you do a little more detailed video showing exactly the steps and settings you used? This looks great. Thank you.

If you mean keylab essential mk2 then I've got a separate video on that. just check it out. this one is on keystep🤣

No, I am using the same keystep 32 that you were using in the video. I do think I finally figured out out. After putting in the different instruments on separate midi channels, you then have to arm each channel. That's the part I was having trouble with until I noticed the comments in the lower left box of Ableton on how to arm multiple channels all at once.

@@davidknab8299 yes, that's the correct way to arm all tracks. sorry I didn't make it particularly clear in the video.

That's very interesting, I am going to give this a try. I have a keystep i bought a while ago but never really used as i dont know much about setting things up. Would what you say about the dials not being midi be the reason why i cant get the arpegiator to work with ableton or am i just not set up correctly?

    • @JJJB

Yes correct. The knobs don't send any midi message hence Ableton would never know you're turning them. Anyway this thing is designed to work with hardware synths rather than DAWs.

Why can't you just set the switches on the back to sync in or something to disable the internal arp/sequencer? Then you can use the transport control buttons on the top without issue.

      Brilliant idea!

make sure that you have all tracks record armed ( the record icons are lit in ever track you would like to record into)

@@JJJB I'm having this same problem but I have all the recording tracks set. What setting do you set the clock to on the keystep?
One more question - Are you using the sequencer to do the looping or you're using ableton to loop somehow? How do you set it up? Thanks!

@@smackbear1 I was not using the built in sequencer. I didn't change the sync setting either, but someone here commented that the sync could be set to external to disable the built-in sequencer, which I think is a nice work around. Give it a try😀 BTW, I did try to slave keystep to Ableton's clock but somehow they lose sync after a few bars.... someone happens to know why?
