Yes! Right up there with Dave Matthews for me.❤ I don't care what kind of song it is, the lyrics must mean something. That's one reason I can't stand current music.
I was sitting on the edge of my chair holding my mothers hand as she was losing a 10 year fight with cancer in a hospice clinic while she was struggling to breathe asking her what can i do mom? I want to help. She looked me in the eyes smiled the same proud smile she'd shown me my whole life and said be yourself son. She died right after that. As i headed to my truck i got in tears rolling down my face turned the key and the radio came on with be yourself audioslave. I smiled and peeled out of the parking lot in the truck my mother and i built. From that day on i knew she was with me.
I don't know why but whenever I listen to this masterpiece I feel like I can literally tear apart any challenge in my life . RIP CHRIS CORNELL . You were a genius man.
I have to say, to this day the production of this EP is the best sounding rock album of all time. Huge drums. Huge guitars. Huge bass. No mud. Vocals that cut. I sit in awe of how well they made this record sound.
I'm in rapture with this man. He got me through the deaths of my 2 children at birth. He is no longer here, but his memory lives on! Honestly, he is asking the Creator, show us, show us how to live. Sad that he didn't feel he had the answer... I'll NEVER forget him and always pray he found his peace. 🙏🏼
Imagine hearing that being hummed into your ear. Any gender, any preference. This man will make you feel something primal, deep down. If but for a moment. You know you're good when you're buddies with Brad Pitt, and can have pictures taken with him without you looking like complete dumpster fire in comparison.
I always thought the same thing. Something about Cornell's vocals with Audioslave is just better which is amazing because he was already legendary with Soundgarden.
Completely different styles and techniques. They both sound good, but Audioslave songs are very distortion heavy, and that completely wrecked his voice during the 2003 tour. This technique isn't the healthiest. It took 7 years for him to gradually work his way back up to those crazy high Soundgarden vocals.
I've never been one to post comments on youtube or anything but I feel as if it's necessary to honor a legend. Cornells vocals and powerful messages in everything he released helped me through some really dark times and i'm thankful this man and his vocals were able to reach me in a physical and emotional way. Such a tragic loss, R.I.P you'll be missed deeply.
Temple Of The Dog got me through some very dark days. Chris was generously guiding an inexperienced Eddie Vedder to help the band get back on their feet. No one could duplicate that tone. Thank you Chris...
Very true, you do not know his life his mind, body or soul. Nor do I know yours. May Chris rest in Peace, we are not the ones to decide. But Love, Hope and Faith prevails all, if we choose.
The power of this band combined with Cornell's unmatched vocal ability was one of the best musical recipes ever concocted. Even though they only made 3 albums, I am forever grateful for it's existence.
Cornell is a musical king Midas. The only mistake Cornell ever made was Scream. I think he just did it to see if he could pull it off. It didn't quite work out, although songwriting was solid as he proved in many acoustic performances of songs off of the album.
Just realized what the chorus is close to Rom 6:4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
For kids (or anyone else) who have not seen it... this video is a reference to the 1971 movie Vanishing point. And yes... You may be away but you're still with us.
I was wondering if there was any "old guys" that remembered "Vanishing Point"! It came out in theaters in late 60's or early 70's, if I recall correctly... I might've been in my early teens when I first saw it, one of 1st movies I recall that had good rock n roll music soundtrack, I remember the Jesus freak who threw the box of rattlesnakes @ the guy who drove the Challenger in that flick! Guy also took acid in one part of movie also! It was a typical "B" movie, shown during summer vacation!

My dad passed away yesterday and now I'm making a playlist with all the songs he loved and I remember him by. This is one of them. Thank you dad for showing me the greatest artists of all times. Loved, missed and never forgotten 🤘🔥❤
This song described exactly how I feelt a few years ago when I underwent a life crysis. I quit my job and spent 3 years doing some deep soul search and reflecting on my entire life. I came out of that with a lot of answers, it was definatelly a very intense time in my life, but also indispensable. That being said, I think I will allways ask God to show me how to live, since life is constantly posing new challanges.
One year today dad... hard to believe in an hour and 33 minute's you left this world in physical form love you forever thanks for showing me great music like this, until i see you again DAD❤
I love so many bands that I can't imagine happy times and struggles without them. With that being said NO ONE can rip emotions out of my head like Chris Cornell. If he sang the damn phonebook it would trigger emotions and avoided thoughts.
@@alext2566 Just what Chris did with Audioslave and Soundgarden alone is enough to warrant him being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and that's not even including the EXTENSIVE amount of other music he did with other artists. He's a certified legend.
@@alext2566 I'm a coward for speaking my mind? How does that work? I'd say it to the guy's face if I could. It's not like I have the option. And what is your logic? If someone is dead you're not allowed to have an opinion on them? Or it's ok to have an opinion of them, as long as it's a positive one? The guy's a good singer. I listen to his music all the time. It doesn't mean I have to like him as a person. And you don't have to like my comment. But I fail to see how it makes me a coward to say someone that walks out and abandons their children instead of dealing with their issues and being there for their kids, is a coward. I'm a parent. I'm also fighting a terminal illness myself. I could easily give up and just let myself die, because fighting is hard. But I refuse to do that. So you can call me a coward all you want. I know I'm not. As does anyone that knows me. You're just lashing out because you don't like what I said about some celebrity you put on a pedestal.
R.I.P dear Chris Cornell , thank you for coming to this Relative Realm , you're always a bright shooting star ... And up there in the skies in the immense of the galaxies you are again back home among other stars like you ! I do respect you Chris , it's your life man , and you do as you choose to ! Bless ya man . Thank you for your light and brightness that shone upon us while you're here with us . His wife took him out! I researched this for 2 years. There's no doubt. She is a greedy pile of garbage. What the hell did he see in that ugly face,he could a had anyone...smh
It is sad. "Before my role defines you" is my favoritest part... But i obviously didnt mean that in the c.c. kind of a fd up way. I liked that part even before he passed.
Chris Cornell had the BEST voice for soooooo many tunes he's done.....from beginning with Pearl Jam/Mother Bone Dog...Sound Garden....AudioSlave.....such an AMAZING artist gone way too soon!
I think this was 90's? The 2000's really saw a demise in music that occurred quickly. They put a stop to that high vibrational music. I remember clearly watching this video in highschool, and I graduated in June 2001.
An ol' buddy of mine and I rented a Mustang back in 2010 and drove across the desert from Phoenix to San Diego playing this album on repeat, such an awesome vibe.
Out of all Seatle bands at the time Layne Staley alongside Chris were the best vocalists. I would put Scott Weiland and Kurt Cobain but They're another story
easily one of my favorite vocalists of all time, only second to lajon witherspoon. these guys that formed bands in this era sure know how to make timeless music. may he rest in peace.
Veda Thipparthi A few years ago I was sitting at home and I thought I could hear someone playing Soundgarden in the distance. Then I remembered they were playing at the showground near my house. I couldn't go because I had work, but realizing I could actually hear Chris singing in the distance was like realizing I was listening to the voice of God himself...
2021. The first time I ever heard this man sing. I'm 24.... My parents, grandparents and friends have failed me. Nothing compares to what his voice brings out in me.
Chris's voice is like a science experiment gone right!!! His voice can change weather patterns and make thunderstorms its so powerful!!! He makes it look so easy.
More people need to know that Cornnel and Bennington's voices were snuffed for trying to produce a documentary on Hollywood pedophilia, and the Human Trafficking that it perpetuates.
I remember the first time I watched this video Cornell was tapping his throat with his hand to the end but now it seems to be cut off. Where could I find the original vid?
That’s because they are not saved by Christ ! Lost people don’t give a hoot about biblical meanings . At the end of a Christ rejecting life, hellfire awaits ! BE SAVED !
I love your Intro ! And you don't put your face on half a screen and talk during the song . You just left the song speak by itself.. Mad respect for you.. RIP Chris Cornell
We all love Chris's voice and the crazy sounds Tom can make on his guitar, but I think Timmy C is under-appreciated. He has a ridiculously good bass tone, it's exceedingly growl-y for a fingerstyle picker and radiates heaviness and power, especially on this song. Reminds me of slow moving magma for some reason. While Tom does his wacky solos, Tim keeps the rhythm of the song and adds heaviness to it at the same time. Go Tim!
+Soundtallica in Chains I got a 12-inch Sony home theater sub from a neighbor and tested it with this song for the exact reasons you detailed. The bass rolled along so nicely, I almost lost some pictures off the wall. =D
This entire video is representative of Chris Cornell's life, up until the final sequence with the untimely death. RIP to one of the most iconic voices of the 90's.
I would say one of the best of all time! Dude could belt it out!! 80s kid her so I lived all of it.. Sad he got killed like Chester did for making a movie of all the molesters in hollywood and in the government!!!

My dad passed away yesterday and now I'm making a playlist with all the songs he loved and I remember him by. This is one of them. Thank you dad for showing me the greatest artists of all times. Loved, missed and never forgotten 🤘🔥❤
Sorry for your lost and excellent taste of music
Thank you so much that you will remember your Father. We all miss the ones we can't talk to anymore. Arigatou gozaimasu senpai 💘💮🌸🌹🌺

Every project this man was involved with was fucking terrific. Just proves he was one of the best period. RIP Chris, you beautiful soul.
So beautiful and no one compares ... heart wrenching ...
Dont compare him to chester

His last project.. The documentary he and chester were working on is what cost him his life.. Do not let that happen in vain.. WWG1WGA! R.I.P Chris
Cool car cool dude - shattered me when he was gone, He helped me so much - you will always rock on Chris!
Sending love and good vibes to you from Australia ❤❤❤
❤❤❤
Right there with you. To our dads, and Chris 🫡
Still Better than the last Fast And Furious.

Bobo Culto, Genio, veo tus videos, que grande que admires a un gran cantante como Chris Cornell.
Chris Cornell was one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Miss you, man. RIP
I love so many bands that I can't imagine happy times and struggles without them. With that being said NO ONE can rip emotions out of my head like Chris Cornell. If he sang the damn phonebook it would trigger emotions and avoided thoughts.
yup agree him and Dio
"Cornell had the songwriting skills of the Beatles, the weight of Black Sabbah, and a powerful voice like Mercury." - DAVE GROHL
He was everything!!
Easily top 5 all time rock/metal vocalists AND songwriters. Extremely underrated in the latter, his body of work is insane
@@alext2566 Just what Chris did with Audioslave and Soundgarden alone is enough to warrant him being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and that's not even including the EXTENSIVE amount of other music he did with other artists. He's a certified legend.
Including a coward that caused immense harm to his own children by removing himself from their lives. That is unforgiveable.
@@daemonthorn5888 at least he wasn't the sort of coward who anonymously insults dead people on the internet
There is reason why Chester adores Chris Cornell. This guy is a legend. RIP Sir.
Amen to this post! Miss them both everyday and night wishing they was still here with us.
amen
Yes, bhai!!!! YES!!!!
now chester can be with him in the afterlife, both deserved so much more
Better to have heard as much from them as we did. Legendary.

These are the most accurate words. Bless you.
The good ones die early . Leaving us bewildered. But the music says it all.
Absolute truth!!!
R.I.P another legend. Gone but forever In our hearts.
You'll never be forgotten, Chris.
His wife took him out! I researched this for 2 years. There's no doubt. She is a greedy pile of garbage. What the hell did he see in that ugly face,he could a had anyone...smh
How did he pass away?
You gave life Chris, now show me how to live without you.
R.I.P Chris.

I feel the same 😢 it is incredibly sad that he is not here anymore. Most amazing voice I have ever heard
It is sad. "Before my role defines you" is my favoritest part... But i obviously didnt mean that in the c.c. kind of a fd up way. I liked that part even before he passed.
Simply one of the greatest hard rock vocal performances ever.
Makes my heart ache listening to Chris, this world just wasn't enough. Rest in Peace Chris, you're missed
RIP Chris, you sure showed many of us how to live!

I so respectfully tip my hat to Chris. Possibly the last of real rock stars, and all the inspiration he brought to his fans.. and me! 😥🙂👍
😀
I love his music
Me too! Special place in my heart, forever, for him! May his murder not ever be forgotten- and why.
Chris Cornell had the BEST voice for soooooo many tunes he's done.....from beginning with Pearl Jam/Mother Bone Dog...Sound Garden....AudioSlave.....such an AMAZING artist gone way too soon!
I think thats why they killed chris. He represented rock stars and the industry wanted to kill that off and replace it with hip hop
He gave so many people hope and saved so many people from hurting themselves....but then in turn he lost his battle. Such a tragedy.

I think this was 90's? The 2000's really saw a demise in music that occurred quickly. They put a stop to that high vibrational music. I remember clearly watching this video in highschool, and I graduated in June 2001.
God love you Chris, I don’t think we will be blessed with a voice like yours again.

An ol' buddy of mine and I rented a Mustang back in 2010 and drove across the desert from Phoenix to San Diego playing this album on repeat, such an awesome vibe.
sounds like the greatest trip known to man lol
There will never be another voice like Chris'. He himself is the legend that will stand the test of time. Happy New Year's Eve 2019/2020 everyone!
i completely agree sweety
I love the tribute to the film Vanishing Point. Awesome movie.
Chris Cornell's voice is like a muscle car. WHERE DOES HE GET THE SOUND FROOOMMMM!
Lol.
+Roderick Lenz God him self? come on.. lol I love my music too but shit
Kenny Dennison it's not music, it's Chris Cornell XD
+Roderick Lenz yea I guess you're right lol
Stop asking who’s still listening, we never stop listening

I give the nod very slightly to Layne Staley...

Absofuckinglutely ❤️
More people need to know that Cornnel and Bennington's voices were snuffed for trying to produce a documentary on Hollywood pedophilia, and the Human Trafficking that it perpetuates.
Wondering if anyone given a thought on what is the song about??
@@guptasnotes1791 Basically from a creation's view of his creator. Frankenstein's monster is a good example. In our case, our creator would be God.
I remember the first time I watched this video Cornell was tapping his throat with his hand to the end but now it seems to be cut off. Where could I find the original vid?
Thank you 🙏🕊️✝️🕊️🙏King Jesus
HALALUYAH! People never talk about the biblical message of this song!
That’s because they are not saved by Christ ! Lost people don’t give a hoot about biblical meanings . At the end of a Christ rejecting life, hellfire awaits ! BE SAVED !

You just left the song speak by itself..

+Soundtallica in Chains No love for Brad Wilk? He always adds what the songs need and keeps them groovy (specially on RATM).
This entire video is representative of Chris Cornell's life, up until the final sequence with the untimely death. RIP to one of the most iconic voices of the 90's.
No it's not, it's about Frankenstein. He said he was inspired to write this song after reading the book.🤣
