Nail in my head from my creator
You gave me life, now show me how to live

Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me, yeah

Brad's groove and sound are absolutely balls to the wall. Amazing drummer.
One of the most recognizable drummers, just a 4/4 beat and you know it's him.
IM SAYIN 👏🏼
Chris was so beautiful 😢
I like that he smashes drums. So sick of lil technique hits with no pop. This is how it’s done.
thats right! Balls to the wall! 😎 (joke aside, the drumming is totally sick)
Chris in a bad day is still better than ourselves in good day
These sessions will always be super important to me because they showed Chris being human. The greatest rock singer ever can STILL have bad days, make mistakes, etc. I have a feeling he was sick during these performances. I'm so sad we never got to see a proper reunion with Tom, Brad, and Tim but so grateful we have 3 great albums to listen to forever.
Im guessing he cant hear himself properly. Hes holding his headphones almost the entire time. Its VERY difficult if not impossible to sing on key of you cant hear yourself
His voice was so blown out at this point.
@@lucebruno644 Right!! and the vocal mix isn’t helping it at all.. I still love it though they were RAW AS FUCK n this proves it
His voice is exhausted. He needs to sing "priest" in falsetto because it takes lots of muscle support to hit the "ee" sound at that note. He goes into falsetto there to deliberately to preserve the muscle strength. The chorus also sounds very "heady" which indicates additional air flowing through the glottis rather than going for high compression and distortion. Once again hitting the notes but preserving the available strength. Such a legend. So much love to Chris
Relative to former glory, his voice was shot by about 1996 or so. Not really a surprise. Just about anything off badmotorfinger or Superunknown is difficult to sing once at full power, let alone in a set day in and day out, year after year. He just didn't have that ability anymore at this point. The difficulty with pitch may very well be problems hearing himself, but he's always been a little pitchy live. These issues were less glaring previously and his great ability otherwise made it less of a focus.
Chris is having a tough time in this. He poured out everything he had to give for so long he's allowed to be human. He's the voice of a generation! RIP Chris. Luv ya bro!!
I disagree mate, he is just rocking out
@@eeyagone1 If you think this is a good performance by Chris... you don't know Chris!
Definitely agree, I know his voice very very well and he's absolutely struggling in this example. Like any vocalist, the time isn't right every time.
@@AndrewTinWA Agreed!! He consistently gave everything in his performances, I'm sure the world can forgive a bad day at the office!!
Rage against + Soundgarden = Audioslave
The only singer who showed could blend over ratm
🤦🏻♂️
Exatamente
Desse jeitinho.
Soundgarden = Soundgarden
The boys sound freaking awesome!! Sounds like CC had a throat issue- but after giving us over 20 years of high octane singing, hitting notes that are sky high and generally kicking ass, I think we can forgive him for being human!!🖤
Well said!!!!!
don't you mean high-octave?Chris' vocal range covered 4 octaves...octane is a fuel
@@rebeccarosen6889 Yup! I know the difference! I meant "Octane" because the concerts were insane and high energy. I know CC had mad octave skills but the music was high octane- see the difference??? I don't know why you felt the need to point that out? Maybe putting people in their places is your thing, who knows! Have a great day 👍
CC does not need to be forgiven.
I love you man
Chris RIP was obviously sick that day and still pull through a fucking epic session !! Absolute legend… those songs are some of the most difficult to sing
Being from Paulsbo, I really miss that voice and of Layne’s. To both, you’ll always be in my memories. RIP Guys🌹🌹
Still smashed them verses like a boss. Haha but yeah show me how to live is one tough song.
Substance abuse my friend he wasn’t sick..Chris was great by all means
@@shawnperico7221 so he is inmune to be sick?... maybe he got the flu or something...
I do not agree with your saying. Studio live performance is very different from recording session to put in an album. You improvise more during live session, even you have right to change the original album singing. Chris Cornell is the one with its own amazing style of singing throughout rock era
All the people complaining about his voice. Two EXTREMELY difficult songs in a row and he ruled both of them, even experiencing some audio issues and probably not being 100% healthy. Chris and the guys showed why they were an impressive band. Love to all of them forever
Agree somewhat! Not an audioslave fan.. and Most ppl here are prolly under 40 and possibly never appreciate the difficulty of singing these pieces or understand his SG repertoire .. for which I think he does a commendable/exceptional job here.. Seen CC several times throughout his career and he’s up there with the best singers of all time irrespective of this performance which I still valued/enjoyed. RIP
He used to blow out his voice from time to time just like Dave grohl.
Chris Cornell’s vocal parts are almost always absolutely insane, it’s a wonder he nailed it night after night, as much as he did to begin with
Well said!
Besides - anyone who criticises, just offered to step up and "play harder"
So.....anyone really wanna go toe-2-toe with Cornell's catalogue of vocals?
@@jamielarking2980 omg 😱 3x. That’s amazing. 💫
If this is how good CC sounded at his "worst" then I hate missing the best ones that didnt get recorded live 😭
singing off key and his voice still sounds amazing. i love chris cornell. there will truly never be another singer like him ever again.
Thankfully.
What do u mean by thankfully. He was great!
I know I'm not alone when I say that I wish Chris was still here..
Gone way too soon.
Like Jimmy Hendrix and so many others, you'll live forever in the music you gave us while you were here.
Thanks for posting these videos to ensure just that.
@Larry Baumer
Jimi Hendrix.
Not Jimmy.
@@toddvandell85 I think he meant Page.
Like Lennon too
the fact this was an AOL performance is like a flashback in itself...
*weird dial-up noises *
Cuánta potencia en cada instrumento, coronada con la voz de Chris! Simplemente gracias por subirlo 💪
not the best version of the song but the energy the guys had was unbeatable
so true, audio engineer didnt mix that bass/guitar too well either
Losing Chris cornell was a hard pill to swallow, music is getting harder to keep faith in with all the garbage coming out now
@@korazjian5251 You sound like my grandfather. Good music is still being released. Maybe not in the mainstream by big labels, but its still out there. You just gotta look for it.
@@Nothing2Interesting yeah that’s the thing the gems are hidden by all the filth now. I’m 29yrs old and have been around long enough to know that a lot of talent gets skipped on because of lack of PR and money for the bands. It’s all absurd anymore
Chris are losing the pitch all the time, but the energy is always awesome
SOUL POWER
Just to hear his voice again gives me chills. I appreciate ANYTHING that I haven't seen or heard before. I can't believe that I'll NEVER see him live again. Such memories since 1992.
Want to Be In A Band?....Do This amount of Heart. Amen
I got this, thanks cuz!
Que poder tenia esta banda loco! Me vuela la cabeza aún hoy! Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
One of the most powerful distinct voices in all history truly a legend.
To anyone complaining about CC's voice here, in this era he did struggle with vocal issues. Rock n roll is about being human too. He gave his best this particular day and still sounded amazing.
Sounded like a dying cat.

CHRIS CORNELL!
Soundgarden; Temple of The Dog; Audioslave
Still the best vocalist ever!!!
Scott Weiland e Layne Staley são melhores.
Layne Staley is the best
The imperfections is what makes it perfect
Exactly this!
Just a terrible day for Cornell. Fast forward to say 12 years later and see for yourself. He nails everything all the time. The fact that they decided to put this out even though Chris had major issues that day shows you they don’t care. The greatest voice in rock and roll history. Period.
@@ChrisP3000x AOL, I guess.
@@ChrisP3000x You're kind of an hostile fella, aren't ya? Calm down, please, I'm not claiming anything. I just wanted to participate, not bother you! I said "I guess" because I don't know who "they" is supposed to be. The commentator said "they decided to put this out", meaning (I think) how "they" knew the recording wasn't good and they released it anyway. Also, I think this video is old on YT, because I've seen it years ago, but it's a relatively fresh upload on this channel.
Chris struggling......and I fuckn love it!💪 RIP LEGEND
Wow! One of my favorite lead guitarists Tom Morello and bass guitar player Tim Commerford with drummer Brad Wilk - all from one of my favorite bands RATM. Chris may not be ok here but still he was and is always one of my favorites. I'll never forget my ever first Soundgarden favorite Pretty Noose. May you be well up there Chris Cornell.🙏✝️🤘
Cara, me dá uma alegria ver o Chris cantando “mal”, mostra que até os perfeitos comentem erros
É pq na verdade não são perfeitos kk
Gosto de videos assim pq mostram o que pode acontecer em um ''ao vivo''
@"live" is "evil" backwards ☝️🤓🤘😈
Absolut incredible. Jesus, how good the music, the voice by Mr. Cornell. Love Audioslave. Love Chris Cornell
That bass tone!

His vocal range is crazy
He was special❤
Incredible!!! Miss you endlessly Chris, rest easy!💔🤍
I absolutely love Audioslave!! I totally enjoyed this, RIP Chris Cornell we miss you dearly 😇💓✌️🤘
He's not dead - just merely went into hiding for awhile.. Can't you see? This is a message in a bottle to his true fans. He's still alive. These songs are a message to us. After how many years, six songs get uploaded a few hours ago? That's not random.

Chris Cornell is my motivation to sing heavy songs even though I'm a baritone like him. (probably low baritone in my case) He never knew that I exist but his voice told me that I can make a sound in heavy music if I train enough.
R.I.P Christopher! You'll always be remembered! Great performance of the band!
Chris was havin a rough day, but what got to tape is NOTHING but ABSOLUTE BRILLIANCE!!....sessions are one thing, when we're puttin it to tape for good, thats another, and Chris DELIVERED A SPECTACULAR album of killer shit!!.....i REALLY dug this vid!!......see how tight they were ?? ....ABSOLUTE BEAUTY!!!.....we'll never have the likes of Chris's vocals EVER again!!!....R.I.P. my brother, and i miss you!!!!!!....(i wanna toss in Layne, and Scott).....these young men, carved our grunge, and the world, like NO OTHERS!!!!.....talent dont come on trees!!!.....WOW!!....so glad i'm a musician, and appreciate the DEPTH of Audioslave, Soundgarden, STP and AIC!!......just lovely lads!!! @Tim Arnott Kudos for the shout out to our other insanely talented boys!!! Layne and Chris are a daily must have!!
That hurts to watch. I bet he couldn't talk for days after a recording sess 😵💫
Se aprecia hasta las fallas de Chris en esta performance, impresionante 👏
No one sings like you anymore 😢
Best singer I'm my life time..Born in 65 . Chris is the God of vocals!!!!!!
They should have left the reverb up a bit louder on Chris's mic.
Vocally, there was no sonic depth to Chris's voice and it sounded flat.
To me.
They brought the reverb up a little bit on Cochise. Should have been there the whole time.
The room/studio where Timmy, Brad, and Tom were playing also sounded a little too acoustically dead.
No reverb.
No echo.
Just kinda sonically flat.
Not particularly flattering to the music.
Or the vocals.
morello is a beast! it's like watching a wizard
I remember the first time I heard/saw Cochise on MTV pretty much shook my world, I thought right there "this band is my jam" That raw base that came from RATM plus that unique voice! I sound like grandpa but there aren't many bands rocking hard like these dudes did
He didnt sound his best but still smashed that scream at the ebd of cochise!
Chris was only human. And he shows us here. Amazing performance 👏
This song ,his voice, the bassist, bad ass song much respect!!💕
9:18 amazing Scream!
Brad Wilk is an incredible drummer 🥁🔥 Fun Fact, Brad used be in a band with Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, I think the band named was Indian Summer. 😊🩷🤘✌️
Glad they didn't auto tune the video.
No words to express how amazing this band was!!
Goosebumps.
La mejor banda, marco mi adolescencia ,🥲
Chris on his "bad day" is still better than any music produced in the last 20 years. He's a fucking trooper in this session. Obviously must have been sick or his voice was strained.
Velvet Revólver released better records and they are more current
I'm a big fan of Chris, but his voice here was not great, to say at least. Does anyone know why?
Vocal strain (due to heavy use of drugs, alcohol, smoking, etc + using everything his voice had to offer through the 80s and 90s) and a bad mix - in Show Me How to Live he spends the entire song struggling to hear himself, and this may ruin even the best ones' performances.
You could tell Chris was struggling something fierce on those chorus vocals.
La mejor grabación en cover de esta canción de Audioslave que jamás había visto.
You know … as a vocalist of a tribute band having had a very rough day last gig and panicking but pulling through the whole gig made me understand that the merit is in leaving every ounce of sweat and effort in your performance and the audience will still appreciate that you did that and didn’t chicken out … seeing Chris Cornell struggling through this session makes me connect even more with him, and I promise that even on tough days I will leave my heart and soul on stage, he was and will always be one of the greatest rock vocalist of all time. RIP you legendary legend❤
CHILE 🇨🇱🤘🏻
7:19 The Bass sounds so cool! Tim Commerford is the best! 🔥🔥
Tim looks like he's struggling to hold a tiger by the tail at 7.27
That was probably the best transition EVER.
The subtitles are wrong in chorus, the lyrics is "nail in my HEAD", not "hand". Chris Cornell said that answering a Twitter. The reference is Frankstein, not Jesus Christ.
Good to know! Thanks!
Unique voice.
Noboby compares.
❤
Man!!!! "Show me how to live" is very dificult to sing! OMG!
Que saudades, de uma boa musica.
Just to listen to the raw recording is amazing! I have loved these guys since the beginning. We were blessed to have Chris in our lives. To continue to have Tom and others is amazing.
I love how it shows how much they played off eachother
idk what people mean when they say this isnt a good version. Think, in the studio they take the best bits from many takes to make the song....this is one take.
Well....the main thing is Chris sounds pretty bad here. He's off key all over the place and it's pretty clear. I get that a lot of people often can't hear those things but it doesn't change the fact that he is out of key. And that can be distracting for those who can hear it.
I mean, if Tom Morello's guitar was out of tune do you think people would be saying how great he sounds? It's the same thing.
Also the mix is pretty muddy. Particularly the Bass. Yes he's purposely got distortion on it which is fine but it's being recorded too hot, which produces a different kind of distortion that's pretty clear to my ear.
Overall it's just not the best.
Compare it to this for example...
ruclips.net/video/N5bYtpom1us/видео.html
And you can clearly hear a difference. His singing in this version is excellent.
I also get that many fans are blinded by their favorite artists and think that anything they do is always good....I'm not sure why. Maybe they don't know music all that well and can't hear variations in pitch? I think anyone who is honest and unbiased can admit when a performance isn't at it's best. Cause I guarantee you Chris knew he wasn't singing this very well.
@@doublestrokeroll I have to agree with you there! Chris actually looks a little frustrated that he's not hitting the notes properly, they all look like they are having to concentrate too much to enjoy themselves. I don't know the first thing about recording or mixing etc but I do know that we all have our shitty days🤷♀️ Still, it was kickass to listen to!! And yup,CC prolly did know it wasn't his best- if he can deal with it,why can't his fans?!?!
Even when Chris Cornell was a little off he still sounded fantastic and of course the band is fire 🔥
Hell yes
Chris being human is what brought us here, whether it be pearl jam from the roots of Eddie or the honesty of Temple, this man raised and inspired a generation.
You took to a pretty noose too soon my friend, but you will forever show us how to live.
Chris Cornell....will be sadly missed. Another great musician we love and have lost. His memories will live on and so will his voice in music!!!
Thank you so much. You are the best! So much power! I was surprised to find out that the album was released on the same day I was born.
These six songs are important - listen to the words. This is message in a time bottle to us all.

It's often said that with genius comes great mental struggles, Chris definitely proved that true. Hope he's riding that highway wherever he is
That guitar strum along with that bass in a raw form, that's what I love.

Me encanta este grupo aún que no considero que sea su mejor versión, voz desgastada al punto de desafinar en un par de ocasiones. Pero es genial igual.
Increíble voz y potencia de la banda
I wish he still alive singing her lungs out as usual. I miss him. You'll never be forgotten.

Evergreen song lots of love from nepal 🇳🇵❤️
Great performances, perfect to show that he was a normal human being with his limitations.

Ótimas performances, perfeitas pra mostrar que ele era um ser humano normal com suas limitações.

Combinación perfecta de todos ellos, inigualable
oh man these songs are so difficult to sing, he does a great job but it is very taxing and exhausting to keep those notes and deliver them with strength like he is doing. I love Audioslave.
Now he’s very gifted. I miss him so much. When I didn’t know my left to my right he gave me this unbelievable power!!! He will always live in me. Let’s rock!!!!
Bloody hell... that is how he was singing when he was not ok... he was an incredible talented singer - one of the best ever. Legend
Chris just Literally got out of rehab very recently before they performed here @ the AOL Sessions. He’s clearly rusty and probably hasn’t sang them live very much when this was filmed. He still gives it his all & he might indeed not feel well in addition to possibly sound issues. Who knows! It still sounds cool AF with the alternative version they play! ✌️🤙😎
I absolutely love this! I just love it!
Soundgarden and Audioslave songs are so hard to sing. And nobody that can sing and or play at that level can be on every single day. Same with athletes. People and fans who talk about rock gods and guitar gods like they have other worldly powers, talents and abilities. Nope. It takes a lot of practice. And sometimes you butcher it. But we've all seen and heard Chris when he was on. And he was amazing.
