it was hard for me to hear...but it seemed like he had to scream it to hit it. which is by no means easy...but it's not liking singing it like chris did with a clean clear chest voice with added distortion on top. i can't say too much though, this is hard as hell to sing...i do it in bands and depending on the day i might blow myself out. it's a b4 which is only one whole step away from what girls are expected to sing in classical music...so yeah it's definitely high...sing this one whole step higher and you're singing in the female alto register.
@@MouthForWar124 i don't follow your logic. you shouldn't analysis music based on the fact it's a tribute? that seems a rather silly notion. if you do a screamo version of a michael jackson song as a tribute would people not comment on that and talk about the way the singer choose to vocalize? how does the intent of the song effect people's ability to try and understand how a person is achieving an effect? really don't understand how those two have a correlation in your mind. if i was doing a tribute to a girl singer...it's likely i might have to use falseto to hit her notes...would it be weird to point out that i have to use falsetto to hit her notes even though i'm just doing a tribute? no. are you under the illusion i was saying dave was doing a bad job? because if so that's not the case. i was simply pointing out the differences in how they attacked this vocal in their technique. the technique of vocal is interesting to me...why would the fact this is a tribute mean you shouldn't comment on the technique 2 different singers used to sing the same song?

Dave's vocals on this cover are phenomenal! I am actually very impressed with all DG's covers.
Fantastic tribute, Dave Grohl does a hell of a job here. And I want to mention Brad Wilk, he is such a great drummer.
He sung great. Hard to do CC
Badass Drummer!!
Props to Dave! You did this song justice! No one does Chris like Chris did but you showed mad respect!
He was the most unique voice in the brief history of Rock. I appreciate the tributes. No one is close to close. I saw them in 93 in NYC. My ears are still ringing. What he did was different, and will never be equaled.
It was a great show can't believe it was 5 hours, it went by so quick.
no kidding. When I left, I couldn't believe it was close to 1am.
Dave was just a few days past his 50th birthday when he performed this tune - and gave an incredibly gutsy performance. (LOVE the way Tom was totally digging it, too!) Nice tribute to Chris!
Dave sounds amazing through this whole thing.
Damn, Dave! Your talent knows no bounds... every time I turn around that guy is doing something bad ass
Must be great for Rob... To be able to play with a good drummer.
Daniel Todorov Lars is better drummer!
Such a misconception,Lars is and always has been a fucking awesome drummer ! You probably don’t know shit about drumming and just jumped on the Lars hating band wagon!!!
@@spacegrass2738 or maybe Lars admitted in an interview a bunch of years ago that he wasn't the best drummer.. That he was just kinda doing what worked. I find him to be just fine. He works. More like Ringo, instead of Peart.... But all the same, just as necessary
@@juanrezende4914 lars is a cry baby bitch. and sucks at playing drums.
Jade X I never said he was the best drummer just awesome.Lots of awesome drummers out there I just get sick of all the Lars hating over the years.Listen to In Justice for all.His drumming is fantastic on that album. You don’t get as big and last as long as Metallica with a shit drummer.
I could watch Rob play bass for hours the dude has so much fun. Saw him a couple years back with Suicidal Tendencies - he's the best he's ever been
Great tribute to Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl did a wonderful job with this song.
He just went all in, fantastic tribute
Wow that’s hard to cover and he did killed it!!
This is such a genuine performance between a group of beautiful musicians.
Unpopular opinion but Dave gives his heart and soul behind it. He hits vocal notes on the border of what is almost impossible for a male to hit. He sings his heart out. He gives he all and his scream is something else
I was lucky enough to be at this special tribute to the beloved Chris Cornell. This was THE performance of the evening.
After several dozen cellphone videos, I was glad to find your copy. High quality equipment makes all the difference.
I used a Sony RX100vi, which is an incredible camera. I usually have much better seats so the detail is a bit compromised, but even from the upper level half an arena away with the zoom lens maxed out, the clarity and lighting turned out surprisingly well.
@@whereisjerry I was looking through some of your other uploads, and you've got an impressive catalog. You must be one of the crazies like myself who is always willing to do whatever it takes to be up close. Fortunately, this time you didn't need to be because the energy in that place burst from the seams.
@@RESphoto Yeah, I'm one of those crazies. Lol Also, a huge fan of TotD and anything related to Morello. Reach Down and Show Me How to Live were probably my fav performances of the night. You can find videos that I shot of both on YT. Not as good as this though, which is probably my all time fav concert. Cornell stage dove right onto me while I was shooting...... ruclips.net/video/gBchw2BDFjA/видео.html
@@whereisjerry Holy shit, that's amazing! I'm going to save that video because it's all around great. I got to see him live only once, and I was about 25 rows deep. I would have tried harder to go to more with him, but I figured there was plenty of time. :(
@@RESphoto Thanks! Saw you went to the Bush/Cult/STP tour. I went too. Actually flew up to Portland OR because Alice in Chains was also on the bill. Here's a compilation that I put together of everything I shot at the last Audioslave show with Chris that you might enjoy..... ruclips.net/video/BOlhbwPbXjc/видео.html
You deserve every applause and tribute Chris! We miss you! Dave nailed it...
Never saw this until today. Three of my favorite bands on one stage. Very cool. Miss Cornell man, best voice in rock
Dave's voice is incredibly amazing!!!
Super Ultimate Cool Performance from a living Legend of Rock Music,,, Chris must be cryin up there for see this,,
Watching it again and let's be real: Dave did an EXCELLENT job here...best tribute there could be
Dave singing shows how nice Chris Sounded at that pitch. R.I.P
Cornell had such a distinct vocal style. This was great too!
Thank the gods we still have Dave! So much lost from that class of musicians!
Dave literally had to give himself a stroke to get up to Chris’s range. Amazing job though considering the mountain he had to climb lol
Sugarcat way to be watching this at the same time
Ennui Go indeed!
Sugarcat wasn’t trying to be weird, was having a long night and watched your comment pop up as I was viewing this- checkin out your page now
I literally spit my drink out reading your comment because it is so accurate, this was the Everest of vocals to climb, credit to Dave he gave it his all. But, Chris (and Layne's) range was unlike anything from that era (and possibly all time with exception to the great Freddie Mercury)
Sugarcat absolutely lol!
The crowds energy makes it through in the video,, energy to the band became evident. Who doesn't like sing along to everything that Chris ever did?
Excellent! Makes me really miss Chris. I wonder what really went down in that hotel bathroom and think about all the great music from Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog that are now mostly put on the shelf of history...
Nailed it! Great performance and jam band felt it what a gift to Chris! RIP CHRIS
Grohl did pretty dam good with this!!
No he didn't. Wake the fuck up. Dave Grohl is a fake ass piece of shit who cares more about looking good than being good. It's all attention for him. He sounded like shit singing this song. Without screaming or vocal effects, Dave is completely worthless... Unless looking pretty and being a gratuitous ham gives someone worth...
Jade X Bro, I don't know what you have against Dave Grohl but I can assure you, as someone who has seen the Foo Fighters live, he can both sing extremely well without effects and belt out screams. Also, he has never come off as an attention hog to me. He seems like a genuinely nice guy who is singing a song as a tribute to his longtime friend. I think he did a fantastic job.
@@No_Purchase_Necessary
That's total bullshit. Dave is immensely talented multi-instrumentalist and songwriter.
@@No_Purchase_Necessary shut the fuck up, nobody cares honestly, and it makes you look like a hypocrite
He was alright
Dave always doing his best, living his life like a fan of the artists he’s covers and pays tribute to. Never the big star, just the massive fan.
Morello, my god, what a badass guitar player.
Guitar God
I always loved how unique he was he might not be a shred god or crazy technically but he's got such a unique style
@@jordandillow5208 He can, or at least used to shred, then he realized everybody was doing that and sought to do his own thing
But sooooooo awkward to watch
@@noneyerbidness says you.
I'm not crying, this is great. I miss Chris.
this guys are truly amazing ..because they fill it up the members of the bands that been broked up or gone... they keep the bands alive on the staged.. and rocking on..
If these guys made a record, I’d buy 10 copies. That has some god damn fire in the nuts.
The singer looks like nirvana's drummer
There's a resemblance.
Err Dave Grohl was the Nirvana drummer wasn't he?
@@angusseletto1511, indeed. 😁
@@angusseletto1511 wooooosh
Nah he looks like the singer from foo fighters
How great to see a conglomerate of the top musos on this track! Brad and Tom kill their own song, and it’s fabulous to witness!!
Dave Grohl u r the man! Perfect song choice. I loved it!
Dave's the ever consummate Rock n Roller! He even falls off stage and recovers Rock n Roll!
A few months ago at the beginning of quarantine, I discovered this whole amazing genre and I'm realizing with a great deal of pride that what I was listening to really is the best of the best. I'm just now putting all the prices together of who's who, and I just get more and more disappointed that I didn't get to live through this.
Go watch the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert from Tuesday in LA!!! The best shit you’ll see in modern times!
Sonaron increíbles.. Saludos desde Chile.. Un afortunad@ a la persona que grabo esto..
No pensé que le saliera tan bien a este wn en la voz! Jeje en buena
Dave has quite an impressive vocal range, he nailed the chorus
it was hard for me to hear...but it seemed like he had to scream it to hit it. which is by no means easy...but it's not liking singing it like chris did with a clean clear chest voice with added distortion on top. i can't say too much though, this is hard as hell to sing...i do it in bands and depending on the day i might blow myself out. it's a b4 which is only one whole step away from what girls are expected to sing in classical music...so yeah it's definitely high...sing this one whole step higher and you're singing in the female alto register.
@@babyswithrabies Dude it's a tribute show, no need to look that much into it.
@@babyswithrabies, I can sing the chorus in the same octave either belting or in Mix. My mix actually sounds like CC’s voice (refer to my ‘Cochise’ cover on profile.) It’s actually a lot easier for me to sing CC in mix because of the tone and I don’t have to work my voice as much.
@@ReviewingGrifter yeah! i kinda can mix down that low but it's difficult. i'm a tenor and my mix (head dominate atleast) doesn't really work untill around the c#5 very consistently. i would have to raise the key to sing this in my mix but you're right it'd be easy feeling compared to belting and still sound mostly like chris in mix. just add a little bit of distortion and try and have some depth to it and there you are. getting that cordination in the first place is the hard part haha.
Dave is everyones best friend
I was at this. Unreal experience. Rest in peace Chris Cornell!!!
