I remember the first time I saw this and listened to this song. It was incredibly overwhelming and mindblowing. Today, 5 years ago, Chris Cornell left us and we miss him dearly. ❤️
This guy dealt with Depression for most of his life. From the outside looking in..He was perfection! Super talented, Amazing vocal range. He was also absolutely Gorgeous! Dark Hair, Blue eyes, 6'2. Even the straight guys know this man is Beautiful! I wish it had gone different for him.
I was a huge fan and went to a festival I didn't know he was playing at the year before he left us. I just heard him and said wait is that Chris Cornel and forced my friend to go watch him with me! Glad I got the chance.
I saw him play in Dublin with Soundgarden in about 2010 or so. It was amazing. I get sad thinking about it tho knowing what happened him. What a man. At least you'll always have his music.
I feel you. I had a chance during Soundgarden’s last tour. Then my best friend decided to get married that same day. In hindsight, I should have ditched the wedding.
Saw him in Wisconsin with Soundgarden on his third to last show. I was legitimately drepressed a few days later upon hearing of his passing. One of my all time favorite singers. My bummer is that I never saw Layne Stayley live. RIP to the legends.
Me neither; I somehow always managed to miss seeing him live-whether it was with Soundgarden, Audioslave, or solo. I think I recall Soundgarden playing once in Little Rock (I live in the LR, Arkansas metro area) in ‘93-94, but I recall being out of town at the time or something stupid like that. After that, about the closest place to catch them/him and other really big acts live was (is) Dallas, or sometimes Memphis. So that doesn’t exactly make it easier to attend, ya know. But I sure wish I’d tried harder!

John Doge Haha, you here?! ;) I don't suppose you ever checked out Superunknown, or Badmotorfinger, or any Soundgarden album at all? I mean, Dave has a really cool voice and I'm really trying to like Foo Fighters lol, but it doesn't cut through like Chris's, that I know for sure. Songs like Limo Wreck, The Day I Tried To Live, Slaves & Buldozers... I might aswell mention every Soundgarden song from the 90s. He just won't stop amazing and inspiring me.
Brutalyeah Oh hi, haha. Yeah I keep meaning to listen to Soundgarden actually, I instantly loved Black hole Sun and the video for it but it's pretty much the only song of their's that I know. I'll go and listen to some more of their stuff. I can't say I've heard of the other two, but I'll find some time for them. The Foos actually did actually did a documentary about their last album and the general music scene in various American cities. It shows how each one of the songs from their recent album was a result of the city that it was recorded in (eight songs recorded in and inspired by eight American cities), and there's a ton of history and interviews from people like Paul Stanley, Dolly Parton, and Barack Obama. For example in Seattle, sub-pop is absolutely central, so there's lots of focus on Soundgarden, Nirvana, and the grunge scene in general. Then at the end of each episode, after you've absorbed the culture of the city, they'll play the track that was inspired because of it. I feel as if their latest album really gives new meaning to their songwriting, they're not just catchy guitar hooks and power chords. If you want to get into them like you say, even after the amount of lists people made for you on the other thread, then I'd definitely recommend this, if not for the absolutely fascinating scale of America's music. I don't blame you if you don't watch it all, because eight - hour long episodes is a bit much to just watch from a recommendation, but if I were to suggest the one I thought was best, then if recommend the New York one, then see how you like it.
John Doge No doubt, Dave's scream is up there. But with Chris....there's just something else going on. He does it like it's the damn gospel. l'm a fan since day one, and even l thought it couldn't be real. l was certain it had to be production, but when l heard Chris do it LIVE....the earth moved! l felt that shit in my soul! LOL!
John Doge Hmm interesting, that documentary, I'll write it down so I can check it out later :). Sounds like a cool concept tho. Today I checked out One By One and In Your Honor, I like it alot more with the raw vocals! Black Hole Sun is really a cool tune but it's also unlike any other of their other songs. Once you get used to their sound and style of songwriting you'll have a great time, especially with Badmotorfinger, Superunknown, and Down On The Upside. Badmotorfinger took a while for me, the instrumentals sound a bit... scooped or something. But the vocals are sick. Anyway, when you listen to them a few times from front to back, you'll realize it's really special, and you'll thank me for the rest of your life haha.
It's the sickest music video ever. I love how Cornell and Morello are fully clothed, established. Whereas drummer Wilk and bassist Commerford are the young shirtless wonders of new talent. The oil rig looking scenery with the metal lift bringing the members to the top to meet the legend himself, Cornell. They can't wait to get to their instruments. How Wilk hits the drums as he sits down, and the insane style from both Morello and Commerford as they play...and then Cornell's voice of power and his overall presence... sickest music video!
This song is the perfect intersection of Rage’s amazing guitars and Cornell’s lyrics/vibe. Glad they evolved into their own thing, but this was a great moment in music.
Just came back from a Prophets of Rage concert in Greece. At some point they played this song instrumentally as a tribute to Chris. Really moving moment. I believed that I honoured his memory by screaming this song on top of my lungs...!
I'm still sad to this day and I don't think it will ever go away. I would have to never listen to any of his songs and wipe all his music out of my life in order to forget him. But, that's not happening, so...
Going through school a decade ago I'd listened to Soundgarden on the radio with such great hit songs. So I bought this album and was blown away by Chris's voice. Audioslave truly revealed how great his vocal and musical talents truly were. RIP Chris, your music still lives on!
same here. it was 2002 or 2003 and I brought guns n' roses "use you illusion I" and when I was paying they gave me as a gift a white cd that had an eagle and the words: audioslave cochise. they were giving that to anyone who was buying rock cd's that day. so I saw that and I didn't know what the fuck was that cochise????? audioslave??? so when I came home my curiosity for this strange cd was stronger that my desire to hear guns n' roses so I opened the cd and for my surprise that was not a cd. was a vdc with the video for cochise . so I put the video on and this song EXPLOITED in my tv. it was amazing, thanks chris. by the way here is a image of that vcd. is supossed to be very rare (this was in mexico is a promo video from a radio station in mexico) img269.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=844164621_cochise_122_465lo.jpg

@@DCAbsolutJohn1 that's incredible story, I always wanted to meet Zakk he's been my idol on guitar since I was 10. Also, Kittie was playing and me my friend got on their tour bus and smoked them up. Super cool chick's. Then we got on Motograters bus and smoked with them. I don’t know if anyone who wasn’t around in 2002 understands how crazily anticipated this band was when they came out, I think this video is really the only thing that captures it. The truck with Tom/Tim/Brad driving up while Chris waits at the top. The first time I saw this video at 15 with RATM being my favorite band who had broken up just two years prior…it was an out of body experience.

I was a huge fan and went to a festival I didn't know he was playing at the year before he left us. I just heard him and said wait is that Chris Cornel and forced my friend to go watch him with me! Glad I got the chance.
👏👏👏👏
CC was 6'3" tall dude.
I'm so sad I wasn't able to see him live. He's my favorite vocalist of all time. Such an amazing range and sound. We love you Chris ❤️
Saw them in Calgary, Alberta. Amazing show!
(Lyrics)
Well, I've been watching
While you've been coughing
I've been drinking life
While you've been nauseous
And so I drink to health
While you kill yourself
And I've got just one thing
That I can offer
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me, yeah
I'm not a martyr
I'm not a prophet
And I won't preach to you
But here's a caution
You better understand
That I won't hold your hand
But if it helps you mend
Then I won't stop it
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me, yeah
Drown, if you want
And I'll see you at the bottom
Where you crawl
On my skin
And put the blame on me
So you don't feel a thing
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me
Go on and save yourself
And take it out on me, yeah
Thanks for lyrics while listening

Dave Grohl's scream though...
John Doge
Haha, you here?! ;)
I don't suppose you ever checked out Superunknown, or Badmotorfinger, or any Soundgarden album at all?
I mean, Dave has a really cool voice and I'm really trying to like Foo Fighters lol, but it doesn't cut through like Chris's, that I know for sure. Songs like Limo Wreck, The Day I Tried To Live, Slaves & Buldozers... I might aswell mention every Soundgarden song from the 90s. He just won't stop amazing and inspiring me.
Brutalyeah
Oh hi, haha.
LOL!
John Doge
Hmm interesting, that documentary, I'll write it down so I can check it out later :).
Best debute ever. I remember when this first came out. seen it debut live on tv too.
plus how they arrive in the small truck. leaving the little ''machine'' ..now

RIP Chris, We needed a legendary voice like yours in this crazy time.
This song is the perfect intersection of Rage’s amazing guitars and Cornell’s lyrics/vibe. Glad they evolved into their own thing, but this was a great moment in music.
His passion on the vocals in this song really make it come to life, Chris rocked this one for sure.
It always makes me smile that after tearing the roof with that utterly gritty rock song, the video ends with them in a group hug.
Chris Cornell has the greatest rock singing voice ever. R.I.P. Mr. Cornell. Your music had got me through some tough times and I'll never forget that

Going through school a decade ago I'd listened to Soundgarden on the radio with such great hit songs. So I bought this album and was blown away by Chris's voice. Audioslave truly revealed how great his vocal and musical talents truly were. RIP Chris, your music still lives on!
When I first heard the song, I went and bought the album straight away. Sound Garden's lead singer with RATM band? Hell fucking yes.
His unique voice never been gone always scream in my ears Will miss u Cornel #bestvocalintheworld
First song I ever heard from Audioslave.. RIP Chris Cornell.
I was blown away from that moment on. RIP indeed.
Same here, will always be one of my favorites
Same, they play it for the Kansas City Chiefs player intro onto the field. Will never be the same without him in our world.
Ditto.
same here. it was 2002 or 2003 and I brought guns n' roses "use you illusion I" and when I was paying they gave me as a gift a white cd that had an eagle and the words: audioslave cochise. they were giving that to anyone who was buying rock cd's that day. so I saw that and I didn't know what the fuck was that cochise????? audioslave??? so when I came home my curiosity for this strange cd was stronger that my desire to hear guns n' roses so I opened the cd and for my surprise that was not a cd. was a vdc with the video for cochise . so I put the video on and this song EXPLOITED in my tv. it was amazing, thanks chris. by the way here is a image of that vcd. is supossed to be very rare (this was in mexico is a promo video from a radio station in mexico)

I'll never forget this time. There was so much good music on the radio. Damageplan, Velvet Revolver, Black Label Society, and Audio Slave
Hellz yeah. Ended up sitting next to Jason Bonham & Zakk Wylde on a flight back to LA 23 years ago… epic convo. Gave Zakk some of my Jack - I got signed sticks and memories
@@DCAbsolutJohn1 that's incredible story, I always wanted to meet Zakk he's been my idol on guitar since I was 10. Closest I got to meeting any of them, was catching one of Dimebaggs guitar picks he tossed into the crowd the night Damageplan played with BLS. Also, Kittie was playing and me my friend got on their tour bus and smoked them up. Super cool chick's. Then we got on Motograters bus and smoked with them. They said had to leave because they needed to spend time in the cemetery and sleep there. Epic. I think those are the guys from Five Finger Death Punch.
I remember this feeling too. I was 15 too haha.
It was the first time I can remember hearing the term "supergroup", but I was only 13ish. Definitely in the top 5 of all supergroups to me, maybe my number 1.
May you Rest In Peace, Chris. You were a true inspiration to an entire generation of young teenagers, just like me. Respect! From a Brazilian fan. \,,/

Multiple generations! Soungarden in the 90s and Audioslave in the 00s.
90s-2005 is the era of broken home people singing there hearts out. This generation we grew up with out father or mother or abused home. But we give the world some of the most realistic song ever written.

The ending is so cool: the whole video is just off the wall bonkers and then at the end they all just peacefully embrace each other in a hug.
Sometimes I think when there hugging at the end there all asking themselves "did that all just happen just now?! " lol dam...
The intersting thing too is there s no girls without clothes ...i really respect the band
In your face rock n roll. The louder the better on this one. Damn I miss CC
Being 8 9 years old in Ecuador , hearing audioslave for the first time I dismissed it . Didn’t appreciate it . Little did I know how much it would help me with my depression and childhood trauma. Forever thankful to Chris Cornell and all the greats in this band . Not seeing them live will forever be one of my deepest regrets .

It's funny, I was in high school in the US when RageATM's 1st album came out and then grunge etc, so when Audioslave formed and then the album date was announced, holy shit, it was like time stood still for like 6 months until the release, it couldn't come fast enough especially after they dropped Chocise 🤤😫
Dude, they really made a hell of an entrance to the music world when they launched this single; this is how a supergroup must sound. To this day it hasn't lost ANY of the punch!

The titanium vocals of Chris Cornell as Rolling Stone once described him. R.I.P.
he was just a really good musician, husband, father, friend and therapist. His band Soundgarden allowed me to make a connection to my teenage sons. We had a place to meet and they really just showed me one video after another until I got what they were trying to tell me! For that alone I could love him but then it wasn't one great song after another and we'll, I'm still crying. Thanks Chris for all you have us!
Even to this day, this video gives me chills. I set up fireworks displays as a part time gig. This had to be an insane setup.
