all of you Texans who got to see Pantera all those times up close and personal before they became Gods, you are very lucky human beings, thanks for the post
Damm I never heard his voice so good live. Ridiculously good here. Watching these videos Im realizing he gave his all... sacrificing his voice... to get them where they were.
Everyone thinks of dimebag who made this band, and they are probably right. But gdang it, can't help but be in awe of phil's vocals on this one. Wouldn't be a band without Vinnie, Pretty glad dimebag stuck by his bro and made this band work.
Vinnie Paul, god damn he is good. So far i haven't been able to listen to any pantera songs without air drumming with the song to the best of my capabilities. Vinnie's drumming is the reason why i am taking up drumming soon. There is just so much groove in there, i could be in the worst mood ever, and listening to Pantera's groovy metal music always gets me into a better mood, without failing.
@@erikhartley2494 Late on this. I thought he said in interviews that these were falsetto but he had a hard time hitting them "on command" or with consistency. His speaking voice was always pretty deep for this kind of vocal. I think he called Pantera a "young man's game" because of this.
If you’ve never played guitar before than you have no fucking idea how much muscle stamina you need in your lower arm and hand to play this. Fucking brilliant!
This song has so much energy, it has the effect of almost spilling over itself. One of my favofites off of CFH and one of my all time favorite solos from Dime. What a masterclass.
Damn, he could hit those notes live!! That's why I love Cowboys from hell. Still had this on there. What a voice. Dude, he's the best rock singer ever. I'm sorry. The range is incredible. The tone. I like this version of him instead of the angry guy too, sorry. Too bad he got too dark. Glad he is doing well now at least.
My older brother was at one of their old shows. He said it was a fucking experience. After the show my brother said he was fucking amped up for 4 days. When Pantera became metal titans he would go to their shows. His last Pantera concert he would see was in 2000. When damageplan started he went to 3 shows he actually tried to get tickets for December 8th but my mother had gotten really sick so he didn’t go. He says that he’s grateful and thankful he didn’t go cause as he puts it “ I didn’t want to see my hero and idol die right infront of me”. Me and him are gonna go see Pantera on the 16th of August.
OMG! What a kick ass song! Unquestionably Awesome! As others have said, Finally a live version of Shattered! It would have been so incredibly awesome to Pantera back in the early 90's! Thank you for posting this historic live video!
i love this fucking song very much i guess they performed it a few times back in CFH era i was wondering if there's a live version of Medicine Man if somebody has it let me know!!!
Yeah, I can't ever imagine playing ONE song that clean and tight, let alone a WHOLE SET like that. Amazing that they played everything at that level. That only comes from true love of the instrument.
@@fovnwetovnwviqerv0qe8rj0er4 Yeah that is true. One thing is for certain though. His voice got messed up after the great southern trendkill to the point where he couldnt sing cowboys from hell tracks.
The tone of Anselmo's voice was always unique, never mind who he tried to emulate, that makes his voice unique. His voice was unique from the beginning in 1988. It's one of the voices in metal that you can easily recognize, even if you don't know the song.
+nicolhaidi Yeah, they played it a few times back in the really early 90s before Phil "shattered" his voice (no pun intended). I often wonder how much better Vulgar Display Of Power would have sounded had Phil approached the vocals the same way that he did on Cowboys From Hell.
chokeyoursoul Not really, if you listen to his lower vocal inflections on Cowboys, they are about as deep as the stuff he did later. His voice did change, largely because he shredded it by adopting the style that he did and slashing his vocal chords with cigarettes. P.S. - The vocal style that Phil has after Cowboys was not new, Chuck Schuldiner and a few others were doing something similar at least 6 years prior.
+hellsunicorn Chuck's style is different, Phil wasn't doing death metal vocals but more of hardcore, i don't recall any vocalist of those years sounding agressive as him
chokeyoursoul So very few people were doing hardcore before Phil? That'll be news to a lot of people in New York. And to be clear, Chuck's style on Death's earlier stuff wasn't that different, apart from the fact that Phil would also occasionally sing like Layne Staley. What made Pantera's later stuff stick out was the ultra-heavy character of the guitars, which came from Dimebag loading up his guitar sound with chorus effects. Sadly it got old really fast, though admittedly I didn't like Pantera that much during the latter days and got more into death metal as the 90s went on.
Fuck, this is so good. I've always loved the album version and this delivers even moreseo, probably because they had just recorded the album. I love Phil's interjections during the stops, the song's just so good he has to yell out 'fuck!' when he has a chance.
Amazing, all members sounding awesome and hungry for success, damb I wish Phil kept that voice, love the gravel voice too but both combined is Heaven. Vinnie is an absolute beast on those drums Rex is holding down a tight rhythm and Dime is out of this world playing those licks. Long live Pantera 🤘❤
Dime and Vinnie shared a groove only blood Brothers could create. RIP to both. Anselmo's hair was awesome before he shaved it all off, I'm planning to get an undercut/mohawk like he had in this video really soon 🙂
Phil had such a freaking amazing range, technique and talent…its almost a shame he intentionally sang wrong and ruined his voice, but if he didnt we wouldnt have had the same pantera, also RIP Dime and Vinny…dont think anything needs said about them
Damn, if it wasn’t for Phil’s voice, this would sound exactly like the studio version. Don’t get me wrong, Phil here is great, but the studio version is just unreachable, even for him.
You just brought us the most rare shit ever. period.
Now I can rest in peace.
Dime's solo sounds almost exactly like it does on the album. I love that solo.
+downfan1 he use to do that really often is fucking unbelievable
Is perfect song
Yeah!!!
@hikaps yea the live shit sounds exactly like the recording its bone chilling to me thats why i got dime and van halen then the rest
FINALLY! I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HEAR A LIVE VERSION OF THIS SONG LET ALONE A VIDEO OF THE ACTUAL PERFORMANCE! FACKIN A GREAT!
yup I have been searching forever. great upload.
all of you Texans who got to see Pantera all those times up close and personal before they became Gods, you are very lucky human beings, thanks for the post
My friend and I went to every show at Backstage and a couple at The Basement in Dallas.
That's me Headbangin up against the Stage on Dimes side.. I was 19 yrs old. The absolute best n most unforgettable experience in my life
I was at this show… I was 16.
How the fuck does one play this song live???
Extreme pure fucking talent. Tight as FUCK!
Pantera rules
Phil s voice is really good here
That solo is played fucking perfectly.
Damm I never heard his voice so good live.
Ridiculously good here. Watching these videos Im realizing he gave his all... sacrificing his voice... to get them where they were.
imagine being in the crowd and listen to this shit and realize "damn, this is THE metal sound"
Is nobody gonna mention how much of a brilliant bassist Rex is?
Rex. ❤
Really good stage craft too, kinda owned the floor! 👌
To me this was the best Pantera era!. The music was heavy but still melodic . And his voice could go from Halford to Hetfield in one song...
No doubt, I wish Phil kept this range for the later Pantera albums, it's hard for me to imagine but I bet they would've made it work
He couldn't kept this voice with all the drugs, alcohol and cigarettes
Everyone thinks of dimebag who made this band, and they are probably right. But gdang it, can't help but be in awe of phil's vocals on this one. Wouldn't be a band without Vinnie, Pretty glad dimebag stuck by his bro and made this band work.
The previous singer was replaced because the band wanted to get a heavier sound, they wanted to thrash even before phil's arrival
The whole band made the band ! Godamn if all them ain't as sharp as O.J Simpsons knife
Yeah and no mention to rex
you forgot about Rex!
Rex played a big part in the studio, with riffs and and other shit.
Everyone knows the entirety of Pantera is clutch but the bassist is seriously underrated
Rex is my fuckin man he was always neck in neck with dime, his tone is awesome
Vinnie Paul, god damn he is good. So far i haven't been able to listen to any pantera songs without air drumming with the song to the best of my capabilities. first live shattered video in my whole life. Great Stuff in here
I saw it live a few times at Backstage.
Unbelievable performance! What a band they were.
This is so fucking awesome that I can't even describe it. First and only Shattered live video! Many thanks dude, let the metal be with you \m/
Dime is a machine of precision from the first note played. What a player
Damn Phil had a solid falsetto back in the day, also RIP Vinnie
Demon Dethchase I’m about 99% sure it wasn’t falsetto. He claims they were full out notes.
@@erikhartley2494 Late on this. I thought he said in interviews that these were falsetto but he had a hard time hitting them "on command" or with consistency. His speaking voice was always pretty deep for this kind of vocal. I think he called Pantera a "young man's game" because of this.

That DUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUDUH is fucking INSANE. They must be the most talented band of all time!!
Power Metal/CFH crossover
best pantera song ever!!
This song has so much energy, it has the effect of almost spilling over itself. One of my favofites off of CFH and one of my all time favorite solos from Dime. What a masterclass.
Wow! You can definitely hear the Judas Priest influence. I didn’t think I’d be able to see this live. Thanks so much.

The voice. The guitar. The amazing. Please don’t leave us RUclips.
dime was on fire man
ALWAYS!!!
When wasn't he? Best metal guitarist I've ever heard and no one can tell me otherwise
Everyone here was
YESSS!! FINALLY!! I have been searching for a live version for years!!! I can now die a happy man!
OMG! What a kick ass song! Unquestionably Awesome! As others have said, Finally a live version of Shattered! It would have been so incredibly awesome to Pantera back in the early 90's! Thank you for posting this historic live video!
That solo... pure gold. Amazing performance.... thank you for uploading this!

Gracias por subir este video, lo busque y no lo encontraba en ninguna pagina hasta hoy... Increible
That right there just shows how f****** badass Pantera was.
Yeah, I can't ever imagine playing ONE song that clean and tight, let alone a WHOLE SET like that. Amazing that they played everything at that level. That only comes from true love of the instrument.
OMFG HOLY GRAIL
the quality of the sound is amazing! thanks for uploading! such a tight band. R.I.P. Dime and Vinnie!
FINALLY! DAMN! THANK YOU FOR THE UPLOAD
That was freaking awesome, thanks for the upload dude....always wanted to see Dimebag play this live!!!
Yeah, Anselmo used to sing
tamabasher i prefer the vocals from 1994,1995
@@edybocman76 His voice used to be more unique in '88-'91
@@fovnwetovnwviqerv0qe8rj0er4 Sure, like his voice was any unique in the great southern trendkill and reinventing the steel.

I FUCKIN LOVE THIS SONG EVERYTHING IN IT IS PERFECT
the drums are crystal clear, even with an old video camera. Compare to modern live drums which are an unlistenable muddy mess of bass noise
When you got James Hetfileds vocal chords but you're doing a Judas Priest tribute.
Dude pantera is just killing it ! Not one bad thing in this video ! Bands firing like a fucking v8 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Fuck yes one of my very favourite Pantera songs live! Thank you!
Вокал Ансельмо - просто невероятно...
OH MY GOD YES!!! I thought they never played it live! This is the fucking best, thank you so much!

YEAHHHHHH fucking love this song.... the solo was perfect
I swear that solo has to be one his fastest, it's so blazingly fast I'm surprised the fretboard didn't catch fire, lol.
This is fucking gem. Gives me chills how many time I listen to. I can sell my soul to see that live.

There is just something about Vinnie, i love his style soo fucking much. Such a talented drummer, i enjoy listening to his groovy fills and beats.
I never heard those high screams in Anselmo

OH MY GOOODD THIS IS AWESOMEEE I LOVE YOU
Got to Party with them in Dallas and Houston..some of the best times of my life partying with them ...even sold em skunk weed for a bit🤘🤠🤘
I’m down in the crowd on the floor somewhere. I think I practically grew up in that club. LOL.
Dime and Vinnie shared a groove only blood Brothers could create. RIP to both. Anselmo's hair was awesome before he shaved it all off, I'm planning to get an undercut/mohawk like he had in this video really soon 🙂
Jesus he nailed the fuck outta that solo
ROCKMORE kills it again! What great times!
Rob Halford influences... excelent !!! Gold years. ..
Around this time Phil has the best voice for any type of singing to the highest octives to the very lowest. These guys were gods even then
This show (january 20th 1990)) was before the Cowboys From Hell released album (july 24th 1990) ?
YES IT WAS!!! THANK YOU FOR ENJOYING MY VIDEO MEMORIES!!! GODFATHER
incredible
Holy shit there's video proof Phil could actually hit those notes!
Phil had such a freaking amazing range, technique and talent…its almost a shame he intentionally sang wrong and ruined his voice, but if he didnt we wouldnt have had the same pantera, also RIP Dime and Vinny…dont think anything needs said about them
hey does anyone have the song medicine man a live version?
They were still using the 80s logo for the banner. This early 90s era is so sick
Flawless execution!!!

Fuck yeah man thanks for this 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Amazing song🤙🤙🤙🤟🤟🤟
Damn, if it wasn’t for Phil’s voice, this would sound exactly like the studio version.
Don’t get me wrong, Phil here is great, but the studio version is just unreachable, even for him.
guitar is so sick
Always
Holy shit that was fucking awesome
Thiss so fuckin' awesome!
I thought I would never be lucky to see that in my life
This is really rare and should never die.
