Welp, Google still hasn't released a capable LLM API. PaLM 2 is only available to select partners. Meanwhile Open Source LLMs are accelerating at an ever increasing rate. Still not OpenAI level, but with how slow big tech is moving (for "safety"), that may not be the case for long.
The Pixel and surface are in the same boat But I am seeing Pixels out in the wild way more than i see surface's qnd the price is great I hope they keep making them instead of giving all to Samsung and their one ui nonsense
I wonder if i’m just personally invested in it but I actually still enjoy Google Assistant more than chat gpt. Like, when will chat gpt actually be available to the masses?
Wait is this a clip from the main podcast or a new main podcast? Are these clip reposts bringing in more ad dollars cause I'm pretty sure I'm skipping full episodes I wouldn't have skipped because I'm sick of getting excited for that sweet new hit of vergecast only to realize I'm rewatching segments from the longer show I already saw
We don't repost old shows, don't worry. This is indeed a clip, but from today's full show, which will be posted in full later today. We wanted to get this segment clip out early since it's relevant to today's Google IO show.
I agree with Nilay. Pixel is not a real business. After how many years Google haven't even expanded into so many countries. It's still available to onlt few countries that have official Google there. No distributors in any other countries are allowed to sell the Pixels. And even 5G is not available for pixel's owners who try to bring it to their own countries. It's like Google intentionally doesn't want it to grow. In a nutshell, Pixel is just a rebranded Nexus for a more expensive price. They said they were serious about making phone business then. But that's what it is that they lack leaders who are committed to the hardware business. Most likely because initial investment in hardware is not profitable before a while. And they're not committed to spending a 100% commitment in hardware.
I totally agree with the Pixel dissolution in 5 years but I thought your ex-colleague Dither was supposedly going go help Google phone division specifically their marketing team. Did he?
This video will age very well in 3 hours or very badly

Should have called Dieter to ask about Android and Google’s mess.
This isn't uploaded on Spotify??
"When wsa the last time the iPhone was made meaningfully, powerfully better?" lol
Google is such a frustrating company to think about. Terrible leadership for all these problems to exist.
Bard told me I could get from Monterey to Yountville in 30 min. I'd have thought it would have access to Google Maps but apparently not!
BTW it said "a 30 min drive" and didn't mention a helicopter or plane or anything. 🤓
G talk as twitter type platform. Can be named G Chat as well well.

David, Nilay---ease up on the face smoothing features on your cameras. Got some Predator DVD waxiness going on.
