Greg mate,if youve still got your passport quietly sell your possessions without letting your ex know dont worry about your key money on the condo, buy yourself a plane ticket back to Australia and leave. Its gone pear shaped mate, youve lost your bar and now they can smell blood, come home whilst you still can.
I'm amazed you're still here; not sure why you are, that's your choice. All I do know is this cannot be good for you mentally or physically, so you need to start looking at the benefits of making a new start. I've been in a similar situation, and until I broke free I didn't realise how stressed out I was and the effect it had on me mentally.
Greg be careful mate. I had a land dispute on my wife’s land where a neighbour built a temporary structure on the driveway. I carefully pulled the structure down and placed it back on their land. I did no damage and there was no words spoke in anger. Next day I was arrested for criminal damage and had my passport confiscated and was told they are going to court which could take months. I quickly settled and decided to apologise and pay Bt 10,000. Was I happy of course not ( I was seriously angry and disappointed with myself) but I realise months later that I made a good decision and didn’t choose a fight I might not win. The outcome was I live to fight another day with my passport in tact and no criminal record. Odds are not I your favour and more than likely they have already arranged your fate and already arranged to pay the boys in blue a percentage or a cash advance and settlement. Just my feelings on this matter. Best wishes whatever you choose to do.
@@frankiefourfingers6717 well said mate, you even had a wife and the land was in her name and they still wanted baht. Greg just doesn't realise how the court system works nor does he understand the procedure of Appeals and they usually can go on for a decade. One needs deep pockets

Generally, if you’re being sued and you haven’t been charged by the police, it’s a personal matter! Which means jail time is null and void as it’s a personal case not an offence that you got charged with.
seems odd , that if you realized that they , the police and intruder had very limited or no understanding of English , why did you not just request an English speaking lawyer at the time instead of taking the risk of being misunderstood . I thought you had a lawyer that you regarded as a good friend so why did not not call him instead of facing the police by yourself. or contact the tourist police or even a lady friend that can speak English . I am sure that less than 5 minutes searching on Mrs Google that you would have found an English speaking lawyer ,actually I just tried it and had results withing a minute.
