This is already 3 years old, but I just came across this video. What a great way to promote a photography book! The story and technical details behind each of these photos make them a lot more interesting, even though they are all extremely stunning. Gavin’s honesty about post processing tricks is a real bonus and truly appreciated by all of us, I am sure.
In a year so full of challenges, outside of those we normally welcome, you’ve managed to stay focused, provide some much needed humour and produce some extraordinary images. Not only that, you’ve worked very hard to share them with us. Can’t thank you enough for the content that helped pass the time that would have otherwise been spent doing what was more important, being with family and painting with light. Keep up the good work Gavin. I’ll celebrate when you hit 100K subs that you much deserve. Happy shooting and thanks for sharing.
Wow, photographer of the year, well least in my eyes. What an absolutely stunning collection for 2020, that best comprehensive collection I've seen. Bravo!
Awesome video Gavin as usual, love how you talk through these images, Very informative and have learnt a great deal from you. One of the best, definitely the funniest and most positive Photography channels on RUclips!
It's been genuinely a lot of fun that you have shared most of these as you've lived them. Thanks for the journey, the teaching, the humor and the expertise. The results are remarkable.
Gavin you are a beast landscape photographer! That was an incredible video. Thanks for the content and advice! I'm a better photographer just from watching. Landscape photography is my destiny. Beauty, adventure, and grit. Thanks again! Can't wait for the book.
Thanks for this. My wife and I got engaged at that Garry Oak location. Now, after 25 years of marriage, we're still happy and she still tolerates my oddness. Now watching your video, it's wonderful to watch you doing your teaching and making that photograph in a spot that is so special to my heart.
Had to make the purchase. 1. Because the book looks great. 2. It’s been a hard year for everyone and you genuinely bring people joy and I hope the support helps you to continue to do so through 2021 and beyond. Magnifeekwa.
I think this was the best promotional video I have seen..ever! I made sure to click the like button 3 times ;) You really got amazing pictures, and I really love the way you create these videos. I wish you best of luck with your upcoming projects!
Awesome shots, can’t wait for the book to arrive so i can keep looking at these shots and more. Please keep photographing for the world to enjoy as we need some beauty in our lifes right now. Stay safe!
Some incredible shots there that made the book buddy .. that fog was just orgasmic tho and your best tip is absolutely spot on !! Resilience also comes to mind .. looking forward to chatting with you about this and more shenanigans ..
I can honestly say your channel has to be my favourite channel , it has everything , its educational , inspiring and funny, I can sit at my desk in an evening while my missus is watching her boring soaps and quite often I am in absolute hysterics at your antics epescailly when working with Grump , Nick and Michael , keep up the great work :)
Those images are absolutely breathtaking. I am lucky to live in Scotland as we have beautiful landscapes and have learnt a lot from your tutorial. Hope to have you all year round. Thank you Gavin.
Gavin .. I’ve just taken up landscape photography later in life as a hobby and have been binging a lot of land-photo vlogs (and having some spectacular failures with my camera and composition work - but improving and loving it). Thank you so much for mixing in some shenanigans to keep it fun. I do not for a second fail to appreciate how skilled and seriously you are about your craft. I pre-ordered ‘Chasing Awe’ a couple of weeks ago and I am patiently excited for it to arrive. I’m looking forward to 2021 and wishing you success!
I love what you just said about that one word (Persistence), that is the key to it all. You must be persistent, and patient. After all, you must be there to get that special shot. All the shots in this video are fantastic. Great job Gavin. Peace!!!!
I like the warmer light photo of the tree in the fog. The saturation in the green tones works well. You definitely had a good 2020 photographically. There’s one advantage of landscape photography in a pandemic. Staying socially distant is so much easier than being in an urban area.
Wow! Epic shots and interesting to hear how they were captured. Not sure I'm going to get the same type of images shooting on a wet drizzly day here in Basingstoke though :-) On the other hand - persistence, persistence :-)
Now that I'm drunk! Because a friend told me that I had to take a drink every bloody time you mention "boooook"! I will have to get sobber and re-watch this one!! Just joking, awesome photos and great video. Great job!
I watched some of the videos when you captured them. The laughter, fun, and seeing where you were. I enjoy how you`re relaxed, joking, laughing. Making your adventure FUN. Not a "guide" with a drone like voice.. i really enjoy your videos.
Having watched your vlogs over the last year or so, I recognise the images and the journey of making them. What is fantastic about this vlog is the passion that you have for photography shines through. It is this that makes your channel so inspirational. Yes, I enjoy the skits, obviously, and the inspiration to get out there and experience the moments that we try and capture. Cheers Gavin, excellent work.
Fantastic collection of images there Gavin, and Collapse of an Empire is absolutely epic. At this rate, you might not have to 'borrow' Uncle Grumpy's 'precious' that much longer...
WOW !! When you put those images together in one video it's absolutely amazing. So many "shot of a lifetime" images captured. Not that I didn't know you were an accomplished photographer, but putting them together ................. well it just blows me away. I'm in "awe" sir.
Awesome work Gavin - looking forward to getting the book! Stuck in lockdown in London but trying to "persistent"ly take the camera out every day on my commute and take street shots - maybe make a book someday too..
Cracking video Gav, off into hospital Saturday for spinal surgery so I’m going to buy myself the F4 road trip to keep me going. Thanks for the laughs and thanks for the inspiration
Gavin, I've only been subscribed to your channel for less than a year, but I've enjoyed every minute of it. Your photography is first rate and your humor is rated, well... let's just say it's right up there as well! I just pre-ordered your book, and can't wait to spend hours enjoying it. Although I'm just a hobbyist, I'm sure it will provide me with a ton of inspiration for my own photography. Watching this video on my big screen TV and seeing those images was truly amazing. That got me thinking, you should figure out how to sell your epic shots so that I (and others, I suppose) could enjoy them on continuous loop 24/7 on our ginormous 4K TV's! Keep up the good work and thank you! Matt from Pittsburgh
Nice photos. Thanks for sharing them and the tips. I especially like your camera setup at 11:08 because I was in the exact same spot in August of 2020 and setup the same way, except I had two tripod legs inside the guardrail.
Love your enthusiasm Gavin, I really do, possibly because I feel the same way when things fall into place and in doesn't get much better than being in the right place with sunlight filtering thru mist / fog. A word of advice to anyone willing to listen (and something Gavin alludes to): When nature is paying you a rare moment of respect, take a moment to look around and 'absorb' the scene, without 'camera eyes'. I would often review my images of epic scenes and note that I couldn't really remember the experience of 'seeing' it. I was too immersed in capturing it to actually experience it.
Those are some pics to be proud of - nicely done. I do want that book - I am wondering for that shipping price, are the Mounties delivering the book on horseback themselves?????
What's not to like? Mind you it's even better when Amanda and Herr Grumpenfuhrer tag along, but a gratifying crop for 2020 and I couldn't agree more about your top tip!

The wave shot was absolutely incredible!! So very Beautiful!!!

Thanks a lot David.
Wow, photographer of the year, well least in my eyes. What an absolutely stunning collection for 2020, that best comprehensive collection I've seen. Bravo!
My wife and I were watching this and she says, despite all his wise cracks he is a good photographer. Gavin, you have a new fan.
Your photos and editing from 2020 were fantastic! I think my favorites are the third and fifth :)
Thanks mate :)
Awesome video Gavin as usual, love how you talk through these images, Very informative and have learnt a great deal from you. One of the best, definitely the funniest and most positive Photography channels on RUclips!

Each photo is better than the last. Exquisite. Every single one.
Amazing photos Gavin, brilliant ❤️👏
Absolutely spectacular Gavin! All the best for 2021.
Gavin you are a beast landscape photographer! That was an incredible video. Thanks for the content and advice! I'm a better photographer just from watching. Landscape photography is my destiny. Beauty, adventure, and grit. Thanks again! Can't wait for the book.
Thanks Brandon.
One of your best videos, if not the best, that you have done. You have truly proven you have great landscape photography skills.
Perfect place for it. I bet is was a lot quieter back then.
@@fototripper I can only imagine how many takes you had to do for your video, because of hiker walk-by's.

Thanks, Gavin. Beautiful images, especially loved the one from Cape Disappointment and the sunrise panorama of the river and the mountains.
Wicked Good!!!!! Boston equivalent to "Epic" shots.

Thanks a lot Paul. Glad my subtle message got through ;)

Stunning images Gavin and even better to have gotten them in such a year as 2020 was. My absolute faves are the wave images. Incredible.

Definitely love the warmer tree image. More ethereal, light is more intense but not overdone and just the right amount of fog. Juice-tastic!!
I love what you just said about that one word (Persistence), that is the key to it all. You must be persistent, and patient. After all, you must be there to get that special shot. All the shots in this video are fantastic. Great job Gavin. Peace!!!!

Yes!! Totally agree about Las Vegas. You stated it so succinctly.
Very good show - i love when you have the blend of teaching and normal conversations it is an effect style for you.
Awesome images! Truly enjoyed the addition of a glass of wine while you reviewed your images. in part because it enabled me to grab a glass myself.
That shot of the tree is straight out of a fairy tale Gavin.
"And that one thing is persistence." Drat! I was hoping you were going to say, "Chocolate!"
Now that I'm drunk! Because a friend told me that I had to take a drink every bloody time you mention "boooook"! I will have to get sobber and re-watch this one!! Just joking, awesome photos and great video. Great job!

Brilliant video - the photos are superb, brought to life by your excellent narrative and yes, you can put that in the book!
Bloody brilliant images Gavin, especially the wide sea shot.
