Your final night composite is fantastic! I also wanted to say that as much as I enjoy all your and Amanda's goofiness, it was nice to see you include several clips of her being normal and/or contemplative, simply enjoying the scenery.
5:35 I'm thinking to myself "Huh, that looks kinda phallic" "Like a giant forest of cocks, no wonder uncle grumpy was in such a hurry to get out here" Burst out laughing!
you guys are killing me with your humor :-D I think I must admit that I am addicted to your chanel Gavin :-) I have almost stopped watching all the other photography chanels because of you!!! Can´t get enough :-)))) Great stuff, I love it . Keep up the excellent work and your chanel will explode at some point, I am pretty sure. Greetings from the crazy German ;-) Norbert
" I wonder why" lol that shit that me laugh my ass off in line at the store. Everyone looked at me like I was insane....you're spot on about arches / Utah. So much to shoot it can be overwhelming!
Can’t wait to see more video I’m going out next week to do Astro photography as well love y’all work tell Adam relax and have fun with Astro photography it’s a lot of fun
Gavin and Amanda, you guys are seriously hilarious. so funny, - that charisma from the both of you is simply unique, it makes my day, everyday. i swear I keep forgetting to pay attention to your photography tips and only focus on your skits - seriously you guys should have your own TV show. I follow other youtubers, but you guys are always my top to view.
Rattlesnakes are active at night. I was doing nightscapes in that area and was walking without a headlight. I realized that probably wasn't the best idea. When I turned on the light, I found I has a three foot rattler shadowing me as I walked. I think it was hoping I would starttele up a snack for it. We had a lovely midnight strol together.
Loved this vlog. We love the badlands and had no idea about the snakes. But the astro was really enjoyable Gavin. I thought when Adam said "Just one .... after another" was gonna be the punch line. I loved the experiment outcome. Looked just like a car manufacturers poster. I love light painting. It's amazing how it works and the results are gorgeous. Finding a great foreground is the key isn't it. Thank you Gavin really lovely vlog.
Awesome episode. Bit of British humour is a bonus...You should try the Pentax K1 for astro. Good on high iso and build-in astrotracer. Quite good at landscapes as well.....and cheap..
Another quality production full of musical mastery , hip hop humour , luscious locations and Grumpacious Farticus !! That MW shot was nice Pal !! Can’t believe after all the canvassing Fugi took your camera back !! Hello Canon :-)
Really really liked the Milky Way shot, buuuuuuuut, those first 2 shots had me saying Wow out loud. That is an amazing looking place. And yes i've become a bit of a fan boy. Seen your Instagram post and came running.
That was a nice experiment, and the photo came out very well Gavin. I’v kept the camera if i where you. Btw: i’v notest the wheel of Adams car is on the wrong site!
From a technical standpoint, the GFX at its sensor size and pixel pitch, are diffraction limited starting after f/4. That's because there's soo many pixels, its pixels are actually smaller than even most APSC cameras. Now the reason why that matters, is when you focus to infinite with a lens that wide, the near DOF limit is just a couple of meters, with the far field obviously being infinite. That means you gain zero benefit from focusing to infinity above f/4, unless you're trying to also get something in focus that's within ~6ft in front of the camera. So all dropping down to f/8 or f/11 does is create a less sharp image due to diffraction, with zero useful increase in DOF or sharpness, and a longer exposure time. If you focus on anything after ~2 meters, you're in infinite focus. So taking a picture of anything off in the distance in a landscape, does not see a useful DOF increase, because the DOF is ~2m to infinite. Basically, unless you're trying to control vignetting (which I can't see that being a problem with that lens), you really should never shoot above f/4, because it's pointless for sharpness/DOF, and actually reduces the sharpness of your images.
@@georgec9948 It definitely matters, and real photographers definitely care, especially when it comes to astrophotography. If gear isn't used properly, it will be used inefficiently and perform poorly. Imagine someone owns a $2,000 lens but it's soft because they're using f/8 and they have no clue why, so they just figure it's a bad lens. So they sell it, get another lens, and have the same issue. Or imagine spending time shooting at longer shutter speeds when it offers no useful benefit, and wasting your time taking all these long exposure shots when you could have exposed for shorter, with potentially less issues like tripod shake. It all matters. Real photographers do things like DOF and exposure calculations and know their camera/lens characteristics.
Wow, there are some great images in this video Gavin! The milky way shot was my favorite for sure! I see two opportunities for some revenue there, the truck manufacturer and maker of the camper will be knocking on your door any day now. But the best thing for me, was what we call the "wife beater" shirt you had on and "trucker tan" on the arms 🤣. Not sure it that resinates with anyone but me but I had a good chuckle at your expense anyway. Thanks for another great video and sorry Fuji made you give that camera back.
The nightsky edit at the end end is stunning awesome. 😍🥰🤩. And I am surprised, how less noise on high ISO the images have. Read often about it. May we have the RAFs for pixel peeping? Specially the 6400 and 12800. In RUclips it’s hard to really see what’s going on.
You always make me laugh out loud you great big barm cake. My missus always asks what I'm watching. I tell her it's filth 'cos I'm too embarrassed to admit I'm a fototripper fan boy. Loved it. Thanks for sharing.
If I had that sort of money I'm not sure I'd buy that Fuji Gavin but it certainly put up a good showing on astro. Have to say I can't understand Grumpton not appreciating Astro. The first time I watched an Alyn Wallace video it blew me away and seeing the Milky Way that first time was magical but it still never ceases to fill me with awe and inspire me. Makes me realise how 'small' we are. I only dabble in astro but really enjoy the challenge so appreciate what you make look easy is anything but.👍👍
Some nice shots of the hoodoos, but I like the astro image the best. Wondering what you think of the Canon 6D for astrophotography for a cheap hobbyists like myself?
Another reason you see star streaking is because you have a 100mpx sensor, which leaves such little room for error. In all reality the only way to get pinpoint stars with a camera/lens combo like that would be to run a 10 second exposure and do NR averaging across 10-15 exposures at ISO12800 or even higher
@@fototripper yeah, that’s why I stuck with the A7RIII instead of moving to the RIV. More mpx is great for landscapes but results in way more work for clean Astro images
Superb astro shot. I nearly split my sides with your expression "Like a giant forest of cocks". I think the grumpatous one needs stop eating those ground-hogs, they're giving him some intestinal distress.
I should do more astro photography. But it's at night.... :P That shot did turn out rather well. You were lucky to have Grumpton there to help you out. :D
That's not Grumpton.... it's Trumpton 🤣😂 think I have a bit of competition on my hands here, great video again Gavin & Adam, excellent entertainment and content, amazing images 👍
G'Day Gavin, I'm a little further south than you were when you recorded this. I'm in Australia ;) I have just switched over to Fujifilm with an xt-5 and I wanted to know what software you used to develop your fuji shots.
Milky Way Made Easy: www.fototripper.com/store/milky-way-made-easy/
I saw that alien! 🤣😂
I'll never forget what you said about my astrophotography Gavin. Don't think you're getting out of our duel
I'm sure you've improved a little bit since then but I don't mind giving you a worthy life goal ;)
No one else going to talk about the alien at 14:27 Infront of the camper van?
That image of the Milky Way came out MAGNIFIQUA
I must admit I am very impressed with the Fuji GFX lack of noise in even the highest of ISO's perhaps I'll do some night photography, one day?
Blasphemy!
Your final night composite is fantastic! I also wanted to say that as much as I enjoy all your and Amanda's goofiness, it was nice to see you include several clips of her being normal and/or contemplative, simply enjoying the scenery.
“This is basically how astrophotography works, you just prat about with your mates.” Literally me everytime I’m doing Astro.
@Marcus Halliday yeah ... link in the description 😁
It’s not as fun going alone for Astro lol
Hey, we need a small tour of your Van someday, how you assemble your stuff and food etc, what's left behind, what's kept?
Yup
Yeah that would be awesome
See the back catalog...
Great work Gavin. That truck nightscape is awesome mate. Fantastic location as well. Richard
14:26 Woah, wait, what did I just see next to that tree?!?
So much fun. Thank you! I really look forward to Sundays.
14:25 sneaky little alien dude pops in for that experimentation :D
Looks like aliens 👽 love to watch you and your vlogs as much as I do 😆😆
Fantastic work as always 👏
Loved it! Always looking forward to new episodes every week. Never stop Gavin !

Best photography content on YT. You pair are outstanding together. Very entertaining indeed. Always look forward to your videos.
Totally agree!
Love your content, Gavin. You, Amanda and Grumpton always put a smile on my face! Thanks for that!

interesting to see camera conspiracy guy running away at 14:26 XD

Fantastic video. Something about the pacing and editing here that really stood out. Great way to start my monday morning.
Only just discovered your channel. Love the humour! Oh, the photography content is pretty good too. Thanks.
the best photo vlogger on the internet
really praying this channel takes off, would love to see you guys going all over the world
Enjoyed the video! My favorite astro setup is a 750mm f/5, not quite "wide", have also taken astro shots using a 1200mm f/13.

Loved the light painting with the truck, who needs a pop flash when you have a torch!
I appreciate the example of using f4 for the MW shots. Cheers. Granted I'm not using the fancy Fuji, but I have faith my OMD will do just fine.
Writing on Stone is such a hidden gem. One of my favourte places on the parries

did any one else see the alien @ 14:27? 😂😂🤣🤣
Yes, was just coming to see if anyone else had seen it.

Bigfoot?
Yes. He looked familiar!
Happy New Year!

My 8 year old in the next room overheard uncle grumpy singing Abba tunes and now she is going around the house singing Abba tunes.

Loving the new fashion, trailer teeshirt. Is a northern look 👀
Great Astro image and another wonderful episode as well.
Great fun, great pictures.

Literally nobody cares what you have to say. And nobody cares about diffraction calculations. At least real photographers don't anyway. Go away

I knew you'd have to give the Fooj back; they sent the ninjas round, didn't they! They're not even scared of Grumpton by moonlight. ;-)

I gave you a like for using Celsius. I'm sure the rest of the video is great but that's enough for me.
Can confirm that is the universal sign for 'pull my chain"........ask my wife 😉🤣🤣

on a star

Plot twist: Adam was actually there filming for a pseudonym channel dedicated to milky way astro photography
Funny as always and informative.
I found astro frustrating for a while finally got it down part.
Loved the hoo doo shots
