I bought a whole bunch of these exact same rounds awhile back. Saving them for another time. I hear that they are very popular in Alaska for dangerous Bears.
@theshotgunscientists Magnum crush has better accuracy? I have to look them up. I just know we have stacks and stacks of the black magic and it is what the Alaska State Troopers use.
@@JohnDoe-zg6fn No I was saying these slugs in the video didn’t give us all that good accuracy. The magnum crush is just like the black magic but is 1.5 ounces moving even faster than the black magic. I think the magnum crush may be the most powerful slug on the market today.
My old MEC 600 junior reloader doesn’t like that really tall brass. It’s like when I resize it. It works fine but when I try to take the shell out of the resizing die, the punch won’t push it far enough down to completely clear. It’s very annoying.
@@crankygunreviews josh has the same problem with high brass on his herters press. I just take the spring and primer seating parts out of my load all and it gives enough clearance for really tall brass.
I've pulled what appears to be the same large flake pink powder out of an old Cheddite birdshot load. Still havn't managed to find exactly which powder it is
I was wondering why I never saw any American shell, loaded with spreader wads, those are very popular in Europe, specially with people who have fixed tight chokes, for hunting rabbit and woodcock, at short ranges. Just curious!
They look like the original brenneke classics. I thought brenneke had higher lead hardness? They are famous for high penetration for dangerous animals.
These are just original brenneke slugs yes and they’re just pure lead. They’re higher end slugs are hard though. Black magic, magnum crush, KO and such.

The black magics are gold up here
I’d go for the magnum crush
We didn’t have all that good accuracy out of them

Same. Thanks for the reminder. I need to throw those away.

@@theshotgunscientists i had to extend my deprimer rod, and helped but they still get stuck once in a while
You can back out the center punch in a mec to help kick them out
Where did you pick these up? I haven't been able to find any rio around me. Been trying to play with some of their non-tox loads. Great video bud!
Locally 3 years ago
I use to buy Rio 00 rounds 2 dollars a bof of 5 at rural king
@@gruntspy44 good old days man
They’re good slugs, despite the fact that their boxes are boring :-)
@@crankygunreviews we had decent not great accuracy with these
Do you know anything about the 12ga monarch hulls like who makes them and what load data to use?
Cheddite

I’ve never seen them either. But we can get the wads to load them ourselves and I know a lot of people that use them.
