It’s funny how almost every sport you only root for one team or one player, but in golf you find yourself rooting and hoping for good shots from all of them and love to see it when they make em.

What got me was how much more game Phil had then Brooks, and I think Brooks is one of the best big game players all time. But Phil on tough track in the wind just had more weapons and the imagination and guts to use them. I agree it was way underrated performance compared to the treatment Tiger got after his Masters win.

Me too. I've gotten readdicted to the game (playing and watching) after about 20 years. I can still remember seeing Phil on TV for the first time, in the late 80s; ABC showed a short clip of him during a telecast, the focus being up and coming junior golfers. He was prob 18yo at the time. I thought "Yeah, need more lefties (like me) on tour". What a ride it's been for him and it's not over yet. Congrats.

I am just in amazement at how far Phil can still hit the ball. He was piping 320 plus yard drives on several of the holes. With his short game, that still keeps him competitive with guys on the tour half his age. What I really enjoyed seeing was Phil’s course management. You didn’t see him going for the “hero shot” as he might have done 15 years ago. He also was willing to take his medicine and accept a bogey when that was really the best score he could have made on the hole after an errant drive. In past, he would have taken a risky shot at the green and turned a bogey into a double or triple. It was great seeing a crowd that could actually add to the excitement of the event. Would love to see Phil get into contention next month at Torrey Pines and perhaps take home that elusive U.S. Open Trophy.

Some of those (16 for example) were very wind assisted. But he's obviously very fit, and technique gets you a long way. (See also Lee Westwood earlier in the season coming 2nd to Bryson by a shot, then beating him by a shot the next week.)

Tom Brady in Super Bowl 55 (43 years, 188 days), Phil Mickelson here (50 years, 341 days, breaking a 53-year old record previously set by the late Julius Boros for oldest major winner), and now Helio Castroneves (46 years, 20 days) in the 2021 Indy 500. can i ask you how you got these by the YT copyright thing?

    • @djgamecx9489

they probably didn't, a lot of videos the copyright/trademark holder opts to simply take the profits made from the video rather than taking the video down

If you saw Koepka's pathetic comments after the final round, you'll understand why 20,000 people in the gallery were rooting for Phil and 3 people were rooting for Koepka.

Why would they be rooting against Koepka in the final round from comments he made from after the tournament ?!

For my Golfer Fans he is my favorite of all time not because of his crazy shots but his personality
But if your a fan of football you see a lot of Carson Wentz and if your a fan of crazy trick shots

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a worse telecast. Like at 6:52 where they don’t show the putt at all. Throughout the telecast, the trackman (which we’ve grown accustomed to) is either working or not working I guess based on the producer’s whim. About as bad as Fox’s production of the US Open at Chambers Bay.

First time I saw him was at troon. Just walks up to the tee, so what have we got here he says to his caddie. His swing was as smooth as silk, lefties always look good. Hitched his trousers and easy swing. No chopping down trees for phil.

Mickelson could probably win a major at 60. He'll likely still compete for the majors and U.S. Open to near 60.
