That '66 they had, came with a built 327 4V.Jumping bridges, leaving the cops, crazy brake lock ups erc That Impala did more for them than the '69 Charger R/T.
I like the shape of the 66 Impala. When I was a kid, My parents owned a 65 Caprice that was white with blue interior.. The 65 and 66 looked very similar. I remember it had the 327 motor which was very peppy. That car was very comfortable and we went to many drive in movies in it. That car was sweet.
Whoa Nelley, that's a big hit, and that's it. Heavy, heavy damage there. I believe back in 1982 the state agency in TX that did vehicle inspections was the Department of Public Safety. We got the VIN, we win: 1 for Chevrolet, 64 for Impala V8, 39 for four door hardtop, 6 for 1966 model year, T for Tarrytown, NY assembly (which is in Westchester County, about maybe a 2 hour drive from NYC), and the rest is the production sequence. The Tarrytown plant would close in 1996 and production of the minivans moved to Doraville, GA at that time. The Tarrytown plant produced the "Hoover Dustbuster" vans. Looks like some old Texaco service station stickers on the driver's door, so it appeared to have been given reasonable care up until 1982 when it was in the accident. Looks like someone ran a stop sign or a traffic light and clouded the Impala. We got the tag, we can brag: 03C for the third week of March 1966 production, 66 for 1966 model year, 16439 for Chevrolet Impala V8 four door hardtop, TAR for Tarrytown, NY assembly, 811 for black interior trim, A might be the seat type which appears to be a bench seat, and Y-Y for Lemonwood Yellow upper and lower exterior paint. Whoa Nelley, hit in '82, it's over for you. Hit during the tenure of Ron, this one is gone. Got hit, time to quit. 1966 and hit the bricks. Four door and doesn't go any more. Lemon yellow now it's a rusty old fellow. V8 not so great. Going to be flat, and that's that. Going to get squished, get those parts soon or you're going to be pissed.
I think what you meant to say was when Tarrytown closed production of the dustbuster vans ended. Doraville started building the Venture and others for the 97 model year.
I remember everyone used to buy the ones with the 327 4 barrel for 100 to 200 dollars back in the early 80's for the engines. This one looks like the 283 version .
Looks like there's a lot of salvageable dash parts in there, including the Westclox mechanical electric clock, the steering wheel and the silver trim. Those seat frames and springs are also valuable.
I love them cars. No computers. You the driver control the car. You can work on them yourself. The engine is not shoved under the windshield. My favorite year is the 65 Impala 4-door hardtop. My parents bought one when they came out. A 1965 Impala 4-door hardtop. With a 327 V8. It had the power glide. I always remember that whirling sound that came from the trans when in park. They also had air and the factory wire wheel covers. The spikes on the wheel cover kept them on good. They were not light. In 1985 I bought one from this lady locally. It was a 65 Impala. It was a regular 4-door sedan. It had a straight 6 cylinder engine no air. Power glide. It only had 73,000 miles. It was all original. I was the third owner. It had the original black paint. She got a newer car and no longer needed it. It sat in her yard. I was driving around one day and seen it and stopped and asked her if she wanted to sell it. She said yes and said she would take two hundred for it. And a week later I showed up with the money and drove it home. Memories. I never had a four door hardtop. Im hoping to before I leave this earth. Im not holding my breath. They are so expensive. Cars have gone way. As far as later cars I like what I have now. It was gifted to me when my friend past away. It is very nice car and reliable. It is a 1990 Oldsmobile 88 Royale four door. It only had 34,000 miles on it when he bought it. Now it has 73,000. It has the 3.8 liter V6 Engine. It is a dark maroon. I love the car. Thanks for sharing this video. Brings back some memories. Thumb up...
So sad that she survived 55 (!) years what is clearly a miracle but eventually ends up in a junkyard. You may think if something is so antique, it will be cherished and taken care of. But the reality is... :(
Going to a pick and pull yard was actually the best thing that could have happened to this car, it's a 4 door so that alone makes it very undesired and not worth much and on top of that it has severe frame and structural issues from the crash. And obviously this car had been sitting in someones yard for decades just rotting away turning into dust. So atleast the car is in the yard now where people can salvage what little good that's left and use those parts to keep other ones like it on the road. Its unfortunate that these cars are still being junked but this car was a mess and is not special enough to justify the amount of time, money , and effort required to bring it back to road worthy condition.
It’s crazy because for some reason 66-72 impalas are everywhere you’d think they would be around more and be common but I guess most people who own em don’t want em 🤷♂️
Man I had a blue four door I bought off a old man for 600 drove it home tagged it first Cruze night I took it to some guy offers me 2500 for it sold lol

These cars bring back memories of a bygone era and high school 😊

@@stepheng3667 I typed it too quickly, so I reworded it. The Venture was a junker too. LOL.

True. All the old V8s like that were plentiful indeed.
Yes i am p+++++d. The 66 is a masterpiece of styling and engineering and if someone cared enough that beauty could have been saved!
Hello Hello thanks for taking us along never can tell what you could find
Looks like there's a lot of salvageable dash parts in there, including the Westclox mechanical electric clock, the steering wheel and the silver trim. Those seat frames and springs are also valuable.

Taillights , trunk lid and bumper gotta be worth some coin
Still pretty cool!!!!!
That lower trunk lid trim is very hard to find along with rear corner ends and sides, worth your effort to pull it and resale those moldings.....
thanks for the video. That one is nasty. But again it brings back memories.
May that ole girl RIP love those old people impalas

4 door ht side glass is kinda hard to find if you want original stuff.
Not bad but not good.
Love that rear end !
I liked the 1965 Impala better. It had the round tail lights.
That rear end made the 66 the most modern of all Impalas, more modern even than present day front drive bubble Impalas.
No No what a shame this car should not be in the junk yard. 😔
Alright alright!!
Lookin for a good swamp cooler for my 61
It’s crazy because for some reason 66-72 impalas are everywhere you’d think they would be around more and be common but I guess most people who own em don’t want em 🤷♂️
