Windows 7 never felt like it was old. It was way ahead of its time both under the hood and visually.
If Microsoft released it today it would be flying of the shelves.
Windows 7 has provided me with some of the best moments of my life and for that it will always have a special place in my heart.
So long old friend, Rest in Peace~
It has aged like a fine wine! 🍷🧐
@@WindowsOnWindows Couldn't have said it any better myself
3:22 this quote nearly killed me “Windows 7 Kills Snow Leopard” Just thinking about all the time that’s past.
Snow leopard was just like “OK that came out a long time ago” but Windows 7 feels like it came out just like a year ago, it still looks modern, clean, and in most people’s opinions, more stylish than Windows 10. Must be just nostalgia I used that operating system for a big chunk of my life, from 2009 to 2014, my most nostalgic years.
I wasn’t so affected by the XP EOL but this 7 one is just showing me how much time flies, this date has been looming over us since Windows 10 was released, and now it’s tomorrow it’s just weird to think about
That's probably because Apple releases a version of OS X every year, while a version of Windows is released every 3 years or so.
@@-atimes3- MS updating strategy from release Windows 8 in 2012 and now Microsoft releases a new version of Windows 10 every year. This looks so kinda from Apple. But Microsoft in 2009 not upgrading our PC forced
As someone who was slightly affected by the XP EOL, I remember just counting down the days till it ended. Then the POSReady trick came to light, and I thought '2019? Wow, that's a really, REALLY long time from now!'. Then it hit 2019, and sure enough that support ended also.
WAKE UP THIS WORLD IS A LIE. TAKE UP YOUR BIBLE MOW REPENT AND FIND SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.
im still using windows 7 even to this day even after the support ends ill still use it.
You need to be absolutely careful! For real!
@IBims1Mark Wrong. Hackers and malware will focus on the most used one (Windows 10), but people don't understand nothing.
Windows 10 can't do anything what i really wanted to use. Windows 7 can. and bloatwares are still on Windows 10 forces you to have them and spies on you.
and game modding is better on Windows 7 and Windows 10 says no.

Thank you Windows 7 you will be missed 😭
UPDATE: Extended support for Windows Embedded POSReady 7 (an OS based on Windows 7 and designed for use in industry/commerce), ends on 12th October 2021. I did not include this in the video as it is regarded by Microsoft as a version of the Windows Embedded OS, rather than a version of Windows 7.
Also, POSReady 7 has ESU support until 2024 too.
@sv1jbf How do you activate it?
i have the same problem too.
Windows Loader was made for Vista and 7, and it's not made for embedded Windows OS.
@sv1jbf did you mean microsoft toolkit?
i think it's gonna be easy to activate just like KMSPico or etc...
As much as Windows and I don't exactly get along, I do have a certain fondness for Windows 7, especially now it's matured I guess in much the same manner XP did. Other than on its initial release in 2009, it's never really given me any trouble, even from a sysadmin standpoint. It's a release of Windows that's just *worked* and has an interface I'm both very familiar with and find really pleasing to look at.
I was running it on my main system until last night, when I took the plunge to move to Windows 10 for the time being (which I must say I kinda hate, even from a syadmin standpoint as so much "user-friendly" stuff just gets in my way). So long Windows 7 you sweet prince.
You could do like me and have a dual boot setup, one with 7 and one with 10. I am sticking with 7 for pretty much everything, and if I need to ill boot into 10 on another drive (or on my laptop). I have 2 m.2 nvme drives that were in raid, but now I am using 1 for 7 and one for 10.
It feels like loosing one of your most reliable close friends
Goodbye my old friend 😔
Goodbye Windows 7! I stuck by you til your final moments, my old friend. R.I.P.
Windows 7 is my favourite OS since that was released. So really sad
Windows 7 R.I.P. 2009-2020 :(
So then really people don't understand anything? It's dam'n NOT dead, all of this is a massive Microsoft's propaganda for scaring people from Windows 7 to Win 10. People are echoing and repeating as parrots, but without understanding anything.
We fight with that!!! Windows XP and Windows 7 never die!!! We will write a petition to Microsoft! They must listen to us!
I remember when I got my first Windows 7 PC, a Toshiba Satellite laptop, back in the early 2010's. I was so excited to have my own computer for the first time in ages. Before, I had to use an old shared Windows XP machine and a heavily locked down Apple MacBook that my middle school gave to students as part of a state program. Booting that laptop up for the first time was incredible, going through the OOBE, getting to name it whatever I wanted, and then getting to a desktop that was mine to use and customize how I saw fit.
That laptop didn't last very long unfortunately because, well, it was a cheap laptop. A few cheap notebooks and bad luck later and I ended up with a newer Toshiba that took me through high school. I retired it by giving it to a family member before I went off to college in late 2014 with a newly-purchased HP Envy x360 machine running 8.1. Now I have a high-end custom PC that runs Windows 10 and, well, I like to boot up my Windows 7 VM every now and then for nostalgia's sake. I loved Windows 7, it was (and still somewhat is) my favorite Windows OS.
Thanks for the memories. I know some of your better parts live on in Windows 10.

I'm thinking of installing MX Linux so that I can dual-boot both it and Windows 7. MX Linux looks really good, is pretty easy for a Windows user to use, and doesn't remind me of Windows 10. I've said it before, I'll say it again here, "When Windows 10 is 1% as good as Windows 7, I'll take it more seriously." Windows 10 hasn't reached that level yet. Will it ever? Maybe. But I'm not betting on it.
I'll miss my old childhood friend... RIP Windows 7 you'll always bring the old gold memories, when playing PC Games... Time passes so fast, they're growing so fast...

Why isn't there a petition to revive windows 7?
It looks so much better than 8.1 and 10,and it's way more reliable - it just works (not like W10 that never works over 90%). One thing I really miss is its compatibility with old games (like Diablo 2). I wanted to play it on W10 (my rig defies all knkwn laws of thermodynamics, physics and maybe even the laws of the country I live in). I couldn't. On W7 it worked fine.
I'll miss it so much... Thanks for all the hard times you got me through, dear friend.
I had Windows 10 x64 since 2015, and since, it accumulated 4 files with Windows.old(), and ran slower and slower after each update. I had an i3 4360 3.7GHz, 16GB of RAM, and I upgraded ti i7 4770, but still there was a lot of stuttering, and glitches while doing everything, while I only had the browsers and two games installed. Finally, in 2019 it suddenly crashed and refused to start, circling those bubbles as charging for infinity. After many restarts, I was prompted to reinstall it from scratch. I made a clean reinstall, and surprisingly it ran very well. No glitches, no stuttering while just moving the mouse around on the desktop. But the downside is that in 2015 I also installed Windows 7 on my father's computer. It still runs perfectly today, no issues at all. Me with Windows 10 had a lot of them, including the fact that after each major Windows Update, it suddenly lost my static IP address, and also the folders I shared on the LAN weren't shared anymore. So, it goes to the point where some updates are not so good maybe. Still, I hope Windows 10 will become stable, and won't go bad after the updates.
*Sadness intensifies*
Windows 7 official support may be over, but you're right, the story is far from over, as there is still a community that cherishes this beloved operating system, even as updates are no longer available, which might well as have been the same story when XP went out-of-support. I've been using Windows 7 from 2011/2012 up to 2018, on three different laptops, and it has provided me with a lot of nostalgia and overall cherished memories of mine. It just feels strange now that we've come to this date so quickly. Even now as I'm using a Windows 10 computer, I have a Windows 7 theme installed on it because I still love how it looks visually and, to be fair, Aero is the bomb. XD
By the way, your videos are very awesome, bud. I can't wait for you to continue the 98 development series. Please keep up the amazing work, friend. :)
I grew up on Windows 7 and stayed on it for way longer than I would expect. My main PC now is a Windows 10 laptop, but I have a 7 VM for nostalgia's sake.
Thanks for 2009-2020, I hope that in 2020 Windows 7 will be reborn with more modern and sophisticated features and designs. I am a Windows 7 user since 2011. Miss you Windows 7 ... Bubye ... we are very very thanks for your technology.

And with that, I finally got motivated enough to learn how to Linux. Thanks for everything, Win7.
It has been a long time!
Windows 7 became the best OS from Microsoft, even when the idea was to substitute Vista for its issues. But it had to be done. Technology become obsolete after years.
MS released their final "free" win7 quality rollup and security update yesterday evening (1/14). Those who are sticking with 7 like me might want to get it.
Thank you windows 7 :'(
How long does support last for the Windows 7 Embedded edition?
Extended support ends on 12th October 2021, though Microsoft regards Windows Embedded as an OS in its own right, so not technically a version of Windows 7.
I Feel sorry for Windows 7

@Milos Djeric and let's not forget the october 2018 update issue.
THIS IS A SAD DAY. I BOUGHT MY LAPTOP WITH WIN 7 INSTALLED. THEN, I INSTALLED WIN 7 SP 1. ALL THIS YEARS, THERE'S NO BETTER OS FROM MICROSOFT, INCLUDING WIN XP.
I CAN SAY I CARRIED MY WIN 7 EVERY WHERE AND EVERY TIME.
WIN 10 IS GOOD, BUT NOT HAS THE TALL FROM WINDOWS 7.
LIKE WIN XP, I MISS YOU, WIN 7 HOME PREMIUM.
THANKS A LOT FOR ALL FUN AND HELP RECEIVED FROM YOU.
Windows 10 is pretty much Windows 7 to me at this point... But far from it in terms of how kind it is to its user.
The minimalist Ui that hides more and more elements behind menus or behind shitty revamped settings, the incessant, aggressive updates, the fact that it uses the disk so much you basically need an ssd just to be able to use it without tearing your hair out... 10 started like 7, but with how bloated and confusing it's started to get, it starts reminding me more of vista.
Vista with Aero cool but first release was really bad. And who upgrading PC with Pentium 4 with 512 kb memory in 2007 that was really painfully (Vista was released) Vista was buggy and crashed so well (BSOD). But Vista with SP2 was really good but support ended in 2017.
@@ThatRandomToast but many have a HDD and 4GB ram. I have a laptop with this characteristic.
So long and thanks for the Chess Titans!
I knew the man (we all called him Tam) who had the responsibility of giving the order to release Windows Vista home. The last time I saw him, before he retired from Microsoft and a few years later died from complications of diabetes, I was setting up webcasting for a meeting (nothing to do with Microsoft, was for a volunteer organization he and I were involved with) he walked in the room... looked at me and said "I don't want to talk about Vista." He new Vista was not ready, but he had been forced to make the announcement because the release was so far behind schedule.
Thanks for the interesting info, Frank!

Windows 7 Ultimate is the best OS ever! I'm staying on it even though it's unsupported now by Microsoft and I won't be upgrading to Windows 10 anytime soon.
I can't wait til you continue the history of windows 98 development and afterwards, you could do the history of windows 7 development.

Changed to the Apple iMac 21.5" all in one and love it .................
Windows 7 is the most stable OS ever released by microsoft. I prefer it more compared to the very unstable, bug filled windows 10 which often stabs you in the back with updates that you manually have to turn off since you never know when an automatic update is going to screw your PC. I accidentally forgot to turn our new wifi to metered on my PC setting and boy, my PC went into chaos. Windows 10 downloaded updates after updates and eventually it started messing with my games.
I Love to use Windows 7 in Office, but from some days they are not giving only windows 10 option is there or Linux Option is there

Thank you for using my music, good video!
Thank you too! :D
Let's hope Windows 10X delivers a consistent experience like Windows 7
Thanks for everything, Windows Vienna. Go and join your long-lost sister, Vista.
I never once had any problem with Vista from the start, but I had an Athlon64 x2 4200, 4gb ram, 8800gt at the time and all of my printers and other devices were new. As far as Win7 goes, I am typing this on Win7 and don't plan on upgrading to 10 until nothing works anymore which wont be for years. If I need to goto sketchy websites or something I will use my win10 laptop, or boot into win10 on my 2nd nvme drive.
I've missed Windows 7 since my old laptop that I bought back in 2010 had died in 2016. Since then I've been on Windows 10 and I configure it as much as I can to look like Windows 7. It was the best version of Windows that Microsoft had ever released. Where I work I was on Windows 7 until last year but it was in a VDI (VMware's Horizon) and due to that it ran like CRAP! Those that are still on the VDI have Windows 7 however we are in the works of getting new bare metal PCs with Windows 10.
One minor correction though. In the video you said that Windows 7 was the first time that Microsoft had used a codename for its final release name. It was actually Millennium Edition (it just got cold in the room).
The codename for ME was Millennium (as opposed to Millennium EDITION), so I didn't count this, Tim!
I love it.
I had a windows 7 laptop way back in 2012. it was so amazing and I loved all the cool little detail in windows. Then I got a windows 8 pc in 2013 then upgraded it to windows 10. Both windows 8 and 10 were disappointing mainly because of the removal of the cool sounds like the start up sound. I got way too tired of windows 10 and switched to macOS because windows 10 so glitchy and has lots of bugs that are annoying. Windows 10 two main updates a year always feels rushed and unpolished. Almost the whole os feels rushed and/or unfinished still after like 4 years.

Thanks to Adobe, I'm going to have to update my PC to Windows 10 very soon. I would've gone to Windows 8.1, but the latest CC apps aren't available and you can't download older versions.
Windows 10 is, and has always been, a complete mess of an operating system. I HATE using it. I HATE that ridiculous OneDrive integration, I HATE cortana, I hate the fact I have to disable about a million 'features', the UI is still all over the place, you essentially have to re-install it every 6 months. AWFUL!!!
I installed this copy of Windows 7 back in mid 2018, and I haven't had any issues. I installed Windows 10 (from 7) on my laptop 2 weeks ago and I am still encountering bugs, issues and the pathetic 'settings' app.
