Two things I’ll add when I was using Windows XP after the end of support and that is separated admin (with password protection) and regular user and install Comodo Firewall.
    1. Separating the user and admin will make it harder on virus to make any changes as long you don’t run as admin
    2. Install Comodo Firewall will alert you what a program is trying to do, yes it might be annoyance but you’ll have control if you do see something your not familiar with or something you didn’t even know having

A few tips from me: disable Bluetooth in the Bios, enable a firewall, that's always recommended, don't connect to the internet unless you need it at that very moment and always keep your antivirus up to date. There are a few problems with this video because yes, a browser does have a database of viruses but with one extra character in the code that doesn't work any more and a Antivirus is just a database and a behaviour filter for programs and Windows Update doesn't scan for viruses at all, it fixes loopholes in Windows, for example remote code execution, an antivirus doesn't really detect that and that's because you need to disable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when you don't need it.
And finally, please, please upgrade your OS as soon as possible. If you don't want Windows 10 use Linux or anything as long as it does gets security updates.

One thing i like is how light the RAM usage is. I've disabled unneeded services etc and so far it's using only 1.3GB with Avast & Nvidia services running when idle.
Except I'm having a problem putting my machine to sleep, it immediately wakes up. Check the power settings, bios etc. Could be Gigabyte mobo issue though or probably my mouse which is causing the problem :)

I have a PC gaming from 2012 that came with Windows 7 installed by default. A few months ago I tried to install Windows 10 on the computer. Everything went well, I removed all the bloatware it contained to make it fast and light. Weeks went by and the games I used to play fluently in Windows 7 were not in Windows 10. So I went back to Windows 7 and decided to stay until things became dangerous in computing. Also Windows 7 has a friendly UI and it is similar to Vista; on the other hand Windows 10 has a flat and boring user interface, it is like having the appearance on high contrast.

After following all of the steps of the video above, you can also try the next steps:
User account with limited privileges (not administrative user). Changing system configurations are limited with a regular user account. It limits the actions of a virus in case of an infection.
Firewall in white-list mode. You have to give permission to every application manually while blocking by default all internet traffic. This way only the applications you have given explicit permission will be able to access the internet.
User Account Control settings set to Always Notify. If an application which requires administrative privileges is executed (even in background) it will prompt you to confirm or deny the permission. If your administrative user account have a strong password is better because when it happen you can only confirm the permission after typing it.
Recently were found vulnerabilities related to remote access even in the most recent version of Windows. Since it is a feature which most user will not miss, you can disable it. You can disable the firewall entries and the services corresponding to the word Remote.

I was shocked to see Windows 7 running so fine on a 512mb system like damn! Performance is a must for me tbh, not because I'm only using an old system, i just don't like unimportant softwares running on background that i don't need, i only need those programs to open when i NEED them. In windows 10, they even remove the ability to stop dwm.exe. Even Windows Explorer is already lagging lol. Windows 10 in 4gb is shittier than Windows 7 on 512mb
What's more shit about it is how Windows 7 is more stylized compared to Windows 10 which are just flat and sharp corners. This is like comparing an Electron-based note app to notepad!
I've also read about UWPs having bad performance and they say Startmenu is one, which is part of explorer.exe

It is real simple to use Windows 7, or any windows system, unplug the internet cord from the computer. You still can do a lot of junk, I have my word processors, games, data bases, spreadsheets etc. on my computer, (u kno the stuff a computer was really made for besides blasting off on facebook or you tube). Used an Amiga 4000 for many years and never had the internet on it. If I wanted to download something, I used a Linux OS, downloaded what I needed the got the heck off. I also use my computer for music, making videos, watching downloaded shows off my exuby. Why do I need the internet to tell someone they are a well you know the word. I have 2 computers hooked to the internet, Windows 10 (which will soon go away) and Linux pop-os for steam and games, and Linux Mint, all those arch heads are just that.

Hah, I broke my windows 7 by updating it (I've never updated it so when I wanted to update it I saw 162 updates pending, and as always, I clicked update all. And it took 6 hours. The next morning, I turned it on and it said: "Failed update. Retrieving changes 0%." And from there, it can't go any higher than 0.
Btw I was about to get a laptop anyway.

Running Win7 on Aorus Gaming 7 OP as a 2nd OS, it is actually a requirement for a program I use that makes plush toy models and sewing patterns. It will not run on Win10 and HASP security refuses to let it run on a VM running Win7. HASP is that grumpy protection program that puts an encrypted key on your hard drive that makes trialware non-refreshable even when you format and reinstall Windows. You have to zero out the drive to get rid of that key, but with deep freeze, that is no longer an issue :P I know, I'm terrible.. this toy software is about $4000, so, whatever it takes, right? All in all, Gigabyte is real team player providing Win7 solutions even after the OS has reached it's end of life. I've tested various ransomware against Deep Freeze, none of which were able to penetrate the system. In fact, when it tries to encrypt all the files, it forces a reboot because the session runs out of memory (it would be like doubling the size of the hard drive in the RAM, causing a crash).. on reboot, everything's back to normal and not race of any malware.

I have no browser on windows 7 at all. Block everything thru your firewall unless you explicitly allow it. I use Bluestacks more because I love Android and the thousands of free Apps. If you catch a virus in your virtual machine, you delete it and make another virtual machine. This is as safe as you can get with any Windows version in 2020. I run my Win10 machine like this too.

My opinion on Windows 7 is that its an outdated piece of software, I don't hate it, its just old and we have windows 8.1, 10, and the newly released windows 11, it sorta resembles windows 7 with its areo-ish look along with rounded corners, after about a year of windows 11 being out you could make it look and behave like Windows 7. Just please, there's no truly full proof way to use an old OS, and anything 8.1 and above will at least have support too last another few years.

I thought when you released a new model of a product, it was supposed to be..... better? Switching back to Windows 7 in my home. Thanks for the video.
