    HI, I couldn't find my manual and have this model Coleman. Having owned it a few years I've only just retrieved it from storage, but never yet used it. Thanks for your quality video presentation. I really appreciate your calm, unhurried "user" explanation which was most helpful. J

    Im going to make one from an ammo box . Never seen one before , great idea . Hang that in a semi sleeper siphon off 2 , 5 gallon buckets , shower in a 5-10 gallon tote , buckets empty out then drain your shower pan back into em , let em leach off going down the road ( its just grey water , no worse than air conditioner condencer run off .) Beats athletes foot from pay showers . If you dont want to run it as you shower , hang an empty bucket high in the sleeper ( stable enough to hold the weight ) fill that bucket with one on the floor ... Gravity shower one gallon per minute=10 minute shower OTR.

    Have you seen the "One Hour Shower" system? I like your setup and I believe using a filter to recirculate the shower water (1/2 gallon is all the water you need to take a continuous shower) and using the filter keeps the water clean as it circulates through the sump pump. Look up the One Hour Shower and see how you can easily improve your showering needs. Great job on the presentation and your solution.

    There are many many other solutions to use for taking showers or washing dishes. On the other hand, if you want to just buy a solution and are willing to pay more than $200 for a new one, this looks great. And extremely usable . I use a propane stove currently to heat up my water and put it in a 5 gallon paint can , use an imation shower gizmo (~$30) ... but there is a lot to be said for just buying a solution and using it. YMMV. Thanks for the review.

    Thank you for the walkthrough on this, nicely done.
    I see how quickly the water reached a hot temperature, though I am curious what temp the water was to begin with.
    Was it straight cold water from the tap, and was it really cold?
    I have read a lot of reviews by people talking about recirculating water with these types of devices in order to get it hot enough, especially when starting with colder water and I am wondering how this Coleman performs in that regard.
    I am considering it as a gift for someone who has a cabin with a chilly creek beside it which would be used as the water supply.
    Thank you again!

      Brent Marini, I started with room temp tap water. I just turned on the faucet and cycled it through the heater and it was very hot very quick, too hot on the highest temp setting.

    Those fancy electronics seems like they might be the downfall, especially if temps go way down. I had a shower pump fail from cold. The lithium battery might be another weakness, though the more enterprising among us might be able to replace that when it takes a turn for the worse. The Zodi system seems like it may last longer, even though it takes a bit to heat up.

    i see the water hose to drop into the water source looks long enough to drop into my 30 gallon water barrel if i set the unit on my trailer wheel well and drop the water inlet hose into the 30 gallon barrel ? and i think the bath hose looks long enough to Bathe a horse ? can you tell me the length of the bath/shower hose it comes with ? ( to reach the back of the horse and all around i think i need a 10' outlet hose, those 2 things added onto your video would be a great help . thanks

    That is interesting.
    The cheap solar shower bags that we have were on sale at 2 for $9.95 in our local Anaconda, so I bought 10.
    I have seen them on sale as low as $4.00 each in Anaconda.
    We can solar heat up to 200L for the ensuite 12v shower system powered from our solar charged 1987 Cub Camp-O-Matic Offroad 380 camper trailer.
    If the water is not warm enough for a shower, it can be heated a bit more in a big stainless steel pot over a fire.
    Any empty bags are filled with the same 12v shower pump from a creek in the morning.
    I had a thought of joining 3 bags together with hose T pieces connected to just 1 nozzle for increased capacity and pressure without using any 12v power.
    We don't have any LPG system in our camper trailer, but we do have a few cheap gas canister camp stoves if not able to make an open fire.
    Regards, Jas.

      The range in my kitchen has 4 propane burners to cook with.
      I live in a trailer & have vents right above it.
      For an rv, I'd likely modify the plumbing, or use 1/2 fittings to join additional shower hoses together to keep it out of the steamy bathroom.
      The starting temperature of the water determines how hot it will be. It's pretty small and can only do so much on max.
      The pump enables you to spray the heated water back into a container your pumping from to make it hot enough.
      In that case, I'd really recommend the adapter hose and a larger propane tank.

  • @pipbaxter5286
    @pipbaxter5286 6 лет назад

    ok. 1)can you plug it into 12v and 150 if the lithium battery is flat? 2) Can you temporarily stop the the flow will you soap up and then open up the flow? or must you turn it off completely and then restart it to finishing showering? 3)Can you also connect it to your Propane bottle if you have run out of cannisters? 4)Can you adjust the water flow? 5)does it have a sink filling spout as well? Thanks

    • @spikemd1364
      @spikemd1364  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, it can be directly connected to a 12v source if the battery is dead. Unfortunately, you need to turn off the heater if you want to turn off the water. This is because it uses the water to cool off the heating elements otherwise it would melt itself just like any on demand water heater. A bit inconvenient. I was looking at making a bypass valve that would divert water back to the bucket and keep it running. Cant change the water flow again due to safety reasons.

      It doesn't run for long periods like a room heater would. I am sure it produces CO but not in the quantities that a heater would since the heater might run for hours. CO2 buildup shouldn't be an issue.

    So lets say I'm using this for dishes... If I want to stop the flow temporarily, I have to switch off the unit. Then when I want water back, I have to relight it and such? Or can you just turn the power switch back on and have the flow resume?
    Seems like a major flaw in the unit that you have to waste waiter letting it run while the unit lights.

    • @tthomas9160
      @tthomas9160 7 лет назад +3

    • @spikemd1364
      @spikemd1364  7 лет назад +1

      I agree it is a flaw but the unit can't be on without water flowing through it otherwise it would burn itself up. I am looking into adding a 3 way valve to divert the water back into the source rather than relying on the shower head.

      I would think the safety shutoff is to prevent the water from flashing to steam. When water flashes to steam it is incredibly explosive. 1 cubic foot of water turns to 1728 cubic feet of steam. Not alot of people realize the power behind steam

    Have you had any problems with the pumps cracking? I've got the h2oasis elite and I'm waiting for my 4th pump to be delivered and the unit is only a week old. If you connect the pump to the bag that's supplied you'll notice water leaking(gushing) from the face plate. If you immerse the pump like you have in your video you won't notice it but the cracks allow water to enter the motor side of the pump and eventually it will fail. At $50 a throw it's an expensive unit if the pumps don't last more than a few days. Cheers

    Thanks for the review. I've been looking at buying one of these but I was a bit concerned with the ongoing propane costs? Roughly how long would one propane canister last if it was primarily used for showering at a moderate temperature? Would I get say ten 5 minute showers from one? more or less? Thanks.

    • @spikemd1364
      @spikemd1364  7 лет назад +1

      dsr20631, I haven't used it enough to determine how much propane it uses. It would also depend on how hot you heat the water. I would think 10, 5 minute showers would be reasonable, but I can't say for sure. As long as you can recharge the battery after about 45 minute of pumping water. I hope to figure out propane usage this summer when camping season rolls around. I use propane for my grill and stove, so always have a few extras in supply.

      reconteamohio, a fully charged battery pumps about a gallon a minute and runs for about an hour. Manual says runs 80 min. The pump will run indefinitely if u connect to a 12v source like a car or my Goal Zero Yeti 400 and solar or have the car running.
