    I bought an Ecotemp RV, style, instant hot water tank. Uses 2 D cell batteries and propane. 1 gallon propane tank lasts almost 2 months .

    One of the Amazon reviews said that the water flow can’t be stopped while the unit is on?
    One important part of a camp shower, or any shower where water supply is limited, is the ability to turn off the water while soaping up.

    • @MagicPrepper
      @MagicPrepper  10 месяцев назад

      It is a downfall and for conservation purposes I appreciate that type of shower. But, that downfall is also why it's so simplistic so it's a trade off.

  • @DumpsterElite
    @DumpsterElite 10 месяцев назад +1

    Glad you reviewed this, as it's most definitely something I've been wanting to check out for some time now. Not a fan of the fact that the water has to be running before you turn the heat on. There are other less expensive hot shower options, but they also have limitations. A hot shower would be a MUST in extended SHTF situations, and is something that many don't think about.

    • @MagicPrepper

      The morale boost alone would be huge.

  • @jimmyslim1628
    @jimmyslim1628 10 месяцев назад +3

    I would say definitely worth having. It seems simple so even if something failed I can't see it being more than the battery or pump, anything else can be worked around. I can't see in SHTF anyone doing warranty work, maybe its just me. An alternative battery 'could' in theory be hooked up and all it would need is 'a pump' small pumps can be stockpiled.

    I ran a similar unit on my boat years ago. If you turn the heat on and run the water back into the reservoir jug it'll pre-heat the water. Less waste.

    ECOtemp or Camplux is 1.3 gpm unlimited time as long as you have water. and can be hooked to pressurized or gravity fed water supply with a garden hose for only 159.00 . You can just hang it on your fence. It also hooks to BBQ Grill tank. I used a similar one for 7 years daily staying mounted outside on the fence the whole time before I replaced it.
    Coleman is 5 gal. water then it's done til refilling it. Small propane tank but can be adapted for larger tank for extra. Coleman 400.00+. The Coleman is cute but a bit to gimmicky for me.

    I took a metal Jerry can, reinforced the bottom a bit to take heat. Attached a hose with a nozzle to the lid. Put up and start a fire under it. No electric/fuel needed.
    That thing looks nice (and expensive), but has too many doodads. K.I.S.S.

    • @MagicPrepper
      @MagicPrepper  10 месяцев назад +1

      Good concept. Plus I am sure you can just bust out a propane stove if you don't want to build a fire for opsec reasons.

      @@MagicPrepper I'd make a Dakota fire over using propane, but yes. I usually heat on the ground and then hang for the shower (using leather gloves of course).

    Definitely cool but not for 400.00 a 12v sure flow pump some copper tubing a 10 gallon tank and shower wand could all be had for around 150.00 then you could use any heat source you want beit open flame rocket stove or even a gas or charcoal grill.

    • @MagicPrepper

      For sure. The cost is usually for the convenience, portability and less mechanically inclined consumer. But if you can make a DIY work then that's awesome.

    The debate within my head right now is intense! Is it over rather I should pull the trigger & buy the Coleman HWOD shower?!! No it’s over if I want to be the one that takes this squad, this unit, this team, this band of brothers in prepping from unit 420 to 421! If it was seal team 69 would I dare like it & take it to ST70?!! WthDID, trip the algorithm with another like 👍 hoping to gain more prepping support?!! No I dare not, I’ll let some other unlucky soul make that damning decision. Sorry MP I just can’t have that responsibility upon my shoulders

    To heavy and too fragile for shtf use. How ya gonna clean the water so it doesnt clog the heater of you use creek or pond water? What if you forget to empty the water it freezes and bust the bladder?

    • @MagicPrepper
      @MagicPrepper  10 месяцев назад

      It depends on function and where you'll be using it the most. The pump hose has a built in screen filter so that helps with that issue. And you need to fully drain everything after use which helps to avoid the freeze issues. But I agree that it has a level of fragility to it.

    Hot water on demand is great. But in the Apocalypse, where are you going to get the "gas" to heat it with that unit? Now me, I much prefer the USB rechargeable shower head/pump and a big bucket that I can fill with hot water that i can heat up on a wood fire. A solar panel can keep my showerhead/pump charged up for many years.
    Even works when you're out of power for 8 days.

    Geyser System - is much better (it is more efficient, more portable, and will even work with a pocket stove). The Geyser System can bath you with less than 1 gallon of water. It is great for preppers an MADE IN THE USA.

    Matthew 6:25-34(KJV) Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
    Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
    Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
    And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
    And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
    Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
    Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
    (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
    But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
    Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
