Thanks Tony I replaced the 3 port valve after watching this - and all good
Little tip for you , check between orange and grey with a multi meter on continuity , this will prove a faulty micro switch safely with no exposed 240v electrics , orange being switch live and grey permanent live. A Resistance check is also fine expect a low ohms reading if the switch is closed circuit. Hope this helps someone out anyway. Thanks

Thanks, been having issues with my heating being on intermittently thought it was the thermostat but replaced this and it worked for a while. Noticed to day with programmer switched off the pump was still running, disconnected orange wire and pump stopped running, swapped out with hot water solenoid and pump only comes on when heating called. Unfortunately to late to get replacement as all shut for new year will replace then.
Hi.I have this same problem and a similar set up with two zone valves. My heating and hot water both are working and the valves open and close as expected but the boiler is always on (not firing but on) and the pump is always running. Once i switch power off and open the junction box. What values should i be looking for on the multimeter? Also what settings do i need to use on the multimeter to confirm its a microswitch fault?
Thank you.... very helpful..

Thank you very much that was a very clear explanation. Had same thing with a 3 way valve as I believe there is a live in there ( HW off ) when heating is off. Many thanks.
I tried that, but just runs all the time. Aux switch maybe stuck in on position.
Hi, pump on biasi riva advance he is constantly running without demand and sends boiler to lock out. What should be the checks for that. Can it be acutator? Came across ur videos finding solution. Ur vids are the best on RUclips. Thanks for helping so many
Are you a gas safe engineer?
Hi there, is the Drayton unit faulty or was it incorrectly wired?

Hi, was the boiler keeping the heating on permanently?
I have a similar issue where my gas usage is super high even though we are rarely using any gas. I have noticed the boiler is always fired up even though the schedule on the thermostat is clear and the heating is off. None of the radiators are hot either until we turn the heating on via the nest thermostat which is correct.
I'm assuming the boiler being permanently fired up is my usage issue? And do you know how to fix it or what it could be? Any help is welcome. I'm an electrician but I'm not really experienced in heating systems.
Just to add it is a heating only boiler
I'm going to launch on online boiler repair training very soon
@Mircea thanks for the reply mate. I ended up working out that a zone valve was faulty so I changed it and it's all good now

Hi there- I have a similar problem - any tips would be welcome! We have 3 floors, our top floor thermostat will fire up the boiler, but the middle and ground floor (which run out of the same valve) has started to be temperamental - most of the time the thermostat for the middle/ground will not fire up the boiler. So it's kinda the opposite of the problem in this video. Any idea what might be causing it?
One of the zones seems like its faulty
@@BoilerrepairNet Thanks for the reply - do you reckon this is a faulty motorized valve, or the controller? Can I use the same technique you used in this video to determine what is going on?
Give it a go and see what happens

Our boiler stays on even when it is set to off on the timer.. if I turn the boiler off on the boiler itself (via temperature knob) or at the mains wall switch it does turn off? Is this something to do with the timer unit?
It could be a zone valve
What I have is central heating pump running all the time with no hot water calling on a 3port valve.
It could be a pump over run feature from the boiler. Turn off all the power then turn back on again after 5 mins make sure the hot water and heating demand is off. See what happens
Baxi solo 2PF constanty calling for heat, Changed for new Thermostat, New tank thermo stat, Acentuator, new 3 way valve, new mother board, new motherboard on off switch, new thermister.... Whats left? still calling for heat for radiators...!
Do you have zone valves or a mid position valve ?
A junction box on the floor? Not great if there's a flood or leak.
That's correct. Good obversation
