Cute Baby Seal Won't leave His Rescuers!

- Two more seal rescues at Pelican Point, Namibia, by Antoine and Naude from Ocean Conservation Namibia (OCN):
Seal 1 had a thin piece of nylon string wrapped around it's neck. It caused a deep painful cut. The salt water will help with the healing process, the cut looked clean and not infected. We are very sure he will make a full recovery.
Seal 2 was a small male baby seal caught in something similar to cling wrap or shrink wrap. It had not cut into his skin yet, we found him on time before he would get hurt any further. He was caught with our custom build seal catching net, and he seemed to like it a lot, he did not make any attempt at all to get out! Naude and Antoine even helped him to get both his flippers out, and gave him a little push from behind, but he was so chilled, he could not be bothered.
Eventually he decided to join her friends, and he ran back to the colony.
Most of our rescues are very serious and difficult to deal with, we appreciate it when we have a cute and uncomplicated rescue like this one in between. 🦭

I just love the way the seals react to Antoine’s voice when he speaks to them. They instantly relax when he says “hello puppy” and “awe I know puppy it hurts”. Well done guys for the amazing work you do ☺️💜
Good point.
That voice is one all babies respond to, even ours. The higher pitch and lilting quality make it easier for babies to learn & understand communication. If you listen to more of these, you'll hear that just as woth humans, and all kinds of other animals, the babies have much higher pitched voices.

The worst part is it's not people failing to throw trash away, it's big trash companies dumping it in the wrong places
Most of that plastic trash that end up in the oceans come from south asian countries such as India or Indonesia. You can go green all you want in the west and keep self blaming but even if western countries banned all plastics overnight it wouldn"t change anything because of all the poor overpopulated underdevelopped countries that have no green legislations or structures to handle the trash
Those trap bags are just brilliantly designed, but it's a shame that there are so many injured Seals that the bags are necessary...

Imagine being a seal who has only known that being captured basically meant that your life was over. Then one day, a group of weird looking creatures capture you. You'd think: this is it, this is how I die, but then these creatures just remove a something than has been causing you pain before allowing you to leave. Its not very hard to see why it stayed

I can't stop watching this one. I'm so sad 😞 with the first rescue. Then the second pup I'm so happy and just love soooo much the way he lies there without a care in the world loving his back rub. One, two flippers and a shake of his bum still doesn't bother him. As soon as the plastic is picked up he soon moves his but 👋 I'm sure I will be watching this one again and again. Happy pup🦭🤗
There are rumors amongst the seals of creatures that look and seem like monsters, but are truly angels. If you are lucky enough, the angels grab and bag you. They hold your nose and body down. It’s so scary and it hurts, sometimes a lot, and we cry and struggle to break free. Eventually we do break free and soon realize we can breathe and swallow. By then the angels are gone. Some pups never see the monsters, only the angels and they hang around for a bit with their new friends.

It's a love-hate thing: you love watching these videos but hate that he has to keep rescuing more animals from trash.
That poor seal who had a small string stuck in their neck which caused a deep cut...that is so sad, after these men helped that seal I felt so much happier. I’m glad people like them exist.

Rescuer: wound is surprisingly clean.
Seal: the sea is salty.
Well, it might burn, but it cleans the wound and helps healing.
Saline solution is the number one wound cleaner, albeit somewhat more sanitary.

@@carolnorton2551 Not seawater. Seawater is full of microorganisms and pollutants from human activity. You can get nasty infections from open wounds in contact with seawater. Wild animals like these however have extremely robust immune systems which protect them from such infections.

No, the best feeling is when they are free, with no wounds, with no plastic problems like this, with a good and clean environment to live in the old real Nature before humans destroyed everything...this is extremely sad, I almost cried watching this :( If those guys were not working to save them, well.... They are heroes, of course, but they are cause they are the good face of humanity and not the other part that caused all from the start, and that part includes all of us, even when we don't see it. :(

Jesus Christ, the cut on that seal was severe. Crazy how such a thin piece of plastic could do that much damage.
It's a matter of tensile strength and growing around it I guess. A simple 3 millimeter string and a tight knot can cut down a tree given enough time
He probably had it on for a LONG time, so the plastic would rub on him constantly :[ im also surprised as to how clean the wound was :u. But in all its quite sad how poor animals like these suffer from plastics thrown in the ocean by humans themselves

I would never donate to my channel on this platform, since YT eats most of the donation anyway. So you would be giving the money to some greedy ass bastards instead of the actual channel. It’s better to maybe donate to their Patreon since then 100% will go to the rescuers and not the platform they use.

@@goldenjebboni1331 i think he mean its incredibly terrifying for the seals bc anything in the wild that charges at you is 9/10 times a predator and when everyone's running around you, you tend to follow and run aswell. So id imagine if you are the one out of the 100s of seals who gets grabbed by this unknown creature thinking your about to become dinner, then it would be extremely terrifying lol.
You guys have really the toughest and most purest job to do helping them from there huge pain.

That's really gruesome stuff they UNDO. The athleticism of chasing their pups down, avoiding wicked (self defensive) bites... Then cooing reassurances while saving them from the potentially fatal consequences of others' carelessness? They're MY heroes, too! 😘👍
