You can make inputs before it appears actually.

It is impressive to think that, with optimal movement in both games, it is theoretically impossible to touch grass in Sunshine before _beating_ Super Mario Bros. any%.
That was a really weird way to phrase that but I get what you mean

OP is saying that you can speedrun Super Mario Bros any% faster than you can touch grass in Sunshine.
The phrasing is weird because it leaves ambiguity and it could be interpreted that its impossible to touch grass in sunshine until you have beaten Super Mario Bros. any% and that optimal movement does not solve this issue.
The problem being the use of the word 'before' which in the way the sentence was constructed would be referring to the act of touching grass before the event of having beaten Super Mario Bros. any%
As opposed to the intended communication of touching grass in less time than it takes to beat Super Mario Bros.

I think he just meant the intro cutscene. In Mario Odyssee you already have control before entering the Cascade Cutscene
I forgive the Odyssey cutscene being counted because that was some of the most enthusiastic grass touching I have ever seen. Whole body grass contact! Maximum grass touching!

There's something hilarious to me about the idea of someone running as fast as they can toward some grass, and then just pitter-pattering their feet really quickly on it. I think I've found my new hobby.

@@The_RedAdmiral I'm pretty sure you touch grass as soon as you get control of Bowser. Partners in Time, though, you might need to get all the way to Toadwood Forest, or even Yoshi's Island...
As like kinda simple as this is, it really is cool seeing all the games at once. Plus I mean the work involved to get a hold of every single game, 10/10 man. I'm definitely binging and subscribing. Lol

I love how you just nonchalantly flew past the item box in Mario 3, that gave me the giggles. Thanks for touching all that grass, I really appreciate it.
I remember one Christmas morning getting a gamecube and Sunshine but NO MEMORY CARD. My mom told me I would have to wait a couple days before we could go buy one, so needless to say I went through that opening sequence like 20 freaking times since I had to restart the game each time lmao.
But another thing I used to love doing in Sunshine (random) was trying to find the highest possible point I could high dive off of into some water, like on top of the windmill in Bianco Hills and on top of the ferris wheel platform in Pinna Park. As an adult I've seen glitches where you can launch into the stratosphere; if I still had the game I would totally try it and do the ultimate dive and cannonball lol
You didn't have control of Mario in Cascade Kingdom in Super Mario Oddesey when he "touched grass".
The editing is great, the jokes are great, the whole video seems really well put-together. Can't wait to see what you come out with next!
for super mario land, there is a deluxe version for the game boy color, and you could tell which one was grass
edit: its not called dx but on gb color or gbc, it will play on color

Super Mario bros deluxe is not the same game as super Mario land at all. Mario deluxe is a remake of Mario 1 for the gameboy color,
Mario LAND never got a coloured version officially.
I still recommend Mario bros deluxe tho. That was a great remake

In Galaxy you touched a flower bush, not necessarily grass. In Odyssey you broke your rules and counted touching grass during a cutscene.
You can see grass under the flower bush in galaxy
If it's green, it's grass. It's true. I promise.
He cut the video there for comedic timing. Right after the cutscene you get movement there and can move on the grass.
As for the flower bush thing, right visibly under the flowers is grass

@@zerg-rush5797 The timer on the top-left corner is stopped before the cutscene even ended. You can see Mario's hand twitching, meaning that the timer stopping isn't due to the whole video being paused.

Super mario sunshine. Probably one of the most nostalgic mariogames to me. Not counting Super Mariocart 1 and a few other ones from the gamecube ofc :D
It's kinda ironic in 1st Mario Bros., the first grass that you can touch exists in stage with mostly platforms.
And it’s arguably not even grass it’s tree leaves. I’m not sure if there’s any proper grass in the whole game. If you have the deluxe edition on Game Boy Color the World map has grass but on the sides of the paths.

3:10 Greatest of all time? It was my first game ever, and I have a ton of nostalgia for it, but no way is it anywhere close to my favourites. The camera is asinine at times, the levels are great, but not super creative compared to newer games and so on. I feel like it has a lot of flaws, but it doesn't stop people from absolutely loving it.

This is hilarious! I love the concept. I would have counted the beginning of Mario 2. Pretty sure those "green pillars" are stylized hills and thus probably covered in grass.
Objection! At 5:06 Mario is standing in a flower bed, which typically don't have grass as it would steal nutrients tlfrom the flowers. The green seen there is the leaves of the flowers. The closest grass is the lawn just beyond the stone path there.
