    Essencially this job is just cutting out a disc and doing a bit of soldering but I have learned a few things from doing these a few times in my career. There was a lot to explain about!
    One of those jobs thats simple but can become a mess quickly if youre not careful.

    Calling for new patrons!
    With patrons support I will be able to offer far more information than I am currently able to.
    With nearly 25 years of knowledge gained in the jewellery trade working with some of the best diamond mounters in the UK I can train practitioners of jewellery making, up to and far beyond the skill level usually found in High Street jewellers workshops.
    Become a classic patron and you will not only be able to view part 2 of full instructional guides but also be thanked personally on the next youtube upload! You will also have access to all future uploads 2 weeks before they go live on youtube.
    Official patrons have all the benefits of a classic patron but also gain access to regular exclusive content. Behind the scenes, personal jewellery projects Im working on, I share ideas for future videos, photos and stories from throughout my career as a professional jeweller.
    Also Official patrons are welcome to suggest ideas for future videos and contact me anytime if they need advice for their own jewellery making endeavors.
    Classic patronage is just £5 a month and to become an Official patron costs only £10 a month making Diamond Mounter patronage by far the best value way to gain access to online jewellery making courses.
    As the number of full instructional guides continues to grow the value will be even more considerable.

    When I am trying to match my dividers to an exact distance, I set the calipers to the distance I need, and then I lightly press them into a piece of aluminium. Then it's a snap to match the points of the dividers to the impressions I just made! 😀

    Wouldn't it be better if you put the solder on the inside? It's pretty tricky to get it in there, but I imagine flooding it would be simpler and the outside wouldn't need cleaning up.🤔

    what about flooding a small amount of solder on the bottom piece, then flip the whole works upside down and solder it? you would be applying heat to the bottom so solder shouldn't flood onto the prongs right?

    • @DiamondMounter
      @DiamondMounter  2 года назад +1

      I think would work but its gonna look messy inbetween the prongs.

    Wouldn’t it be easier to use solder paste to, at least, tack down & then it would be easier to control the hard solder

      Never used solder paste maybe I should get some

      @joyceeberner 2 года назад +1

      @@DiamondMounter I use solder paste on small attachments; for stronger reinforcement, just tack in a couple of places.. then you can finish with hard solder. FYI : solder paste comes in all metals & all hardness and no flux needed. Try it!!

      @@joyceeberner HI! Can you provide a link or tell us where to purchase precious metal solder paste? Thanks so much!

    If it bothers you that the tool ideas in your head haven't been made yet then make them. Make them and market them. What's the old saying ? Nothing ventured nothing gained ?

      Yes! Its on my mind to venture in to tool design

      @@DiamondMounter I think you would do well and make a good tool designer. You kinow what we need and don't have or what we aren't utilizing enough of. I would go with a doming block with more simples. More places on a bezel block for that bastard size that's just under or over.
