    Nice video. I have a 2010 Malibu that's had a leak getting progressively worse in the same general location. I've been having to drive on it for two weeks monitoring the oil and getting the occasional smoking from oil dripping onto hot components. The only thing I can think of is a crankshaft seal so this weekend I'm going to clean it up as best I can and attempt to replace.

      Ok great! You should be able to handle this job. I took me a while to find this leak. The oil was spraying everywhere off of the crankshaft so it made it tough to pinpoint the leak. But when I realized where it was coming from it was an easy fix. Thanks for watching a be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already!

    Awesome video bro!!💯. I’m doing this job right now. I know this video is 2 years old but I’m hoping you see this comment.
    I have to quick questions.
    1.) Did your new Seal come with a metal ring attached to the rubber seal? The old seal I removed from my Malibu was just a rubber seal like the one in your video.
    2.) After you reinstalled the Crankshaft pulley did you have to make any adjustments with the timing marks and or adjust timing? Thanks you bro.

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  3 года назад +1

      My new seal did not come with a metal ring. It was all plastic/rubber. And no, I made no adjustments with timing marks. I just put the pulley back on the same way it came off. It has notches in it and it wouldn’t seat until it got to the correct place. 👍🏽👌🏽

Anyone else with knowledge in this area, Please Respond. Thanks! P.S. I've heard that the seating of the new seal sometime requires and large socket and a hammer to tap in in to get it to seat completely. Your thought on this??

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  4 года назад +1

      From the pictures I’ve looked at, the 2.2L for 2007 and 2008 look very similar. I can’t say they are exactly the same though. I’ve seen seals seated by tapping them with a large socket. If you have one the correct size, it might help, but be careful not to damage the seal. The seal I installed was plastic and it slid into position fine by just coating it in oil.

    Mine is leaking from a different location,which other pully would have oil leaking from?

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  5 лет назад +1

      I would check the valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket. I don’t think it would leak from another pulley. If my memory is correct, you have the crankshaft pulley, tensioner pulley, alternator and A/C compressor. Those are the only other things driven by the belt and those shouldn’t be leaking oil.
