Very helpful video. It is worth mentioning that if you have to replace the lower left control arm, you have to remove the engine mount too.

Thank you so much for this video. It was my main reference before undertaking the project on my daughters 2006 Malibu LTZ. Just when I thought I watched it enough. I was immediately surprised by the location of the transmission mounts on the six cylinder. Your video was still helpful though because what I wound up doing was just changing the rear bushing. Thats all I needed but decided to do the control arms while I was at it but once I saw the mount on the passenger side particularly I said, screw it and just did the bushings.

I'm a novice and I just bought all the parts for my suspension/steering stuff and was gonna replace em instead of paying the price of a new car to have someone else do it. But this is the second vid I've watched that's mentioned that so I'm kinda worried about it now lol

Id always recommend using a torque wrench torque. A standard click style wrench is pretty affordable. Even buying a wrench you're still saving a pretty penny

Can you exceed 37 pounds of torque on the back bolts?

    • @themechanic6117

Sure but dont get crazy with how much you torque them

Hey bro I hit a curb last night after skidding off the road. In a bad snow storm, my wheel got pushed back 1-2 inches to the fender. Would my lower control arm be bent?

How do you find these no maintenance vehicle owners? I would be a nervous wreck driving many of these cars you deal with

I guess its the area i live in. Either people dont have the money to fix things or they just dont care to fix their cars.

      The mech a nic
I am on my maintenance so much that you could use my old parts and those owners would think you put new parts on.

Why do u have to get the car a alignment right away

    • @themechanic6117
      @themechanic6117  5 лет назад

If the alignment is off it wil effect your handling and wear out the tires faster

I have a 2006 V6 G6 GT. Be aware the Napa driver side which is left control arm 260 - 5873 and the passenger side come with the wrong pinch bolt. It is too big. AutoZone will sell you the control arm but they do not have a pinch bolt! ALWAYS ALWAYS BRING THE OLD PARTS WITH YOU & CHECK YOUR PART'S AND BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE STORE. I was just at O'Reilly and they sold me the control arm for the wrong side. The box was correct however the part inside the unopened bag is not labeled. O'Reilly associates are very helpful but the company itself is setting itself up for failure No wonder people would rather order online.

I'm working on the passenger side and there's no room to remove the bolt from the spot where the bolt goes through the rubber part and bolts to the subframe...
Such a pain in the ass!!!

Are you talking about the "round" end or the "box" end? You can use the open end of a wrench that just fits over the circumference of the bolt to push on it as you turn the bolt head. It will eventually come out.

Gr8 video and very helpful! Just out of curiosity what part is that, that you used floor Jack to lift the car and why not frame? Thank you in advance!
