Ah man @christofix you made yet ANOTHER jig I need to make. Good on ya, these are the best types of videos! My favorite tool? Easy! It has to be my table saw. I am fortunate enough to have a SawStop 36" 3 hp table saw that I absolutely adore! My wife swears it gets taken better care of than my car!

well there are a lot of things to say! First of all many thanks for the shout!! Then i have to say this is by far the most versatile router jig I've seen so far. last, my favorite tools are my low angle planes! they are so sweet to use. I also add that my least favorite tools is the router. But it's less stressful to use it with this kind of jigs

When you go wider than you expect, and need a stop like you did at the end for the Template routing, if you Modify your Clamps on either side with a Dado at the bottom of the clamp, with a star knob/bolt going through the top, you could use any scrap wood piece to go from one side to the other on the top of both of your long boards, and then temporarily attach a board of the correct length (or close enough it will stop the router when it gets to it) to the bottom of the cross board strips, then, you would only have one pair of boards (I would assume the same as the length of the jig is now, so, you could do a big square template, and, then temporarily attach the scrap boards to the bottom of your long boards for whatever width you were trying to template at that time.
All you would have to do is set the stop block at the location you wanted the router to stop, attach some scrap boards the thickness of your Side boards of your jig now, to the bottom of your cross boards, to make it to the bottom of the jig)Touching the Routed stock you are routing) and clamp both sides down.
So, that means, a track the length of your jig now on the other side, so you have an adjustable track on both sides to clamp your cross boards to..
Might as well make the cross boards the same as your jig length is now, so, your max size of your new modified jig is a Square the same size as your length is now..
Same Length/Width (was a rectangle template, now can be a square, the same width as the current length is now.
Looking at the jig again,,, You could just use another set of boards like you have on each end now, only needing a slot routed down the middle (Leaving an inch (Not Slotted) every (guessing 10" or so to keep the boards rigid enough to stay stable), and just run a T-Bolt down into the existing T-track you have now. You would still have to have a T-slot on the other side you don't have now. Same temporary board attached to the bottom to keep the router base from going under it. The boards would be laying flat, so, plywood would not flex, even if it were only a scrap of 1" or so and you didn't push on it too hard, but, 1.5" or 2" would surely do it over the same span, or, just make it like your other long side pieces and you are sure to be Ok, if it works fine now. Nice Job btw.. Nothing like taking a little from lots of designs and making the "Super Sled".. Ha... Got a glimpse of your table saw sled, looking for that video now. Looks like you have a replaceable insert in the blade area..
It is one of the "Must Have" options on my next table saw sled. And, some through holes for the hand if you have a tall fence closest to you, to finger hold those short parts without having to clamp everything, every time.

The table saw sled does indeed have replaceable inserts along the saw blade. That is a feature that I am very happy that I added at the time. When I make a new sled myself, I do it again immediately. I like how tight the dado is when you use your jig! Great job as always 👍 my favourite tool is the one that gets the job done! I try not to have favourites, but the one I find myself turning on most often at the moment is my 1946 Delta 14" bandsaw 🍻

Great jig! I am here from Thosa's channel & am glad that he recommended your channel! As far as how to extend the sides, just make different lengths (maybe in 2" increments?) and use the one that would work the best when you need it. A little more work on your part but easy enough to do!

@@christofix Good to be here! I was also giving the edge extension some thought. Perhaps you could use small magnets inserted into the edges of the wood and simply use different lengths that would attach to what you already have? You could make pieces shaped like an "L" that would also be able to attach to the top of the section you already have by inserting magnets there as well? Not sure if I am explaining it correctly but maybe you get the picture? Keep up the great woodworking............. :)

I found this and it's been a few years but why not make and extension that utilizes the existing tracks you have going across the jig. this way it can be adjustable as a stop along the way anywhere on the jig. It would sit across as you have the temporary support on your existing stop but this would be two pieces connected in such a way to expand (or pull out like a draw slide).

Good idea. I have tought about that but it isn't posible because the fence on the other side is in the way. I have tought about so many options but there was always something that was blocking my ideas. If you have another idea just let me know my friend! Thanks for this idea!

Thank you for your kind words. About the music, the moment I made that video I had a lot of problems finding good royalty-free music. A few months ago I bought a license for music and can use better quality music now. But it is still something personal. Some like the music, others don't. I think that the benefit of using music in my videos is that when people who don't like it can turn it off, LOL.

I like this! Initially I thought that the whole thing would be adjustable...like not needing the stop blocks at all providing the template would need just 4 sides.
I'm in the process of building a mini balcony over the front door entry and I was thinking of using a dado to slide the one piece down and into the side 2x10s that have a slope mimicking the angle of the steps that are under the future balcony. Am I over thinking this? Or should I just nail the stuff together and not worry about stuff that drywall is gonna cover anyway.... Thoughts?

And I guess shooting in some nails vs making some more dust (this time wood instead of drywall) happen in an open foyer that I did not take off with plastic to prevent the dust from going everywhere...cuz I did not prepare. I have limited time to do some of these projects. I admire your skills and I hope your wife is appreciative of the time it takes to making things nice.

When using it as a template, I would opt to forget about the stop blocks.
Instead, saw two pieces of mdf, clamp/tape them between the two long guides you already have. This on a per-project-basis of course..
