yea... and the fact, that he is sometimes a little bit too fast! He is pressing short cuts like a star craft player as if he is being hunted! XD Did he explain anywhere how you select Islands? I know, that I had seen that being mentioned in a tutorial of another guy some weeks ago, but can not recall where it is and how I reproduce this. Was watching this to "refresh" my brain and only I see him making kind a double click to select these Isles, but I must have missed, where he tells, what he is exactly doing to select those so easily. Another thing for optimizing his tutorials would be showing on screen which buttons he presses.
Whend did he do that, he explained you need to right click to create seams and u to unwrap, he showed a mirroring plugin at the end (that's better/easier than the mirror modifier) so you can unwrap just the half and save time
for anyone who is stuck on the part around 3:40 where he is clicking behind his facecam: - go to "Material" tab on the vertical sidebar (with the globe that has a grid on it) - press the "+" button on the far right side to add a new material - go down to 'base color' and select 'image texture' from the popup menu - under image texture select 'new' - in the popup, set 'Generated Type' to 'UV Grid' now when you press Z in the workspace, it will bring up a popup menu, click the bottom one for 'material preview' this will show the UV grid as a texture, which let's you see any distortions on your model
thanks for making this! for those who don't see UVs by default when you go into the UV editor, just highlight the whole mesh in edit mode (A), hit U, and then in the Unwrap menu, you can select something like Unwrap, and then the UVs will appear.
38 seconds in and TIL how to select vertices on both screens simultaneously in UV edit mode! 6.25 min and you explained more than I’ve seen in dozens of videos combined. Thank you!
I cant- im just trying to unwrap a low poly character’s head. When I do what you say the map just shows the blue squares covering the whole thing and it looks very weird
is´nt there at faster way to do this? sure if you have a figure like yours with very low resolution, this is doable, but say you just double the amount of detail, then this process will take forever. this really has to be worked on in this programe.
Hi i have a bit of a question, so I have my seams marked down and unwrapped and I got 3 seams: the thigh, the knee, and the ankle just like in your model. I unwrap both the thigh and under the knee area separately but when I want to move a specific unwrapping- let’s say, the thigh, it also drags the start of the other unwrapping which would be the ankle. It drags where the knee would be and I can’t unselect those vertices either or else it’ll unselect the ones from the thigh as well. I Wanted to know if there’s a way to fix this? Like in 4:47 you’re able to move it without an edge from the other being dragged. Sorry for the bad explanation, it’s something that’s been bugging me X(. I can specify more on something if you’d want me to
Awesome tutorial. My only suggestion would be to find a way to dampen the sound of your keyboard. You type at a furious speed just like me but it doesn't lend itself well to trying to listen to your content lol
The only issue would be your head covering the panel you are selecting items in.
yeah -_-

he isnt really selecting anything important there, marking seams, unwrapping etc all can be seen.

Best UV unwrapping tutorial for Blender I have seen. And I'm watching them for last couple days xD
quick, to the point, good tutorial
Thanks!
This might be the best tutorial out there for UV mapping in blender, well done!

Watch a few seconds before 0:29
And thanks!
ye its useful af, i was losing my mind that i couldnt see the polygons im selecting in texture window in 3D viewer...
I don't get it. When I select loops and mark seam, the uvs on the left hand side don't show anything?
You have to select everything and press U and unwrap
Great tutorial
Thank you!
Idk what you're doing in the last part but the main stuff is explained very fast
Thanks for this... I've referenced this video several times.
3:50 I cannot see, what you are doing there... But otherwise good, thanks.
u still leaving the mirror seams part left :( but thanks for the addon, actually i need it

Your head covers the tool panel.
Adding a UV map to an object in the "UV Editing" view is stupidly complicated still.
thx bro!
I have learned some very important tips from this video. Thank you
I am not getting the "display stretch" option on my UV editor, did you have to activate an add-on to get it to show up?
It's not an addon. Are you sure you're on the UV editor and not the image editor? Join my discord and I can help you, discord.com/invite/MMjMuPN
When I do this there isn't enough room to stop overlap
thanks for the quick tutorial
No problem!
i select my model no a thing appears how go i solve this?
I'm sorry, what do you mean? What timestamp?

Theres no problems with it being a higher resolution. I've worked on high poly models and never come into problems
wait did you just use the katakana for "ma" as a 1? Crafty
Thanks for this short and concise tutorial!
Yeah lol
how can i make uv unwrap in blender i find this very difficult

Just change into face select mode at the top of the viewport or press 3 at the top of your keyboard
@@ThomasPotter thank you so much!!!!! Really great video by the way :)
@@Megahertz2000 Thanks!

whenever i try unwrapping it keeps saying edge seams need to be added, what does this mean?
You need to select edges and add some seams before you unwrap
thanks pal very userfull
Glad it helped!
Cool
Thanks!
It's for beginners but you move so fast it's very difficult to keep up.
That's why RUclips added playback speed buttons
@@wallstreetsplooge I tried that but then he sounds like he's drunk.
i dont even hv the 2wayu awrrow on top..
Was fine until he started going really fast then I was lost.
EXACTLY WHY DO THEY ALL DO THIS???
so manty clicks, dotn ur fingers hurt?
lol
this did not need a facecam man you are covering a lot
yeah, I made this video over two years ago, I've fixed it in later tutorials
Good video except you mumble fast like you were doing this in a library where you had to whisper
Gracias por los subtítulos xd
I didn't do them lol
You sound South African?
Yes I am
@@ThomasPotter Nice to see you on RUclips!
I get cancer watching this clicking soundbot
Low poly model, at least it's not a cube, next tutorial.
