A big thank you to Ridge.com for sponsoring this video! A while back, I made a trip to the Philippines and had an incredible time with good food, good drinks, and great friends (old and new). With all good things, they eventually come to an end and to be honest, I was dreading the journey back! I booked a 12 hour layover in Hong Kong assuming I was going to be able to explore the city; unfortunately circumstances prevented that.
What to do with 12 hours confined to the Hong Kong Airport? Well, it'll be fun to explore and it turned out to be an adventure in the best possible way! ...an eating adventure.
Thankfully with the specialty credit cards, the airport lounges were available and did I ever take advantage of their gracious services! Food, drinks, and a hot shower was in order!
From the made to order wonton noodle soup, to a buffet comforting brisket and snacks, the 12 hours flew by putting one into a food coma... If the food didn't do it for your, then the cocktails, wines and beers certainly would have. A very enjoyable layover indeed.
If you are interested in the American Express Credit Card that I use to access the lounges and to get 150,000 welcome bonus points, check out my referral link (Terms Apply):

I just ordered one! Thank you for the promo Tim 😊
I had about 5 hours in Hong Kong airport about 20 years ago. I found it was a very comfortable place with great views out over the sea. I had come from Heathrow which was the pits. On one of the upper floors I found a collection of food outlets with everything from fast food to fine dining. I remember a good bowl of noodle soup. I did not have the luxury of lounge access but the seating was good and the views were spectacular.
It is quite a very nice airport... Lots of good food and comfortable throughout the airport
The king of buffet’s is back . He has the good life , the food looks good. The pancake machine is cool.
I flew from Chicago to HK and had a overnight layover. I had time to visit downtown for a few hours and when I returned to the airport I found one of the lounges. Took a very nice shower and recieved a couple free drinks and found a nice quiet place to sleep until my flight to Malaysia. Loved the lounges at the aorport.
No showers really make a difference! 🙂
How much is the lounge?
I have a question did you oay for the shower amenities or is that for free??
@@steph_madz4364 I believe the shower came with the lounge.
One of the best channels on youtube; highly informational with a nice, low key approach. I love it. What a delightful change from most of the in-your-face garbage spewed from most other channels.
you always bring out smiles and joy from everyone you interact with! you also bring that out in me and others viewers when we're treated to a video from you! enjoy the planes, food, conversation and travel! We always enjoy watching! 💕
Fake smile.
I love that airport 🛫 Hong Kong 🇭🇰. Great video Tim
Excellent journey with you...glad you had a good flight and had food lounges to help time go fast..cheers my friend!!!!
That automatic pancake machine was amazing! The US hotels need to get on board with those! What a game changer for those often sad breakfast included hotel stays!
Thanks for sharing all the lovely airport lounges and airplane food! Wouldn't mind those layovers at all!
Most hotel in U.S had that pancake maker
I don't know what hotel you stay at, but Hampton Inn has a great breakfast buffet. Guests can make their own fresh Belgian waffles. They had two types of meat daily, eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, milk and coffees.
Love how you make me feel like I'am actually on this trip with you ! You are such a curtious and kind soul. ❤
He's just faking it to attract subscribers.
@mark72141 Yeah, right !
@@ashleybreckheimer1387 Yea I'm right. Take note of what he does to all staff in every restuarant he goes. He says the same thing over and over again like "You're so nice", "You guys are great". He even calls them in their first names because he sees the name tags. Nothing's wrong with that. People appreciate calling them by their first names. But, would he do that if he's not on video? Would you he do it if he has no Vlog like this? He's over selling himself. He's over friendly which shows hypocrisy and pretense. I hope I'm wrong but that's how analyze his behavior.
@@mark72141 so you're a behavioral specialist, I must assume?
Hi Tim thanks for taking us along with you as always. The food looked great at the airports and even in the airplane. Have a great week ahead.
I feel like I’ve been on a wonderful journey thank you for your content
Hello Tim Lee: .. Always very so exciting to view your marvelous videos!! .. The Hong Kong Airport is quite beautiful! .. WOW!! .. You know I absolutely love how well you describe the delicious food you encounter. .. I really appreciate seeing all the wonderful places you visit. .. I may never get to those fantastic places but so happy I can actually see them through your visits!! .. Thank you so much for another incredibly amazing video!! .. God Bless You Always, CC ❤🥰
Awesome, Tim! Chicken/Pineapple, Dimsum, Wonton soup is awesome, nice Pasta, Potatoes, Spring Rice rolls etc! Reminds me of when, during the early 1990s, I was a US Army Military Police Senior Customs Inspector, working out of Stuttgart International Air Port the Buffett for Airport employees, the Buffet Breakfast was awesome! What a well designed and clean shower room! Nice Airline Meal, Dimsum dish@ 31:17! Which Vancouver? USA or Canada? Well done!
I love watching you how you can eat so much I don't know good luck
31:37 Watch his tummy gradually expands as the food served reduces... 😅 Love your vlogs, Tim.
You have a very warm energy. I love it! New follower ❤
Thank you so much for your kind comment 🙏
The Sapphire lounge looked the best.
There's something to be said for choosing the right hand side of the plane, window seat if you are right handed. Although it was a tight fitting at least your right hand was free to move around as opposed to having chosen a window seat on the left hand side.
I loVe going to airport lounge, it's one of the best highlights of my travel. Thank you for sharing yours Tim. Stay safe. 🙂🙏
The lounges are actually quite nice and kind of a treat when traveling 🙂
What a great way to spend hours on an airport layover...non-stop eating and drinking lol! It sure beats trying to sleep on uncomfortable seating. Cheers from Lisbon :)
Tim ...you are so relaxing to watch and very thorough in your reporting of foods and places ....great job and usual ..👍
I haven't been to the airport in 3 years so thank you for this Tim 😄
Nice video. Would love to travel to those places. Delicious looking food at the airports. Thanks and take care.
Congee a bit thick. Looks delicious. Though the food cost is not expensive but was very well cook. Good. Very good. As long is well make delicious choice
Wow Tim u make travel look so easy and welcoming. Food looked delicious these countries made food that was amazing and hot. Loved the shower room!! Great job. Love u buddy Warmly Cookie 😊
Great review , expert gentle and insightful narration and presentation, music, editing and camera work ....hang on,was that you shaking your own cocktails? You really are versatile!
I believe that was Max 😉
That shower /bathroom was great 👍🇹🇹
It's so comforting to get a shower before a flight
Hi Tim! I really enjoy following your food adventures. Love your chill polite demeanour. Is Amex Platinum your key for the lounges?
Wow! Good guess.. yes, that was it 🙂
As someone who doesn't travel a lot, I was seriously wondering how one gains access to these lounges. AMEX Platinum is definitely out of reach for me. Are there other ways to gain access without premium credit cards?
hi is it possible to go out of the airport during 12 hrs layover in Hongkong?
Hello thank you for all this, I just want to ask about the restriction. Are you not allowed to go outside the airport on a layover? what sort of restriction is it? Thanks!
Nice!
Tim, thank you for your amazing and informative videos. Always a pleasure to watch. The only thing I wish could be different is the background music. It haunts me. For instance, I watch Travel Ruby and I really enjoy her music. I also watch Coolist, his background music is enjoyable as well. Maybe Coke a Cola can cover the cost, lol. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the recommendation. Music and audio isn't my strong suit, and always great to tweak this🙂
Did your seat mates on the plane ride get a kick out of your vlogging? 😂
How do you manage to get into all the lounges?
I use my credit card that allows for free access to a lot of the lounges. It is a perk that you end up paying for in their annual fees though...
Hello Tim wow you have nice trip and Jammy Delicious food trip I hope you nice relaxing days after long trip ❤thank you beautiful video God bless🙏🏼🌹
Thank you so much for your kind comment... Definitely a very nice trip 🙂
That's not a little bit of food Tim 😅😅😅. That's plenty for me anyway, well enjoy and safe trip.
Is the lounge paid separately? Sorry... Never travel like that before
I think they're available for a certain business or first class passengers or if you have one of those specialty credit cards... I fall in the latter group 🙂
Were you able to go out of the HK Airport in your 12hr layover?
i'm about to do 11.5 hours layover in hong kong with cathay, but i can't afford lounges😂
Neither can I. I use my credit card perks
Cost of the entries at these lounges???
I'm not sure but I got one of those credit cards that gives you access to the lounges. Was really making use of it
Was that a breakfast (or brunch?) buffet in Manila airport?
This was early in the morning in Manila ... I don't think they have even taken the wrapper of some of the dishes 🙂
@@TimLeeLetsGo how much is the buffet? Thank you so much for taking us to all these places . I love that you show us the experience itself, the way you do it. Thanks.
Hi Tim, How many Coca-Cola shirts do you have and where did you get them all from?
Oh, I can't ask that about... I should have explained. It's not a very exciting explanation I'm afraid. There is a Coca-Cola store in Las Vegas where they were having a sale on their t-shirts 😃
How do you get access to the lounge
I got one of those credit cards that gives you access to the lounges, it really came in handy
What kind of club or VIP travellers in order to enjoy these ? Or pay extra for it ? I don’t fly frequently, never offer it to me ?😳😳😂😂👀👀
Oh, there are some credit cards that let you go to certain lounges...some for free, others require a fee to go to the lounge. The credit cards generally have an annual fee though
they trap you in for hours but limit the time in a restaurant, yipes. but i love your videos as always. 😊
Yeah, you do have to be strategic about the timings 😉
Team Carbon Fiber 🙌
BEST airport this kansas reneck loser (me) ever went to. im sad my layover was ONLY 4 hours.
You can speak Cantonese Welcome to HK
Tim can speak Cantonese 😊
The language comes out only as it pertains to food 😋
Hi Tim Lee how are you doing? I would like to talk live with if you don't mind, about your trip thanks
You look really tired through this. Way to hang in there.
It was a bit tiring for sure 🙂
Only 1st class passengers and above get these services.
I'm not jelly tho. Glad he is fortunate like that.
Course I could be wrong because the way they were packed into that plane and the food served near the end of this, has me second guessing myself😮
Definitely not a first class passenger here... Economy for me 🙂. I got access to the lounges with one of those travel credit cards 🙂
@@TimLeeLetsGo Thanks. I was wondering how you got access to those lounges. I am an economy class traveller also and have never been in one of them but always wondered what they're like. So with a travel credit card and access, is all the food and drink in those lounges free?
@@coltranecave5503 it depends.. someecards will allow you to access the lounge if you pay. Others and usually the ones with a higher annual fee, will give you access to the lounges for free. I use the American Express platinum heart, but that's quite pricey.
@@TimLeeLetsGo Thanks for the info. Also, and not trying to be demanding, but please review more Vancouver-area restaurants!
Poor meals
Would it kill you to not talk with your mouth full? Sorry but it's gross to see chewed up food in your mouth (and often see bits of it fly out of your mouth in other videos) :(
Relax man, don't take this so seriously... We're only human, I don't see anything gross about it at all.
Lounge crawl.
Thanks for sharing this. I think the food looks great. I enjoy the food they serve on airplanes. Cheers, Tim and God Bless! ✌️🇨🇦
Hi Tim...that looked like fun, but exhausting, glad you made it back home after 24 hrs later 😊...safe travels, God Bless...sweet dreams and have a good night ?😘🤗💘
Very positive for being at airport for 12 hours; made the most of your time.
Such a fun time for Us!!
You always make everything so positive!!
Thank you for sharing!!
No masks at all in our airports? i noticed Mark Wiens wearing a mask in Japan.
I have been binge watching your videos. So much great content and you are really entertaining. 👌. Thanks from 🇦🇺
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us Tim! I love how relaxed your videos are, and how you show us around and describe all the foods in such detail, it's like we're there with you! Cheers from Toronto! Keep the great content coming 🥰
have a nice trip 🙂
Perfect timing!
Hong Kong airport lounges are fantastic😊
Mr. Lee how do you keep in shape😊
Hi Tim, I really enjoy your vlogs, excellent content. If you are ever in Ireland, please let me know as I will guide you to the best EVER food stops. Take care and Top of the morning to ya xx
You suddenly burst into perfect Cantonese when ordering the noodles
Hong Kong is definitely the place for you to show off your Cantonese
Hi Tim you seem like such a kind man. I would love to have a friend like you. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for all the lovely food reviews. Also, thank you for the beautiful places you’ve shown me. Take care God bless. ✝️
wow, 12 hour layover. Did you watch the movie Terminal? haha
Wow I really enjoy watching you so many other RUclipsrs stuff there faces so much that it makes me sick to the point I can't even enjoy there videos but I really enjoy yours thank you
Thank you so much for the kind comment, I might have overdone it here as well 🙂
Wonderful Buffet mate.. LOUNGE Food .. Well done... Tim...
Cool lounge hopping vid! But your messy soup noodle eating skills need some work haha.
On a long travel day such as that those lounges made the difference. Between the great food and the shower it can help the time pass sooner.
That shower was really really helpful indeed... The drinks and the meals certainly didn't hurt either 😉
Cheers.
Hi Tim ! Love your videos! I am nothing more than a ‘shut in’ but with you I feel I’m traveling the world . Thank you for sharing.
If you get the chance, I hope you get to do some traveling 🙂
the world needs more Tim Lee and less Joe Rogan
Guessing you don’t like joe Rogan
Who is so lame to say that? One helps the homeless and the other just eats for himself!
I disagree!!!!!
You are lame
Hello, Tim. I really enjoy your channel. Despite being a kosher vegetarian, I like watching people enjoy all kinds of food. I also like watching people making the best during travel. Be well. (I spent all day cooking for Passover: matzah ball soup, zucchini pie, eggplant casserole, charoset, tsimmes, and Passover chocolate banana cake.😊)
Fun watching you do some carb loading. Rice, noodles, roll, cookies, rice, pancakes. Not a typical buffet day. Ha, ha. Hello from Willamette Valley Oregon US.
Yeah, that was a lot of carbs.. but just so hard to resist 🙂
I enjoy your videos! You're like Mr. Roger's for grown-ups! Keep 'em coming!
Yeah he is 😊
It's a Wonderful Day in the Airport Lounge. A Wonderful Day in the Airport Lounge.
@@kisary4962 Lol 😄
Hi Tim I have a question for you about layover in hong kong I also have a up coming trip and 10 hours layover in HK do they allow you to go out if you want , or you have to stay in side and wait until the next flight and what you do all the eating in the lounges do you have to pay for it or what kind of deals is it please provides me some information thanks
its sad when i can tell by your eye bags i knew you would bring up the bar right away lol. when i got to hong kong first thing i did was get some food and copious beer then i found out they had a SMOKING BOOTH. a lot of them! i whipped out a CIGAR . went back to get more beer. went and grabbed some snacks, one more beer, bathroom break (thank you tiger beer) then less than an hour before my flight to kuala lumpur (also amazing airport but no beer!) i went to the smoke pit to have ANOTHER cigar.
Wow! So nice to shower on a long layover. Great to have the luxury of lounge perks. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I would have been stuck sitting in the public sitting area for 12 hrs.
When I went there, it was less then $100 for a shower and a nice place to sleep overnight. Not that expensive as you might think
The shower does make a difference.. that's actually quite a good deal ...🙂
@Tim Lee After a 16 hour flight on Cathay, it was perfect. I didn't want to het out, lol.
Too much ads. You created this video to promote and sell products. Food becomes secondary.
Mr Tim can ask lay over 12 hrs immigration allow to go out Thanks
You seem so pleasant and calm to be around. It's so relaxing and informative watching you. God bless
Thank you so much it was quite an enjoyable layover as far as layovers go 🙂
Hi..what camera are you using
Thank you Tim!
The airport lounges were empty and you seemed to have the place to yourself which is good too. It’s too bad you couldn’t fit staying in Hong Kong for a week or two to explore the city. You can always do it on another trip. The airport lounges are pretty upscale these days. I was at the JFK airport a decade ago to pick up one of my cousins arriving from San Francisco. And there was no such a thing as airport lounges with many food options. I guess I have not been to a airport in ten years now that you made me think about it 🤔 My other cousin came in 2017, but it was in the night time and she didn’t want me to pick her up 🙄 Oh now I see all the other people in the lounge with you, and a lot of food 😛 I see what happened as in the beginning of the video in the empty airport lounges was in the Philippines, and you arrived early for your flight to Hong Kong with the 12 hours layover. Airports have always been fun places. Now airports are super cool with so much foods 😋
Only 1st class has these perks.
@@tinytt854 That is great 👍
Only 1st class is NOT true. Every
lounge has its own entrance rules. American Express has its own lounges for AE members only, plus only platinum and higher members pay nothing. Gold and lower members have to pay a fee, like $30-50 or so. Some airlines have their own lounges for 1st class fliers or pay a fee if economy flier. Some airports have their own lounges that charge a fee for entry. Then, some lounges have contracts that enable to fliers to enter with or without a fee.
Wow!! Great great presentation, tho made me super hungry :)) Thank you for sharing ur food adventure and I shall look forward to exploring the H K airport soon (as well as Manila at some point) and all of the amenities provided. That shower was a treat to see. Always happy travels to you!
You are definitely amazingly big eater!

Thank you Brudda what a great ride that was! The world is a better place with you in it
Thank you for your kind comment, just really grateful to get to sharing connect here

God bless u always and safe travels to wearever u go. The lounges can anyone use them when they are traveling ? Baltimore MD 🙏
Awesome video Tim! Looks fantastic the buffet & restaurants offered at the airport! I´d like to know what airline was the one you traveled from Hong Kong to Vancouver and if those meals/buffets + bedroom were included in the flight tickets price (or you had to pay by yourself)? I´d appreciate if you could help me with the information. Greetings from Argentina!
Airport lounge crawls. That could be a new specialist subject for you. 'Just' need to sacrifice half a day of your trips. Tsk. LOL. Thank you for a most enjoyable video.
ps. does this mean we're not getting a video from you on Monday?
Oh am off schedule Tim alee video!
12 hours layover is suck in airport except you can enjoy nice food in HK. By the way, are all duty free stores opened in HK airport? Their wine selections are great .
