I find it interesting how they say "We think so then, and we thought so still." It's almost as if they are saying they have no sense of time. That it is unimportant to them.
For those who don't know (and haven't read the description), this is actually sampled from the beginning of a piece by Edward Lear, a nonsense poet, the piece called "Pelican Chorus" and it's quite longer than the song.
Honestly, this song just perfectly encapsulates what pelicans just… are. They strut around like they own the place, they eat anything that fits in their mouths, they’ve been here for at least 30 million years. They’d probably think highly of themselves if they were sapient.
I just have a weakness for weirdly whimsical tunes like this. Maybe it’s cause I’ve had dreams of entering a strange fantasy world and hearing melodies like this take me back to this.

Ah, but pelicans have what are known as totipalmate feet - all four toes are webbed. Most web-footed birds are only palmate, or three webbed toes with the hallux in the back. That being said, so are cormorants, gannets, boobies, anhingas, and frigatebirds...but best not tell the pelicans that.

Such an interesting take on one of Edward Lear's nonsense songs. This came up in my spotify discover weekly and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since.
Ahhh I know, right? I used to read the book The Pelican Chorus (the one with some of his poems/songs) all the time when I was little, and I just stumbled on this while listening to Cosmo's stuff, which I just discovered. It's incredible, exactly the way I would have imagined it going with music. It's like the way I used to try to sing it while reading the book, but so much better
Well... yes. That's why I'm saying that Pelican's We makes less sense, and not more sense. Both songs can have stories while my original comment still holds true. Pelican's We is just way more ambiguous than The Moss. I know that The Moss has a story (The song full of Edward Lear poems and childhood nursery rhymes, thus hinting at childhood and how those stories can be just as real to children as the facts stated in the first verse. Or, it could be taken as commentary on the loss of childhood as we age). Again, Pelican's We is just less specific. And that's what I love about This kind of music. It makes you think.
5UNNYR4Y3 Well i look a parts of the lyrics such as "We think no birds so grand/happy as we" "Opening our mouths as pelicans ought(as we're supposed to)" or "none but we have feet like fins(we are naturally better than others)" I could be far off wrong but I think this is kinda of general finger point to corrupt communism or nationalism

A song in a Disney movie where the group known as the “pelicans” dances around their court arena and is later revealed to be a villainous cult who aim to sacrifice the city to the river
It's so wholesome that you can mix such catching melody with such beautiful and classical instruments in your songs :3 Flutes and Clarinnetes are my thing, love your work.
I love how you just make music about whatever you want, because even if the song doesnt make sense, the vibe it gives off is amazing. Keep it up, you're one of my favorite musicians
This might be my favorite song of Cosmo I just think of two ship wrecked survivors making it onto a island and on it are tons of pelicans that the survivors earn the trust of and essentially live all together dancing around their camp fires and like practically building a religion based on pelicans
I’m a therian and for whatever reason Cosmo’s music makes me shift a lot longer than normal and now I’m questioning a pelican theriotype (sorry for the word vomit)
Reason number :XXXX that cosmo is great, there are two Pitches coming out of each ear during some parts, which is higher or lower, and it’s bloody fantastic
The sad thing about this is that in the original poem the daughter of the pelican queen and king goes off to marry the crane king and flies far away with him. The poems end with the line "We shall probably never meet again"

a friend recommended cosmo to me yesterday and I've been listening to his music for hours now it's sooo good.
WING TO WING WE DANCE AROUND 🗣🗣🔥🔥‼‼
Thank you for bringing musical magic back into my life.
I love this song
I kind of feel like diving into the ocean and returning to the surface with a large amount of fish in my mouth.
thats how he gets you
@@seagull9580 any personal encounters with pelicans, Mr seagull?
Why does every song cosmo makes sound like a drug trip gone wrong but it just is a bop at the same time
A song in a Disney movie where the group known as the “pelicans” dances around their court arena and is later revealed to be a villainous cult who aim to sacrifice the city to the river
gorgeous song and album, the moss, your rythme, the percussions, your voice. well done mec (y)
Thanks Cosmo, for helping people to open eyes, love your job.

I literally discovered cosmo like 7 hours ago and I’m already hooked
It's so wholesome that you can mix such catching melody with such beautiful and classical instruments in your songs :3 Flutes and Clarinnetes are my thing, love your work.
This song is amazing! My little sister can't stop hearing it!! Thank you for making this
It's official. I have to choreograph a heelwork-to-music (basically dog dance) to this song. Not an option anymore. It must be done.
I'm waiting fam

Your show tonight was amazing!
I love how you just make music about whatever you want, because even if the song doesnt make sense, the vibe it gives off is amazing. Keep it up, you're one of my favorite musicians
Is it allowed to use your music in non-monetized unlisted videos with appropriate credits in the description?
My mom says I'm ugly pinocchio !!! i love your profile ❤️💙💛
This might be my favorite song of Cosmo I just think of two ship wrecked survivors making it onto a island and on it are tons of pelicans that the survivors earn the trust of and essentially live all together dancing around their camp fires and like practically building a religion based on pelicans
Oh my god I love that concept
*laughs in writer*
@@thecinema_ lmao
Never expected a song about pelicans so sound so amazing
This guy is going to be huge. Keep making music x
A perfect song that encapsulates the joyous and silly celebratory tone of Edward Lear’s - The Pelican Chorus
All your songs would make such good animations. They have such a weird and amazing vibe.
One thing about Cosmo, behind the fantastical lyrics, he WILL drop a beat. PHEW! 🥵😮💨🔥🤌🏾✨️
I’m a therian and for whatever reason Cosmo’s music makes me shift a lot longer than normal and now I’m questioning a pelican theriotype
(sorry for the word vomit)
SAME GIRLY
No words to describe how much I love this piece! Go on! You have a great talent.
Reason number :XXXX that cosmo is great, there are two Pitches coming out of each ear during some parts, which is higher or lower, and it’s bloody fantastic
It's been 3 years and I still keep coming back at least once a month. You truly make fab music my dude.
Cosmo makes the type of music you can dance in the forest to
This song has a way of being heard once and just...resurfacing constantly in the following week
I can't stop listening to this song!!!! I WILL BURN IT INTO MY HEAD
stamp it into your brain with a flumpy sound
This is the best nursery rhyme song I've ever heard.
The sad thing about this is that in the original poem the daughter of the pelican queen and king goes off to marry the crane king and flies far away with him. The poems end with the line "We shall probably never meet again"
Man, your music is so amazing :D
Here’s the Lyrics, if anyone needs them!
King and Queen of the Pelicans we;
No other Birds so grand we see!
None but we have feet like fins!
With lovely leathery throats and chins!
Ploffskin, Pluffskin, Pelican jee!
We think no birds so happy as we!
Plumpskin, Ploshkin, Pelican jill!
We think so then, and we thought so still!
We live on the Nile. The Nile we love.
By night we sleep on the cliffs above.
By day we fish, and at eve we stand
On long bare islands of yellow sand.
And when the sun sinks slowly down
And the great rock walls grow dark and brown,
Where the purple river rolls fast and dim
And the ivory Ibis starlike skim,
Wing to wing we dance around, -
Stamping our feet with a flumpy sound, -
Opening our mouths as Pelicans ought,
And this is the song we nightly snort:
King and Queen of the Pelicans we;
No other Birds so grand we see!
None but we have feet like fins!
With lovely leathery throats and chins!
Ploffskin, Pluffskin, Pelican jee!
We think no birds so happy as we!
Plumpskin, Ploshkin, Pelican jill!
We think so then, and we thought so still!
