It sounds like the trailer to some movie where a group of friends arrive to a town that seems friendly at first...until they try to leave. I can totally imagine the chorus being shots of the group dancing and having fun mixed with shots of them running and being attacked
Mmmm... I can see that... the lighting is sort of dim, close up shots on their drinks, dancing on tables... then, the screen is lit with explosion, as the village folk try to bomb them... they run, but the door is locked... Fun concept, I like it. :)
this song reminds me of dancing in the woods with ancient gods, twirling around a bonfire with nymphs and wandering through the woods with the fae creature. so strangely familiar, yet beautifully foreign.

one of my favorite things about this song is the almost always overlooked reference to a poem called "The Jabberwocky" by lewis carrol which was insane in wording(quite literally called a nonsense poem). @@peepeeman8648 Ah yeah! I think it was: "Or how the Jumblies went to sea in a sieve that they rowed, And came to shore by the Chankly Bore where the Bong-trees grow. Where the Jabberwocky’s small green tentacles do flow, And the Quangle Wangle plays in the rain and the snow." The Moss was the first song I found from Cosmo Sheldrake, and later I found a few others including this one. It's certainly a unique style!
This song is amazing and perfect for people with ADHD! Great rhythmn, nice lyrics and a good speed. I find it calming and energetic at the same time. I just discovered Cosmo Sheldrake today and this music is amazing!
Oh, I noticed it too. I have ADHD, and music is a great way to block out distracting stimuli and get at least some concentration. However, I found that songs with lyrics don't work for me quite well, so I only use music from pragmaticNihilist and Jake Chudnow. I guess I should search for the instrumental of this song? I hope Cosmo released it somewhere.
Honestly? Not adhd but as an autistic i find his music super stimmy and with a lot of background sounds and beats that makes my brain feel full and i never get bored of the songs!
some people have asked about the instrumentation in the track, here is it - bass clarinet, clarinet, double bass, keyboards, trombone, trumpet, duduk, percussion, beer bottles, vacuum cleaner, oboe , bass saxophone, flute, bass trombone
This song to me, feels like it was sung by a charismatic evil spirit - beckoning and persuading you to abandon everything you've ever lived for to come enter its lair. A mysterious, cold cave located deep in the forest covered in moss and roots. Ancient paintings and symbols, lines of torches and bioluminescent plants decorating the interior of the lair. Once you enter, you never come back.
For me its like a bunch of little kids ranging from 12 to 8 and a leader whos recruiting the others, and walking them through a woods, they ran away from their parents and made a little campsite where they have spies who bring them food from their parent's leftovers
To me, this song feels like some sort of character trying to motivate and soothe the lost during nuclear war. Especially with "we'll rise when the birds sing" and "shut your ears when sirens sing". And them trying to get them to safety, "Get to where the two ends meet" could be the difference in war zone and a safe zone. Just my interpration.
It seems to me like it’s a group of forest spirits or fae trying to snatch you away but promising fun and happiness with no boredom but in reality it’s actually a trap
Rising when the birds sing is representative of getting up at Dawn. Sirens are mythical creatures tempting sailors into the water with song. i.e. Don't listen to the haters
No more like a you stumble upon a troll village but they seem nice at first but eventually once you get comfortable they stab you in the back and like throw you into a portal and you are in a faraway land with dragons and death and stuff or is that just me
Yes! Like you befriend a witch or a mage and they help you escape your broken abusive home only to use you for an evil act like a sacrifice. It’s like this song is them convincing you to run away from your home with them
This music always makes me feel like the main character of my own fairytale. It’s so full of whimsy and the meaning no longer matters. It’s just fun and fantastical! And the Wonderland References make this vibe a Thousand times stronger!
This song reminds me of the sort of thing you'd hear if you wandered deep into a forest near the end of winter and stumbled upon the forest folk dancing in the afternoon sunlight between the trees. Especially during these parts: 1:18 to 1:38
First comment about the song and not what fucking brought the commenter here. Kudos to you for that, and I had the exact same kind of feel from it; it feels like this guy made the song as a theme for his DnD group.
There is an SCP for this (would recommend visiting the site if you want some good reads), it's called SCP-4000 and its literally a forest where you can't name any living creature/location else you'd grow trees on your body.
i freaking love this song. its the conclusion I always end up with when i fall into a nihilistic doom spiral. Live in the spirit of Dionysus, drink and make merry, bask in all earthly delights and company, wander around without a goal and stumble upon adventures. Nothing matters! isn't that great!
Food, love, and dancing. Isn't it a beautiful way to live? I've never been happier since I realized that life has so much meaning in the little earthly things. Every day I wake up grateful to be alive. Much love to you!
That's a pretty awesome image, to be honest. I keep imagining it more as a sort of Shakesperian fae thing, but that could just be because I'm studying a Midsummer Night's Dream right now.
I imagine a friendly demon taking sorrow stricken children (abused children, orphans, parents that are drunken or never home, ect) to a place where they can be free and happy.
tofu kid dot tell me you don’t want to read somthing that has the childlike wonder of Peter Pan with the dark undertones of Alice in wonderland, or even better, a version where pan keeps kidnapping children and drugging them to make them believe that where they are is actually a magical land, and at the end the mirage is lifted when he is arrested and the victims now have to adapt to normal life, and myna even are killed before he can be arrested and he odds himself to escape
This song is like a mix of Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Christopher Robin and a bunch of fish Edit: According to y’all, I could also say Willy Wonka, Finding Nemo, Where the Wild Things Are, Fae, Wiccans, Over the Garden Wall, and The Cruel Prince. Whoa, y’all can think. I’m dumb.

My friends ask me what genre of music I like, we spent a good week debating what kind of music this is and we’re now covered in war paint and battle scars
this song is brilliant in a way that sneaks up on you--the melody is reminiscent of a childhood none of us actually had, but which puts at ease and in a state of wonder and curiosity, then he sneaks in with the lyrics which at once disorient and illuminate. Love it!
its okay if you didnt know (i didnt either until someone told me) but goblin originated as an antisemetic charicature, so i really dont reccomend using that term. instead you could call it: gremlincore, forestcore, dark cottagecore, green academia, faecore, corvidcore, or cryptidcore. not using the word goblin helps push back against antisemitism. im not asking you to completely give up the gremlincore aesthetic (the aesthetic itself is really nice i love it a lot) but rather to use terms that arent offensive. thank you! /lh /nm /g (edit: i just realised that your comment was a year old, but just in case im sorrybsjbhfj)

At 1:56, has anyone else noticed the very slight vocal/instrumental desync? It gets less and less prominent as the section goes on, and, coincidentally, it's the section that talks about time. Some may think this is a mistake but I highly doubt it. To me it seems an intentional and genius move by the artist.
I completely agree! When I listen to this song I feel like it is introducing me to a chaos that is terrifying only because it is unfamiliar, and is actually better in the long run
This reminds me of lord of the flies. A book about boys that crash on a desert island, and slowly turn from civilized to savagery. It’s amazing. Highly recommend if you want to feel like you’re on an endless high. Read with this song playing 😭
Finally someone else who thought so too 😭 I could picture the books events really clearly while listening like the pig dance and the feast, and jack leading the other boys away from Ralph’s tribe

Most of them are. They’re from an illustration book of fish from Maluku, Indonesia, published by Louis Renard in the mid 1700s. He exaggerated a lot of the colors for artistic effect, but I recognize a bunch of these fish from swimming around reefs in the area. Actually the only reason I found this song in the first place was cuz I saw the thumbnail and was like, “oooh, the Renard fish!”
It fascinates me that all the references to classic literature, children's stories, fairytales and nursery rhymes, blend so seamless to create a wonderous enchantment in a forlorn world, the likes of which I haven't feel since reading Terry Pratchett's "Lords and Ladies" when I was young. Heffalump is from Winnie The Pooh (at least, as far as I know), Borogroves and Silthy Troves are both from Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky, the reference to "the pigsty" is a classic in both Hans Christian Andersen's and Brothers Grimm's fairytales, and the entire thing is wrapped in the energy of woodland spirits who lure kids away from home. This is magnificent. My comparison to "lords and Ladies" comes from the fact that in the story the elves are described as instilling wonder in people, making them do as they're bid, when in reality the elves are terrible creatures, but noone sees that except for the few who see the world as it really is.
I just found this artist thanks to the all powerful algorithm. I've had RUclips premium for less than a week and already RUclips music showed me Cosmo and I love it. There's such a distinct style, it's intense but somehow calming and almost tribal at times but still modern and fun.
Lyrics - Come along catch a Heffalump, Sit with me on a muddy clump, We’ll sing a song of days gone by. Run along now don’t be glum, Get you gone now have some fun, Don’t be long for the end is nigh. Don’t let moments pass along and waste before your eyes, March with me and the borogoves, Come with me and the slithy toves, And never ask us why. Come come come come come along now, Run away from the hum-drum, We’ll go to a place that is safe from greed, anger and boredom. We’ll dance and sing till sundown, and feast with abandon, We’ll sleep when the morning comes, and we’ll rise by the sound of the birdsongs. We’ll be here when the world slows down, and the sunbeams fade away, Keeping time by a pendulum as the fabric starts to fray. There’s no such thing as time to kill, nor time to throw away, So once for the bright sky, Twice for the pig sty, Thrice for another day. Come come come come come along now, Run away from the hum-drum, We’ll go to a place that is safe from, Greed anger and boredom. We’ll dance and sing till sundown, And feast with abandon, We’ll sleep when the morning comes, And we’ll rise by the sound of the birdsongs. Come with me catch a rare type specimen, Cuddle up with a hesitant skeleton, We’ll break our fast with friends. Once we’re fed we shall disappear rapidly, Many moons to the west of here and happily, Our journey never ends. Shut your ears when sirens sing, Tie armbands to your feet, Listen up and you won’t go wrong again, Float along on a verse-less song and then, Get to where the two ends meet. Come come come come come along now, Run away from the hum-drum, We’ll go to a place that is safe from, greed anger and boredom. We’ll dance and sing till sundown, and feast with abandon, We’ll sleep when the morning comes, and we’ll rise by the sound of the birdsongs.
I'm just imagining this being sung by some kind of eccentric inventor or explorer, like a Willy Wonka or Captain Nemo type, who as the story goes on turns out to be a villain. I'm probably gonna write that.
Thats my idea too, a villan named Ventrilo who lures his prey by being friendly and innocent, then gets them to put on a mask which possess them to be his slave for taking over the world until it either breaks or he takes it off. I also have one for cosmo's "the moss"
Heffalump is Winnie the Pooh and Slithy Toves from Jabberwocky. The children’s literature references definitely sealed the deal for me when I heard the song. It’s so mesmerizing.
i'm really digging this style of music that's like a fae is trying to coax me into the forest to get lost in all the wonder and nature and eventually drain my lifeforce out or whatever it is fae do to those they snare with their charming tunes
Whilst listening to this song a whole movie scene played in my head, even if I can't quite understand which movie it is. It gives me, for some reason, some Aladdin vibes (and after reading the comments even some Alice In Wonderland vibes), though I can't quite put my finger on it. I imagine two characters, a girl and a boy, dancing around in a fair or a circus, whilst running away from someone for some sort of prank they did. I imagine them running in a big crow of people celebrating, all dressed in vibrant colors, under sparkling lights and fireworks, with a band playing as the two of them run and laugh around and between the members. This put me in a really good mood. Adventure "themed" music always makes me feel energized and inspired, ready to do anything. So thank you, sir. I think I'll be listening to your music for a while. I'm glad I found you, kind sir. Greetings ~A (most likely) new fan
Backstory boy and girl escvaping from modern civilization to make thwir own land So the scene is a boy and girl running from people ln the roofrops then when the fast part comes they jump off a roof and then the song slows down with the duo and they jump in slo mo then it speeds up and they land they drop onto the ground and steal a motorbike (fast part) then when they reach the forest the song slows down again and they find a massive cave with a portal at the end they go in song ends

And came to shore by the Chankly Bore where the Bong-trees grow.
Where the Jabberwocky’s small green tentacles do flow,
And the Quangle Wangle plays in the rain and the snow."
The Moss was the first song I found from Cosmo Sheldrake, and later I found a few others including this one. It's certainly a unique style!
I never read the jabberwocky so I thought you were talking about the live action Alice in wonderland 💀

Thot Destroyer 9000 omg yes
I might say Club Penguin Underwater Cave with a straight face, but that place had no music
that is oddly....... specific
So like actual fae?
Sirens could also relate to the mythical creature that hypnotizes you with its song
Rising when the birds sing is representative of getting up at Dawn. Sirens are mythical creatures tempting sailors into the water with song. i.e. Don't listen to the haters

can this be considered 2020's anthem?
@@lillemoncandy1590 yes pleASE!
Yea it’s the anthem
Is it just me or does this song almost have like a sinister undertone?
I rather thought so too.
No more like a you stumble upon a troll village but they seem nice at first but eventually once you get comfortable they stab you in the back and like throw you into a portal and you are in a faraway land with dragons and death and stuff or is that just me
That or mystical. Similar to some mage in a large forest who hunts food with a bow or something like that.
It’s because it’s some fae shit
Feels like my internal dialogue.
This song reminds me of the sort of thing you'd hear if you wandered deep into a forest near the end of winter and stumbled upon the forest folk dancing in the afternoon sunlight between the trees. Especially during these parts: 1:18 to 1:38
Oddly specific but I couldn't agree more.

I imagine the god of wine Dionysus singing this to a fairy he love and tries to persuade her to come to a never ending celebration
That's a pretty awesome image, to be honest.
I keep imagining it more as a sort of Shakesperian fae thing, but that could just be because I'm studying a Midsummer Night's Dream right now.
I love your imagination
For me it’s basically the same thing, but slightly more “unseelie” fairy in the place of Dionysus, and a human girl
I see that too! Or I was thinking Poseidon with a siren maybe 😳
I imagine a friendly demon taking sorrow stricken children (abused children, orphans, parents that are drunken or never home, ect) to a place where they can be free and happy.

We'll sing a song of days gone by
Run along now, don't be glum
Get you gone, now, have some fun
Don't be long, for the end is nigh

Come with me and the slithy toves
And never ask us why
Come, come, come, come, come along now

Greed, anger and boredom
We'll dance and sing 'til sundown
And feast with abandon
We'll sleep when the morning comes
And we'll rise by the sound of the birdsongs
We'll be here when the world slows down
And the sunbeams fade away
Keeping time by a pendulum
As the fabric starts to fray
There's no such thing as time to kill
Nor time to throw away
So, once for the bright sky, twice for the pig sty
Thrice for another day
Come, come, come, come, come along now
Run away from the hum-drum
We'll go to a place that is safe from

We'll dance and sing 'til sundown
And feast with abandon
We'll sleep when the morning comes
And we'll rise by the sound of the birdsongs
Come with me, catch a rare type specimen
Cuddle up with a hesitant skeleton
We'll break our fast with friends
Once we're fed, we shall disappear rapidly
Many moons to the west of here and happily
Our journey never ends
Shut your ears when sirens sing
Tie armbands to your feet
Listen up and you won't go wrong again
Float along on a verse-less song and then
Get to where the two ends meet

He hearted my comment of the Moss being the Goblincore anthem
its okay if you didnt know (i didnt either until someone told me) but goblin originated as an antisemetic charicature, so i really dont reccomend using that term. instead you could call it: gremlincore, forestcore, dark cottagecore, green academia, faecore, corvidcore, or cryptidcore. not using the word goblin helps push back against antisemitism. im not asking you to completely give up the gremlincore aesthetic (the aesthetic itself is really nice i love it a lot) but rather to use terms that arent offensive. thank you! /lh /nm /g (edit: i just realised that your comment was a year old, but just in case im sorrybsjbhfj)
