    That's her voice. Though she has a lot of variety and basically can do anything with her pipes. The rasp is natural. She is just phenomenal in that she is a phenomenon to behold.

      I don’t think she was suggesting electronic effects, but rather whether Haley is putting on a voice for the style, which she is at times.
      I assume Haley’s natural singing voice is found in “can’t help falling in love.”
      With that said, her classical voice styling is probably my favorite sound in singing.

      this is the interpretation of the song - isn't it also the arrangement? Probably PMJ works with the singer to get these results. But yes this is how we know her voice.

      @@mannygee005 In this particular instance, Haley had been singing the song in this manner before the collab with PMJ. They heard her version, and created instrumentation around it.

    Haley is the real deal. She does play a lot with her sound, as any good jazz signer does. It's natural in the sense that she seems to use it without thinking. It just fits perfectly with PMJ sound.

      Well... its intentional. Yes, after singing for years, a lot of it "comes naturally" but thats the result of over a decade of focused training of her natural talent.
      She is basically a professional voice coach who has natural ability so when she plans a song... much like a choreographer planning a dance.... she designs the entire song for its effect and uses her voice just as any musician would use their instrument.
      She is phenomenal.

      Angelina Jordan is of a newer generation, yet is the best current jazz singer. And, I love Haley - and Yebba, as well.

    • @supertuscans9512
      @supertuscans9512 10 месяцев назад +7

      No two ways about it Jordan is more than accomplished singer but she cannot do what Reinhardt does. There is a fascinating performance of Reinhardt performing with Jeff Goodbloom and tge Mildred Snitzer Orchestra and with the best will in the world Jordan couldn’t pull off a performance like that with any credibility even if her life depended on it.
      I have to confess to a little bias because if I’m honest while I recognise that Jordan is an extremely talented vocalist, I just don’t like her voice. This is obviously a subjective point of view and it’s’ different folks for different folks but even objectively Jordon lacks the colour palette and the growl that Reinhardt brings to the party.

    • @GregPourciau
      @GregPourciau 10 месяцев назад

      @@supertuscans9512 We can also tell you haven't listen to all of Angelina's covers or original songs cause I'm very sure she can sing any style of music but like Haley both are great jazz singers ,I love both ladies as to which is better I couldn't say it's a mater of preference . And remember Angelina's only 17 her voice is still not fully developed.

      I hear what you say and I can see that Jordan is a gifted vocalist but I can’t listen to much of her music because for me her voice induces a similar effect to fingers nails running down a blackboard. Great in depth reaction.
    Haley is from Chicago. Her parents had a rock band for over 40 years, where Haley got her feet wet from a young age.
    Her dad was her scatting teacher from a very young age. She’s self taught in yodeling and was already a lead jazz singer in her high school jazz band.
    Haley is just as versatile singing jazz, blues, rock and anything in between.
    Her favourite musical group are The Beatles.
    The sound you reacted to is her natural speaking voice.
    To appreciate Haley’s true raw vocal, please search for Haley with her dad on guitar at Chess Records in Chicago. Her rendition of Can’t Find My Way Home and an original song Don’t Know How To Love You, are masterful.

  • @bertjones3010
    @bertjones3010 10 месяцев назад +7

    Just to add to the legacy of Haley, looking back on her time on American Idol, she was on two consecutive seasons, though she was didn't make it on the first time, and even though she placed well the second season, a couple of the judges were brutal on her. Still, she had some firsts on the show. Sang LeAnn Rhimes Blue, did a jazz duet with Casey Abrams, doing the first scatting on Idol, and having her dad play lead guitar on one of her performances. (She also fell during that performance!) While she got a boost from PMJ, she gave a boost to PMJ, and still is arguably the most popular vocalists ever to perform with them. While she has remained an independent artist, she does have a platinum release of an Elvis song, been a voice actor on a Bill Burr Netflix series been in a couple movies (one to be released on Dec 1 of this year) and has four albums covering different genres, plus been a guest artist with a few jazz bands. I guess I should have told you to go look at her wiki.
    Finally, there are singers, vocalists and vocalist with a tonal quality to touch the soul of your ears. Like for me, Floor Jansen is a vocal master of her instrument, and while I refuse to compare the technical merits of their mastery, Haley just has a tone that I find most pleasing. Both I love but if stuck on an island with access to just one's voice it would be Haley.

    It's a shame you don't do streams so you can talk much more about such fabulous work as PMJ's and Haley's. It would be great to know many more details that I'm sure you've been able to notice throughout the times you've watched this video. Anyway, once again I reiterate that for me, your analysis are the best, so regardless of the surprises you may have in knowing different artists, any video of yours is very well received.
    By the way, in the live Franck the talked about The Warning, a band of three Mexican sisters of great quality. It would be interesting if you brought them to the channel, although you know that my favorite from that country is Juan Gabriel, and I would recommend the song Amor Eterno (if you do, don't forget to have the translation of the lyrics handy).
    A big hug, I look forward to your next video.

    You could sure give the other reactor MAGGIE RENEE, quite a few pointers on how to dissect a song INTELLIGENTLY! She claims to be an Opera singer, and went to Julliard; Which i do question.

    This is Haley's voice. This is a one take performance, no edits. She is amazing with PMJ, or just singing straight Jazz. She came 3rd on American Idol. She is from Wheeling, Illinois; and has the accent to prove it. Take water and snacks, this is a deep wabbit hole...Another PMJ, and solo singer to check out is Morgan James. Morgan is a Julliard trained opera singer, who sings blue eyed soul, and everything else, like crazy.
    Another cool Jazz voice is Rachel Price from the band "Lake Street Dive." She has a very cool groove.

    "I'm curious to know what her accent is. I'm not sure where she's from."
    Haley counts Chicago as her hometown, but now resides in Los Angeles. She had a pronounced accent when she first appeared on American Idol, but is very polished when speaking now.
    Internet:
    The Chicago accent is famous for swapping out “th” with “d” (as in, “da Bears”). But a researcher told WBEZ Chicagoans also tend to elongate their vowels, transforming a word like “bat” into “b-eat-t,” and pronounce some “o” sounds like “a” - thus, Bob sounds like “Bahhhb.”

      @@canopener6218 In this video from a performance at Hotel Cafe, Haley explains Mark Ballas and Dylan Chambers were poking fun at her accent: ruclips.net/video/pONoDTVenrE/видео.html
      ----
      Haley on being cast in "F is for Family:"
      "That (Peanuts) audition was floating around and these guys heard it. I guess the fact that they were looking for someone from big cities and I have sort of a Chicago slang a bit, it came off in a good way for them ... and it was supposed to take place in Chicago in the 70s."
      ----
      Idol: Haley approaching judges to see if she has made the live shows:
      "Hi guys. Hello again. How are ya-s?"
      "In Chicago, instead of simply saying 'you' to refer to a group, you often year people saying 'yous'."

    Please react to her cover of “I put a spell on you” live !!!! She has such amazing musicality and musical intuition. Can switch from growls, to clear belts instantly and not forced. One of the best singers out today, but unfortunately chooses to remain an independent artist so she isn’t very well known. Her live performances are the best, but her studio recording aren’t great (not sure why, but she only sounds good live 😅)

    You should check out her own RUclips channel to listen to her own music, she has made several albums on her own. My favorites are “Shook”, “Lay it Down”, and “Deep Water” off of her Lo-Fi Soul album. Her cover of Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling in Love” is spectacular and was picked up by Extra Gum for one of their ad campaigns. She also does a great cover with another PMJ Alum Morgan James when they sing Dear Prudence with just Morgan’s husband playing acoustic guitar (it’s on Morgan’s RUclips channel)

    There are so many that get recommended for these reaction videos.
    But dig deep and you will find the most incredible cover of Prince's Purple Rain( and I think everyone knows how Prince feels about covers of his music).
    There is also an audition video of a 15 year old Sarah Baran,not 100% sure on that name, who was going to do the Creep video originally. Also fantastic.

      PMJ was on its first European tour, On a day off, they recorded "Creep" with Haley and a couple of other songs including "All About That Base." Haley wasn't ill, but expressed she thought she might need vocal rest since they were still on tour. Scott Bradlee believed they could nail it on a single try, so she agreed to give it a go. This was a good call. Haley's "Creep" with PMJ is the channel's most-viewed video and the group version of AATB they recorded is the second-most viewed video.
