Lmao, watching you struggle, knowing you need to pause it at some point, but you just can't stop, it's too good. until finally you hit the spacebar, but you do it with such disgust at the action, reeling your hand back afterwards like it was a hot stove. like you just had to force yourself to just get it over with... I imagine that's what addicts feel when trying to break free of their afflictions. Such a fascinating exposure of the mind in just over the course of the first two minutes.
12 days ago. So a very small part of me would comment something along the lines of "You took your sweet time" but that is exactly one of the most desirable aspects of this exceptional performance - nobody seems to feel a need to rush, it's OK to linger in the moments of pleasure. And it is lovely to have someone new share in an established treasure. I'm a poor singer so when people have excellent control at the top of their range I understand the respect it engenders. I would add that using the timings of your video around 12:17 Haley comes off a high run and lands on a note towards the bottom of her register. Holding a low note stably when most people would simply have no air left to sing impresses me at least as much as the high belts. The low notes are deceptively demanding of breath control.
Nice commentary. I love to be away from all distractions when hearing this version of creep. The hair on the back of your arms suddenly gets to exercise, remind you they are there and stand tall!
Your reaction with it's in depth explanation that is still accessible to non experts, together with your added on screen text paired with the song moments, as well as your enthusiasm for both the music and explaining technique, make you now possibly my favorite music reactor (and I've seen a lot). Thank you for this excellent reaction. Good luck to you, and I'm looking forward to more!
I am sooooo enjoying your way of breaking down the details of the performance. I am a retired speech pathologist, so I love hearing about the connection between articulation and how the singer's sounds are perceived.
I'm sooooo looking forward to this! I know how it's gonna go down cuz your face in the thumbnail says it all, and, well, because it's Haley, but damn, do I want to hear what you have to say about this performance. She was feeling under the weather and still nailed it.
I've heard the song before but it wasn't a favorite. If it came on the radio, I din't cjange the channel or lower the volume. I'm a fan of PMJ and I knew PMJ did a cover, but never watched it, so this is my first time watching and hearing their version. With that said, I don't know if this is an odd description, but it's what I was actually thinking as it sent shivers down my spine. It was hauntingly beautiful. I will definitely be listening to this again.
The man "tickling the ivories" is Scott Bradlee. He is the genius behind the whole "Post Modern Jukebox" idea. He is the one who did the arrangement for the song that Hayley sang. The original song by Radiohead is much different from th8s version.
It's a shame you don't do streams so you can talk much more about such fabulous work as PMJ's and Haley's. It would be great to know many more details that I'm sure you've been able to notice throughout the times you've watched this video. Anyway, once again I reiterate that for me, your analysis are the best, so regardless of the surprises you may have in knowing different artists, any video of yours is very well received. By the way, in the live Franck the talked about The Warning, a band of three Mexican sisters of great quality. It would be interesting if you brought them to the channel, although you know that my favorite from that country is Juan Gabriel, and I would recommend the song Amor Eterno (if you do, don't forget to have the translation of the lyrics handy). A big hug, I look forward to your next video.
Oh man, was fun to see you almost "fangirling" at around 11:30, not meant in a negative way at all it was so wholesome hahah. Thanks for making us all just that little bit smarter (and in a better mood than before clicking), every time.
It's one of those performances that also brings a tear to my eye, wholly because it is just so good overall. Singing, movement, music, atmosphere/style are perfect. Absolutely outstanding.
I never cared for what others said about the performance. I sing and I felt it was great. The breath control by itself…..but hearing a trained opera singer be impressed? That tells me all I need.
One of the best from PMJ is "All about that Bass" in which Reinhart is a third. Fantastic performance from all 3 ladies. Definitely worth a lesson for the vocals AND the instrumentals!
Yep, She's that good. Saw Her and Morgan James up in NYC and after picking up my jaw off the floor...I realized This is special. I'm in awe of what the group of players of PMJ can do. And this is really saying something because I've played behind many great Musical Theater singers back in my hectic rush rush rush pit orchestra career. Very good through analysis from you too. Picking up nuances and greatness is sometimes not the easiest thing to do. There's just so much going on with many moving parts. ..Well you know.....*cheers*
It"s nice to see you enjoy one of these (as you did Morgan James/Dream On). Other Haley/PMJ collaborations that you may enjoy are Don't Speak and Seven Nation Army. One of my favorites is Habits. Thanks for you insights.
I only wish I had your command of words to describe the wonderful music and vocals I just heard. I rarely see people feel music as I do .Thank you I enjoyed your. reaction
That's Haley, If she were born 90 years ago we would still be talking about her legend. Biggest vocal tool kit out there. So many to hear. Master class in vocal techniques. Haley and PMJ; Lovefool, Blackhole sun, Seven Nation Army, Don't Speak, Her Live is the same, Crazy as it is. Her with Jeff Goldbloom and his group My Baby don't Care, Her original "I Don't know how to Love You" Is either a rock blues 60's version official video live at the radio station pure blues, or with the Impossible Project recording live to vinyl with a full Orchestra all versions are amazing. Oh ya, she can scat. 1 thing for sure, Oh, this is the 1 take mic drop while slightly ill video. Scott Bradlee, force behind PMJ, when Haley asked if they should do it again laughed and said nope! Great breakdown, loved the geek out.
Thanks so much for your deep dive into Haley! She's one of my favorite PMJ vocalists. I'd love to see you react to more of her and PMJ. Either way, you won't be disappointed! :)
Haley is from Chicago. Both of her parents were in a band, and she hung out, traveled & sang with them from a young age. Yeah, Haley can bring out that rasp whenever she wants.😮 😏♥️🎙😎🤘Haley has her own U Tube channel & there is a fan channel called Haleys Tusk, which has a ton of live video of her from clubs all over the country. Here's a Haley original called " I Don't Know how to love you, " ❤ well worth a listen !
Been bugging you for a year or two to react to Haley's Creep. :) Felt certain that you would LOVE it. And what a fantastic and wonderfully detailed analysis! Best Haley reaction yet! Her versions of ''Oops I Did it Again'' and ''Habits'' are brilliant. And her performance with Jeff Goldblum's jazz group is fun - ''My Baby Just Cares for Me''
It is her. Try her version of "Lay it Down". a black and white version of just her and an organ player. She is very versatile but she really likes to jazz it up. Her covers with PMJ of "Black Hole Sun" or "Habits" is excellent. Good job picking her performance apart. I was surprised that you hadn't heard her before.
She has all the tricks, and transitions between them effortlessly. I love her different runs on the word "runs". And all singers and producers react the same way to her scatting. Love it
PMJ was on a European tour doing eight shows a week. When they managed to squeeze in a day off they did this video and two others (including "All About That Bass with Morgan James and Ariana Savalas). This wasn't even Haley's song in the show but she liked it and had been working on it on her own and Scott agreed to give it a shot at the end of the recording. Haley wasn't happy with it and wanted to redo it but Scott convinced her this one was what she was looking for and she relented.
Morgan James performing Dream on is another quality MV from PMJ. My favorite is All about the Bass with Haley, Morgan and an European singer. Great re arrangement.

She is from Illinois. Her mom sings, her dad plays guitar. She has one of the most stylized voices ever. Lots of jazz and blues influences.
Amazing. Sounds like she went through a singing techniques glossary and used it as a checklist. She was doing so many things, it was incredible.
That’s one of those songs you never want to end. She’s amazing and it’s just a perfect recording if one exists.
I am sooooo enjoying your way of breaking down the details of the performance. I am a retired speech pathologist, so I love hearing about the connection between articulation and how the singer's sounds are perceived.
Oh, interesting! I’m sure your thoughts on performances and articulation would be particularly interesting!
Wow, I can't wait
Haley Reinhardt is an absolute master. Every nuance of this performance is a deliberate choice.
I saw her on American Idol, and I was shocked she didn't win!!!
I've been waiting for you to find Haley for almost two years! You didn't disappoint! Love your reactions.
Haley control every vocal color at you ever effortlessy and tastefully. There's a reason why this has 120 million views, because Haley is special
The man "tickling the ivories" is Scott Bradlee. He is the genius behind the whole "Post Modern Jukebox" idea. He is the one who did the arrangement for the song that Hayley sang. The original song by Radiohead is much different from th8s version.
People, don’t be afraid to say what you’re thinking.
This performance (singing + band + movements) is a top ten artistic performance of all time. ❤
She was on American Idol like a decade ago and blew me away on that show. So glad to see she's continuing!
It brings you to tears. I can imagine myself in a dark smoky jazz club just entranced by her.
12:40
I love seeing people wince a bit before they realize the band catches up with her intentional key change.
Yep, that’s her voice. Stunning. Haley has her own alphabet consisting of 26 vowels 😎
That face melting @0:49 ! I had the same the fisrt time I heard her...
I rarely see people feel music as I do .Thank you I enjoyed your. reaction
She can latterly do anything vocally, and so impressive. The part where she sings "running out again"... the end of "again" is just incredible.
This was the performance that introduced me to her as well. She's incredible. Vocal gymnast.
Haley is from Chicago. Both of her parents were in a band, and she hung out, traveled & sang with them from a young age. Yeah, Haley can bring out that rasp whenever she wants.😮
😏♥️🎙😎🤘Haley has her own U Tube channel & there is a fan channel called Haleys Tusk, which has a ton of live video of her from clubs all over the country.
And her performance with Jeff Goldblum's jazz group is fun - ''My Baby Just Cares for Me''
Thank you for the best reaction to an incredible artist. It’s obvious that you get her.
Fun and insightful reaction. You have a great smile. I didn't read all the comments but just in case you should know this was done in 1 take.
Love it
She is a human masterclass on vocal effects.
You are fantastic. I smile every time I watch your react. Paece and Love to You and to Yours.
Oooooooooooo my favorite female vocalist bar none! Cannot believe two of my favorite reactors came out with this one just today!
Just today?? Who is the other reactor? I gotta check them out!! That's make a million!! (joke)
@@AudioVile Black Pegasus - and it was brought to his attention by Anthony Ray who is visiting him from Belgium so it's a 2fer lol 😉 They were both swooning!
@@pamala2112 Thank you! I have watched a BUNCH of his 'visiting reactor' reactions to Ren. Now I'll go check this out! Thanks so much!!!
@@pamala2112 And it's with Anthony Ray... who I also started listening to for his hip-hop / Ren reactions. He also does great a cappella group reactions. What a combination of reactors! Thanks again!
@@AudioVile I was soooo happy for Ren when he hit #1 on the UK billboard. I just watched another great Ren interview today as well. He is gobsmackingly intelligent, sweet, and funny! I have to be very careful in public now because all of a sudden I will just sing out the word "Murderer!" Never had this phenomenon from any song before in my life. ☺
I highly recommend the cover of this same song by Paulina Villarreal, drummer of the band The Warning, without post production, without arrangements, just a voice and an old piano, it is one of the most incredible versions I have ever heard.
Haley’s version was done in one continuous pass, one take, no post production, no autotune.
@@JeffTokayer i don´t say other thing, but, she has post production, and more musicians who help her, and professional equipement, Paulina made it, only in few hours and only with her cellphone.
@@Jason_Gomez No post production. Postmodern Jukebox record all their videos live, in one pass. No editing, no autotune.
Aside from a better mic, there’s no difference.
Also, on the same day , Haley sang lead in one more video and backup in another.
Check out HaleysTusk RUclips channel for a thousand of Haley Reinhart live performances on stage. All performances are live and unique.
@@JeffTokayer All professional videos have post-production, filters to eliminate parasitic sounds and overpowering the microphone, as well as room echo, voice and instrument panning, and this video has them, there is nothing bad or extraordinary about it, every professional does it. At no point did I say it had autotune.
@@JeffTokayer She has very good live performances like Haley Reinhart "Creep" With Dave Damiani's No Vacancy Orchestra, but thi one, is not live.
I've watched soooo many reactions to her lately, and your explanation and style of reaction was so pleasing and informative. Definitely earned a sub.
Absolutely one of the top 2 or 3 performances I've seen on YT and probably my favorite to watch people react to. I didn't realize that you hadn't reacted to this one yet and was very excited when I saw it scheduled. Awesome job as always!!
Although Haley was beyond beyond beyond amazing in this song, the arrangement and accompaniment of those behind her made this the complete package. 😊 Great reaction! Loved that your faced scrunched up from the intensity of each section.
LOVED your reaction/analysis.
Haley is something else.
I love her in the video of the gum commercial singing _I Can't Help Falling In Love._
She also does a rendition of Seven Nation Army with Post Modern Jukebox. It’s fabulous, too.
The arrangement sets such an amazing foundation for her phenomenal rendition of this song.
I've loved Haley since her time in American Idol... still mad she didn't win. This is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best song covers out there. Right next to Johnny Cash's Version of "Hurt" and Disturbed's version of "Sound of Silence" Haley has done 3-4 more songs with Post Modern Jukebox and all are worthy of reviewing. "Seven Nation Army" is right up there for me as well
She stole the voice I always wish I had. Through and through the most full of depth and gradient sound I ever heard.
Wow - thanks for explaining the mystery of why this song is so frisson inducing!! Very fascinating. Reminded me of my classical piano lessons way back 35 years ago. hahaha.
Fun fact: the PMJ video has captions. Go watch it with captions on and you will wholeheartedly agree with what it has to say about her scatting.
Really enjoyed your reaction. You really show how the music and arrangement make you feel. Thank you.
I appreciate that, glad you enjoyed it 🤗
I have also watched several reaction videos to this song - and this was the best and most informative. Thanks.
Please do haley reinhardt post modern juke box seven nation army it will blow your mind
Kathy here - just found your channel and glad I did. I LOVE Haley Reinhart. She has an amazing voice. she was on American Idol - didn't win - but she should have in my opinion. You should check out some of her songs from on there. But if you like the song Creep - you need to check out Brian Justin Crum's version from American's Got Talent. The entire audience was totally silent for about 4 to 5 seconds after he was finished! They were so stunned as his version. And yes, this is her voice. Again, listen to her performances on American Idol. No matter what she sings, it is always amazing! And yes, the way she uses her diction on the delivery is her "style".
Been in love with Hailey for years. Thats her voice. She is literally Jessica Rabbit in the flesh.
This is the only song of hers I know but she has the best voice I have ever heard in my life.
Haley is fenomenal! Thanks for a great analysis.
Opera singers give the best in depth analysis and reactions. Between you and Elizabeth Zarhoff I really enjoyed your reactions to Haleys vocal gymnastics!!
If you want a real wild one- Ella Fitzgerald meets Billie Holliday meets Jessica Rabbit....Haley/PMJ doing 7 Nation Army. Woah...
I have been waiting impatiently for you to react to this.
Most reactions tell us it’s awesome. You tell us very detailed reasons why.
This vocal performance is one of the best all time by a female singer. The musical arrangement is so perfect too.
I´ve been waiting for this reaction for a very long time, It´s little Christmas today, thank you :)
Criminally underrated performance.
If you really want to see how sultry she can sing, you should check out her (also with PMJ) version of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army".
Haley amazes. I love this arrangement and her performance. Your reaction and analysis is spot on, as always.
Somebody needs to send this woman a cushion with the letter "R" embroidered on it. Then she can sit on that letter to her heart's content!
great reaction. Her voice just pulls you in..
