As others have stated, I appreciate a genuine reaction even if it doesn't jibe with mine. Personally I think this is one of the best performances I've ever seen on RUclips. But I certainly understand that it's not necessarily going to be for everybody. Good on you mate for telling it like you see it!
I get why you feel as you do about this version. Haley takes some different feelings from the song. Thom Yorke projects mostly dull despair and hopelessness. Haley projects passion, self-loathing at times and anger at how she feels about herself. But I think it's fine for any cover to be different provided it makes sense. A big contrast to the original but yet her rendition also fits the meaning of the lyrics perfectly well. I never heard of Radiohead or "Creep" until I heard Haley's version, and then looked up the original. It never meant anything to me so I came to Haley's version and was blown away by what she was doing with it. In any case for me sheer overall musicality usually trumps all else. I'm also far more a jazz fan than a pop fan. Good reasons for me to prefer Haley's version. However, I do appreciate that the original meant a lot to a lot of people. An original can stir up strong associations and feelings from the past, a kind of nostalgia almost. Haley has a different take on it.
one of my fave covers and her vocal athleticism is phenomenal, the different colours of her voice are all individually phenomenal. i have seen this version with pmj live but with different artist and this song is always a hit with the audience. the recomposition i think just adds a different flavour to the song that makes it sound new, even to radiohead fans like me. her cursive singing is just so perfect for the song in this style, dark but bright, soft but harsh, playful but strict.
I personally prefer a honest, respectful reaction like yours over a fake hype, so thanks for giving this a listen and me another opportunity to enjoy one of the greatest covers I've ever heard. I'm old enough to have listened to the original when it first came out, and actually quite a few times as it would get played a lot on the radio and in clubs back in the days. I kinda liked the song, musically rather average, but fun lyrics and a nice creepy vibe, but I never became a fan of Radiohead, the few other songs I heard from them were not my cup of tea... And then I forgot about that song for decades, until suddenly, one day well about 3 years ago, I had Haley on my screen and in my headphones in all her glory with this cover and I was completely electrified... what an awesome vocalist, and what a beautiful twist they gave to the rather plain original song, plus the musical and vocal finesse... I think one time I went to listen to the original again to remember where this came from, but it didn't do much for me, the singer's vocals are not really satisfying for me... I've listened to some other covers as well, but not one thrills me like this here does, Haley's range and control are incredible and this became the only version of this song I want to listen to. - That's how differently we perceive music... Peace and love from Bavaria!
When you see her performing duets (especially with Puddles Pity Party,) you can easier see how versatile she is portraying a certain character when contrasted against another singer.
Just finished watching. This is one of my favorite songs from PMJ. Having heard, but not overly familiar with the original, I love Haley's interpretation but I agree the feel is changed. Thanks for the reaction. I appreciate honest reactions, even when they're wrong! 😉lol
100% agree with your reaction. amazing playing, singing, instrumentation, and all but even though I hear how interesting the cover is and am floored by it in ways… listen, best cover I’ve ever heard but it’s not for me. I hear how amazing it is -I do. my opinion is the Radiohead original blows it away both emotionally and sonically. one thing I love about this cover is it thankfully blows everything else away. all the billions of reality tv versions, and other genre hoping Creep takes (like fucking new-country) make me very much want to vomit are now washed away. Thank you PMJ ♥️
I’m with you my friend. I’m such a huge fan of the original and that crunchy guitar coming in, just everything about it. She does have a beautiful voice! Love her rasp. But man I need some rock when I hear Creep. Your honesty is awesome cause you always find something positive! Much love! ❤🤘
I love Haley's voice, Haley and Casey Abram's talent is so underrated, she was my 2nd favorite on AI .. I never watch American Idol, but I remember watching American Idol that year because Steven Tyler was a judge only reason love Steven ... ,,, and Haley and Casey were on their I got so mad they voted Casey off he should have won it in my book .. I never watch it again I still follow Casey and his music ... but I like how Postmodern Jukebox takes a song and make it over their style
Love your honesty and dignity, really. I love Elliot Sumner's cover for this one. Her voice and emotion that she gives is kinda perfect for me, but for each their own anyway. There's so much beautifull music in the world and outstanding artists that deserve attention. I really hope that you're enjoying your time on your channel doing these videos and checking out new stuff. Take care and keep doing whatever floats your boat, not the viewers, really. Because your genuine reactions are gold. Thanks again!
Know you will love this version, or maybe not don't worry everyone has their own point of view. That's fine. Edit hope Asaf Avidan and 900 Days is on your list to watch soon
Very interesting, and it drew me in. It's a nice cover of a song that has imprinted itself on the world. It's not my favorite version, but I appreciate their talents.
Appreciate and agree with your view on the stylistic choices they made. Let’s face it they’re taking on one of the biggest alt rock songs of all time. Haley has a beautiful tone and if they’d stayed with the more playful approach of the first half or even muted it a little and leant on the sad desperation of the lyrics in more of a Pasty Cline Crazy style I would love this. Love the first half, lost me a little with the second 🤷♂️ Best cover song suggestions anyone? Sound of silence-Disturbed Whiskey in the jar-Metallica Easy-Faith no more Nirvana-Man who sold the world If you’ve not heard much Sleep Token it would be nice to see a reaction to them from another old metalhead
@@oldmanmetaldude you know, while I’m aware of Trent’s view and it was a big hit it doesn’t really tickle my pickle. Possibly because it needed to be more metal. But then I was a mad NIN fan. I prefer Leo from frog leap studios cover. I’m sure you will have seen his metal covers channel. If not check it out 🤙
Appreciate the honesty. I'd offer up a suggestion if staying true to the original is a sticking point for you. Try Bohemian Rhapsody cover by Pentatonix. keep keeping it real.
I love the honesty! PMJ was a interesting when they first came out, but it got repetitive for me. I have friends that love it though. That's what's beautiful in this world though. Something for everyone. I just happen to like my music extra crunchy. :D
Love PMJB! Please watch some of their collabs with Puddles! Mad World and Royals are my faves! Speaking of Puddles (Puddles Pity Party) he has a stellar cover of War Pigs, too!
I respect the integrity to stay true. I know something of these things. I appreciated your initial insights but your face was having none of it! You were quite the dry shite as we would say in Ireland. You are entitled to disagree but gave the due respect for talent. Kind regards from a Dublin based old metal head 💚🤍🧡
You should check out PMJ's cover of All About That Bass, with Haley, Morgan James, and Ariana Savalas (Telly Savalas' daughter). Another great one and totally unrelated: Consider a German C&W duo (BossHoss) and the winners of Germany's The Voice Kids (they sang Creep for their audition song), Mimi & Josy. The song they did as a collaboration is WONDERFUL. You can find it if you do a search for: The BossHoss - Little Help ft. Mimi & Josy.
The whole point of point of Post Modern Jukebox it to take a song and reformat it in a different era. I am sorry toy didn't get it. Perhaps you are not schooled in enough history and styles of music to get it. I am sorry for you in that case.
I've watched many reactions to this cover and I think you're the only reactor I've seen with NO reaction. Completely stone-faced. It's a cover, not a reproduction. But I do respect your opinion.
Haley has the most instant lovable voices u will ever hear, she is also a master vocal technician. This is said to be one of the top !0 singing performances . this cover spent 53 weeks top of billboard jazz chart
For my money the song didn't have enough dynamic range, but then again neither does the original, which makes it always so miserable. I think with this it lacks is being different. Musically It is too close to the original to stand out beyond Hayley's vocals.
As others have stated, I appreciate a genuine reaction even if it doesn't jibe with mine. Personally I think this is one of the best performances I've ever seen on RUclips. Yup. Same song. Same message. Different perspective. Love this.
Best version I have ever heard! Better than the original by far.

also we need a variation of reactions so please keep the honesty because that is life. variety is necessary
Very vocal technique known to man, done just about perfectly. Band ain’t too shabby either. A cover ain’t a duplicate.

This version is vastly superior to the original or any other I have heard.
A cover should not be a reproduction of the original. If there is no difference, there is no point to covering a song.
Happy to see Post Modern Jukebox again.
PMJ doesn't do covers, they totally rearrange the songs, not supposed to sound like the original song, not everybody's cup of tea so to speak !
When you see her performing duets (especially with Puddles Pity Party,) you can easier see how versatile she is portraying a certain character when contrasted against another singer.
I am always appreciating honest reactions.

Haha that is one of the things I love about music, we can have differing opinions about a song and not have it change how we hear a piece of music

Haley is from my neighborhood or general area. Been following her for years!!
So happy when I saw the title of this video. This and Hurt by Johnny Cash are the best cover songs I've ever heard! ❣️🦇❣️🦇❣️🦇❣️
The Johnny Cash version of Hurt has a very important place in my life

Hurt - Johnny Cash. One of the few times that even the writer of the original agrees that the cover is the superior rendition
