    I have been thinking about getting procreate (and therefore an ipad) for a while to make my artwork easier to put into print! You make it sound easy so I might re look at it.

      Oh Denise, I LOVE THEM!!! As with all tech stuff it takes a bit of learning, but if you have the interest you’ll learn it all in no time. And the ipad replaced my laptop, I use it for everything now and a laptop feels totally alien to me - I keep whacking the screen and wondering why nothing happens! 🤣

    It’s great to see you doing so well with your laser, you are doing what I wanted to do with mine. But instead it’s sitting there gathering dust unused for ages now. My brain is all over the place at the moment and right now it’s focusing on the gaming stuff rather than the laser cutting or the photography. I don’t have to put any effort in to the gaming, it’s just sit down and play it. The photography and laser all require a lot of effort and I’m just not there yet. I’ll give it this year to see if I use either, if not I’ll sell it all again and see where my creativity wants to go if it comes back any time soon. Keep up the good work Jane, and good luck at the craft fair xx

      Thanks Damon ☺️
      Passive hobby’s definitely have their place, and with what you’ve been through this year the gaming sounds just perfect ☺️
      Be kind to yourself buddy, your creativity has just gone on holiday for a while, but I know it’ll be back and firing on all cylinders when you’re ready. Love to you both 😘

    Hello. I quite enjoyed your video on laser engraving leather. It appears that you have only now had your XTool S1 for a number of months. As I am considering purchasing an engraver for leather working, I am interested to know if you are still satisfied with it's results. Any recommendations or suggestions you could pass along would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Cliff

    I have studio envy! This might be a cheeky question, but - could you share how you package your bookmarks? I'll be selling Fair Isle bookmarks in my new shop, but I can't find any outer packaging that would be good for bookmarks without creating a lot of unnecessary packaging waste! Even just padded envelopes - the ones that are long enough are far too wide. Just wondering how other bookmark makers send them!

    • @hedgecomber
      @hedgecomber  3 месяца назад +1

      I haven’t sent any yet so I have no clue 🤷‍♀️😆 I’m thinking a regular envelope with a backing board but I’d be interested to know what you end going go with too 👌

      @@hedgecomber Thank you. I’m new to leather and was curious what you used for the bookmarks. It’s something I am interested in producing to see how they sell.

    • @hedgecomber
      @hedgecomber  3 месяца назад

      Oh, apologies, the bookmarks are thinner leather - I found the 2.2mm was just too thick for my liking. I would recommend buying a small pack with a few pieces of different weights of leather in as it really helps you visualise what thickness you’d prefer for each project x

    Great video! I'm a printer by work including laser. We don't laser leather, but my boss wanted me to try it. The smell was awful even though the machine is vented. All that to ask, does engraving leather smell badly? Thanks.

    • @hedgecomber
      @hedgecomber  3 месяца назад +2

      Hey Cynthia, People do say it stinks, but I haven’t found to to be the case. It smells of smoke, yes, but not the burning flesh smell that people talk about. Also, never laser chrome tan leather, the fumes are so toxic - always look for veg tan (or vegetable tanned) leather for laser work. Although I tend to assume that all smoke produced by a laser is toxic, so I try to avoid breathing it in at all costs.
      Also I think it depends a lot on the style of laser - this one is enclosed, and the pipe vents it directly out of my external wall. If you used a smaller, more portable machine that wasn’t enclosed, you’d have to use it outdoors or in a shed, and possibly wear a mask.
