      @@EkimNalim because I have a few lasers I have been going back and forth but as for leather I do use the Aufero Laser 2 Lu2-10a 10 Watt the most. So far it has held up just fine. I do all my engraving outside so it is easy to take out because it is a light aluminon But when it comes to leather, what I like about it the most is that the nozzle at the bottom of the laser module is smaller then most lasers and also gives me more space away from the material when it is focused. For this reason it never snags onto the leather because it has good clearance and is small giving it less of a chance to snag onto leather after the leather is cut. When you cut leather sometimes it might curl up a little and while the laser passes that section to move onto another section the leather can rise to much and the laser can snag it as it goes by moving the material and destroying the rest of your project. When you look into buying a laser maybe keep this in mind. Thank you for the question. :)

      So cutting 1/16 Balsa wood should be no big deal at all... I want to buy a budget diode cutter for c/l model airplane ribs 25 inches cutting per rib 24 ribs. It takes a week of spare time to hand make a stack of ribs... will 5 watt work?? I can run it slow.. I'm a Noob

    • @baronleathercraft
      @baronleathercraft  Год назад

      @@matthewmutz9337 I just did a search in google for "cut balsa wood with a laser model airplane kits" and a ton of information came up. A 5 watt laser should cut 1/16 balsa fine but slower then a 10 watt. The higher the wattage of a laser the faster and thicker it can cut. A 5 watt laser should have no trouble with 1/16 balsa wood and can engrave in more detail then some higher wattage machines. Enjoy! I think this seems to be a great idea for speeding up your creations. Thank you for the question.

I appreciate your opinion on what you would personally use when making leather. While investigating everything there is to know about settings for cutting leather I was not finding specific information on the most part. Hi Thank you very much!
      You will need a honeycomb laser bed for cutting with the laser. You put whatever you are cutting on top of it. You can find them on Amazon.
      Below the honeycomb laser bed you want to put what we call a piece of waste board. this will go underneath everything.
      www.homedepot.com/p/Handprint-15-32-in-x-2-ft-x-2-ft-Sanded-Plywood-3008...
      I also got what is called air assist. The Aufero laser 2 with the 10 watt laser is ready to run air assist. All you need is to buy a pump. I bought this one although Sinus now makes one.
      www.growgeneration.com/aquavita-air-compressor-143l-min.html
      Plus I also decided to get lightburn software. The is a free software but lightbun is better from what I hear.
      So look into:
      1. honeycomb laser bed
      2. wood board to go on bottom www.homedepot.com/p/Handprint-15-32-in-x-2-ft-x-2-ft-Sanded-Plywood-3008...
      3. Pump for Air assist www.growgeneration.com/aquavita-air-compressor-143l-min.html

    I am doing lots of leather cutting/engraving on my WeCreat Vision 20w and it's amazing. Only ONE issue... The smell of the leather, even after cleaning it, is not good. I have looked far and wide for a good solution to that.What I'm doing right now is putting my leather work into a box and using an Ozone generator to get rid of the smell. Are you aware of another, hopefully better, way of dealing with the burnt leather smell. It is particularly noticeable on leather pint glass sleeves and earrings...Thank you.

    • @baronleathercraft

      That actually was one of my fears when I converted some of my leather mask patterns to be cut with a laser. When I first cut them I would smell the char of the leather and of course masks are worn right up against someone's nose. I was like, I can't send these out like this. :) What I did find thought is that after a few days (even after building the mask right away) the smell went away completely. As of this day not one client has brought this topic up and I sell a good amount of masks. I think the ozone generator sounds like a good test. I would leave some outside of the box without the generator and some with the generator and then have a friend smell them and see if they notice. Do not even tell them about the laser cut and see what there opinion is. It could be keeping them in a box might prevent the smell from going away but that is what the test is for. As far as my findings, as I said the smell goes away pretty quickly. Make sure to sand and burnish the edges since that is where most of the contact with your laser is and most of the char is. Let me know how it goes! Great topic...:)

      I agree. The best answer I can give you right now is time. One of the first of my templates I converted to be able to make on the laser was a mask that I make. I put it up to my face when I was done and realized right away that I can't give this to anyone as long as it smells like this. Then I picked up the bundle of test pieces that I did for this video a couple of weeks prior and they only smelled like leather. I was surprised. I made the mask about 2 weeks ago and now you can barely smell the burn. So it is "Time" that gets rid of the smell. I ran into this Reddit post on the same topic incase you want to read it but they came to the same conclusion but some people had some suggestions that can't hurt to try. Some recommend isopropyl alcohol. I think this would dry out the leather so if you do use alcohol oil up the leather after.

    Bonjour quel type de cuir arrivez-vous à découper aussi facilement ? Collet?

    • @baronleathercraft
      @baronleathercraft  Год назад

      J'utilise du cuir Veg tan. Les cuirs plus souples comme le tannage au chrome produisent en fait une fumée toxique lorsque vous les gravez ou les coupez. Le cuir tanné au chrome découpé au laser libère du gaz cyanure, qui est hautement toxique et potentiellement mortel. Vous ne voulez pas vous embêter avec ça.
      Le tannage végétal est le plus sûr et le cuir que j'utilise le plus. Merci!
      I use Veg tan leather. Softer leather like chrome tan actually produce poisonous smoke when you engrave or cut them. Laser cutting chrome tanned leather releases cyanide gas, which is highly poisonous and potentially lethal. You don’t want to mess around with it.
      Veg tan is the safest and the leather I use most. Thank you!

      The LM2 Pro is capable of cutting acrylic as you know. According to the materials reference provided by Ortur, the recommended settings for cutting and engraving acrylic depend on the thickness of the material However, the reference does not provide any information on creating RGB backplates for video cards. I have no knowledge on creating RGB backplates so I can not say for sure but based on my limited research on the topic to answer your question I am going to say maybe. :) I have found videos on this topic but they are using a Co2 laser. Here is a link to one of the videos.:ruclips.net/video/VYOSaGIcLhE/видео.html I know the LM2 will cut acrylic just fine. I am not sure if a diode laser cuts the edges as cleanly as a co2 laser. based on what I see in this video I want to say , yes it can, but I am not confident enough to give you a definitive answer. Salve, grazie per la domanda.
      Come sai, inalare fumo non fa bene. Detto questo, La pelle più sicura per
      incidere e tagliare è noto come cuoio veg tan. La pelle conciata al vegetale si riferisce al metodo di concia della pelle bovina in pelle. Si chiama “vegetale” per via dei tannini naturali utilizzati nel processo di concia come la corteccia degli alberi. È l'unica pelle con cui userò il mio laser. Alcune pelli sono effettivamente tossiche da incidere e bruciare. Pelle chiamata pelle conciata al cromo. Il taglio laser della pelle conciata al cromo rilascia gas di cianuro, che è altamente velenoso e potenzialmente letale. Non vuoi scherzare con esso. Speravo che questo aiutasse! Grazie. :)
      Hi, Thank you for the question.
      As you know inhaling any smoke is not good for you. With that said, The safest leather to engrave and cut is Known as veg tan leather. Vegetable tanned leather refers to the method of tanning the cowhide into leather. It’s called “vegetable” because of the natural tannins used in the tanning process like tree bark. It is the only leather I will use my laser with. Some leather is actually toxic to engrave and burn. Leather called chrome tanned leather. Laser cutting chrome tanned leather releases cyanide gas, which is highly poisonous and potentially lethal. You don't want to mess around with it. I hoped this helped! Thank you. :)

    • @baronleathercraft
      @baronleathercraft  2 месяца назад +1

      yes you can, it is a little tricky sometimes but very doable. Also a great idea for a video. There is a few ways to approach this. After you scan the pattern you are going to want to convert the image into a vector. You can turn your scanned image into a vector in lightburn but it is limited and most likely not going to give you the single line vector you are looking for. I have been using Adobe Illustrator to do this ( Video here: ruclips.net/video/m0oKqHeBjeo/видео.html )but I have now been using a free program to trace my scans into a vectors called InkScape. I will make a video but I can not get to it right away. When you have your traced vector bring it into lightburn and cut out the pattern on a piece of cardboard to see if it is the right size for you. if not, resize it in lightburn. This is just a quick explanation but I am here to help you. Just write with your questions and I will respond the best I can. Have fun, don't get frustrated. This is how you learn and all this experimentation is going to help you understand your software and the steps you need to take to achieve your goal.

He posted this video: ruclips.net/video/tYzxlJkE0B4/видео.html . He seemed to of fixed it because he has videos of himself using the machine to cut after the fact. He never did reveal how he fixed it but if you get in touch with him I am sure he will reveal how he fixed it, plus since he uses the same laser as you he might be a good source of information. I hope this leads you on a path to fixing your issue. Lets us know how it works out. Plus, it just occurred to me. play around with different focal lengths just to see if it makes a difference. I have had some luck playing around like that with one of my lasers.

    Hello, Sir! Thank you for this great video, I find it very helpful and professional.
    I have a situation that I don't understand. I ran a cutting test on a 1.7mm leather, using 10w diod, Lightburn. It cut horizontally but not vertically. Where it is 100% cut horizontally, the vertical cuts are 50-70% through ? Why is it? PS It cuts other materials fine

      Some say that because the beam is rectangular, it is slightly less powerful on the y axis. If it was slightly , I would agree. But I ran 2 passes at 840mm/min at 35 power on a job and it cut well horizontally but not vertically. I ran another pass, still didn't get through vertically

    What software do you use for design?

    • @baronleathercraft
      @baronleathercraft  Год назад

      I use a combination of Lightburn and Adobe illustrator. I find it easy to create shapes such as leather wallet pockets in lightburn but I find that lightburn really is not able to truly create stitching holes correctly yet. It lacks some features that illustrator has as far as evening out hole distance and being able to manipulate how the holes travel around corners. You can make stitching holes in lightburn, they sometimes (if all the math comes together) land in the right spots but if you want them to be completely accurate use illustrator. There are some great youtube videos on how to create stitching holes with illustrator. I have seen 2 videos on making stitching holes with lightburn and if you look closely at the ends and corners the holes just do not land in the right place. I have tried myself with the same outcome. So sometimes I will create a shape in lightburn and then import it into illustrator to finish it up. I hope this helps! Thank you...:)

    What is the minimum diameter you can egrave for stitching holes?

    • @baronleathercraft
      @baronleathercraft  Год назад

      I actually have not tried to cut a hole smaller the 1mm . A diode laser can indeed cut a hole smaller than one millimeter in leather. However, It is important to note that the settings required to cut any hole may vary depending on the thickness of the leather. You are going to have to experiment with different settings to achieve the desired results. This is something I do before I cut just about anything anyway to make sure I do not waste material. If I am going to cut stitching holes in a thick piece of leather I will test a small piece and see what power I need to cut through the leather. I will also test how many times I need to make a pass. I will test your question next time I power on the laser. I know the software will let me design any size hole, I mean crazy small. The smaller the spot size of the laser the smaller and more detail a laser can cut and engrave but I feel any of the lasers on the market can achieve your goal. You do not have to search for a laser with a small spot size . In conclusion, I am sure I can make a hole with a laser the size of the beam itself. so although I have not tried you experiment ( and I will) I am confident you can achieve your goal size.

      @@ayhanozlerThank you for letting me know. I love knowing my videos are helping other people. :) Once you have your design set up you can really start pumping them out. As you might see from my videos I do not run the laser in my apartment. I bring it outside. Do you have a porch or a place to do it outside? If you are going to do it inside you are going to need an enclosure and an exhaust system to force the smoke out a window. Even then leather is so stinky when being cut or engraved I do not think there is any enclosure that would contain that smell completely. If it smelled like bacon I would run it all day but it smells more like burnt hair. Just in case you are not aware. :)

    • @baronleathercraft
      @baronleathercraft  Год назад

      @@ayhanozler I always wet the leather before I cut it. It helps it lay flat and keeps the laser module from pushing the material and ruining the job. It also helps prevent smoke damage. I also wash the leather off under water after cutting/engraving. I found for me the smoke smell goes away after 2 to 3 days. Also you will need to sand the edges. The holes can gather soot which can cause a problem with sewing because it can leave a residue on the stitch and lighter color thread can reveal this. Darker thread there is no problem. Your neighbors will not like it. So I wouldn't run your laser 24/7. Do it in spurts. :)
