I don't know if you know this, BUT: If you're going to checkout music from Killswitch or other bands around that time (early to late 2000) they often cut out the screams, cut the songs short or make a more radio friendly version of their songs for tv/radio. The album version is often the "real" version. This wasn't one of those videos, but just something to remember. The video version for My Curse for example has no scream, the album version does.

No way! Really? I mean I've heard of radio edits but that seems like it may be going a little too far! Thanks for the heads up!

@@PrymalChaos Yup. Pretty much every of my favorite metal bands at that time did that. Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Chimaira. And it's always annoying when people react to their music from that time and they don't get the full experience of the song.

@@coal_91 I'll keep that in mind when I work out which version to do.
I had to do a censored version of Pray for Plagues because the uncensored version was only available in 240p potato quality. It's a bit of a shame that a lot of the coolest tracks in the genre are from back in the early days of RUclips.

One of my first metalcore bands during my first big heartache. Was 16 back then, now I'm 33. Still holds up

"The End of Heartache" was an early entry in my metalcore rolodex.
"Rose of Sharyn" was a branching-off point...heavy in all the ways.

people put this in the same metalcore genre bag, but to be fair this is 'melodic metalcore' since they were influenced by melodic death metal bands (for example in flames, at the gates) and you can even find previous 2000s metalcore bands like Converge, or Dillinger Escape Plan, and they have nothing in common with this kind of style.
The best album of them in my opinion is Alive or Just Berathing, which contains this song. And in retrospect it is one of the best recordings of melodic metalcore that resisted time, since it was a very abused genre in the metalhead mainsream. I suggest you listen to it.
    nice reaction!

Thanks I appreciate that coming from someone who gets that timeframe.

Would love to see more KSE reactions. If you like comparing vocals just for fun, the studio version of the song ''Fixation on the Darkness'' (from the same album My Last Serenade is on) has Jesse on Vocals, but on the Music Video to Fixation on the Darkness its Howard on Vocals it was probably like a test recording if Howard fits to the band when Jesse left. And I guess they just put it on the music video. I don't know the actual reason and how that happened but yes, Fixation on the Darkness, Studio Version has Jesse Leach and Music Video has Howard Jones. Just a reminder that both of them at that time were young and now both Jesse and Howard sound even better than they did back in the day. Howard just did a project with youtuber Jared Dines, Howard is 51 but still a beast, the project is called SION and the album is just self titled if you wanna check it out. I love both Jesse and Howard equally.

That's crazy! I didn't know about that. I may have to do a double episode comparing the two!

Honestly I see that song and I just smile cause of how young they look. But they have definately evolved. My Curse was Howard Jones instead of the singer in this song Jesse Leech, but Jesse left after the album this song is on, they replaced him with Howard and now Jesse is back in the bang, you want to hear a great cross section as well as the evolution of the band check out "The Signal fire" by them...it also has Justin Foley on drums in the Signal fire and he's the definition of a tight drummer

Yeah. I may have to do a Killswitch song with Howard just for comparison. Obviously not My Curse but I'll figure something out.

Personally I absolutely think Howard Jones is a much better vocalist for Killswitch. I was disappointed when I read that they were going separate ways. Nice videos bro 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
