Rooney was the main reason I fell in love with football and in particular Manchester United. A player who could do it all, score any type of goal, and basically play anywhere on the pitch. He was a warrior who gave it all. I still think that he doesn't get the respect he actually deserves.
Literally the same for me! I've always liked his style of play which was a direct shot to the goal no matter where at on the pitch. I'd definitely say I modeled my style from him.

Rooney, my favourite footballer of all time. The primary reason why I started watching football as a 9 year old back in 2005. Used to love watching him and Ronaldo tear up Premier League defences.
He's getting the respect he deserves now he has retired ..at the period he played for united you almost expected to see the type of performances he gave and moments of magic he produced but with the current lot coming up behind him you realise it's not that easy ..many have been marked as being the next English talent but nobody's come close to achieving what he has with the trophys personal achievement and moments of magic combined ..exceptional player..him and cantona my favourites of all time .

A true legend.
He was finished when he came back to Everton, however it'll be a long time before England will produce a player with the class/genius he had in his prime. Best English player of his generation.

I grew up watching Fergie's United in their absolute prime, but of all the great players at the club during that era, Rooney was and always will be my absolute favourite. At his peak, an unstoppable, irrepressible force of nature.
I don’t think we’ll get anyone like him ever again. Many times he could have passed the ball and tried a different approach but he always had determination to take the shot himself, and when he did that he almost never missed.
