I adore your commentary and identification of the flora and fauna as you go. I developed a love for the Appalachian trail and Appalachia and always love to follow the thru hikers. In all these years, I’ve never enjoyed a thru hiker’s story as much as yours. You are a pro nature guide. The emotional lows are a natural aspect of the body switching its chemistry to drive you through the forest with that infectious smile and enchanting commentary. Eat well, continue to enjoy the beauty hidden in plain site, and know that you touch the lives of many strangers with your honest and engaging personality. We are all quite blessed to meet you and follow along on your journey.

Heard your episode with Kyle Hates Hiking probably a week ago (maybe longer, time is blurring lately lol) and had to follow you before the episode ended. Glad I did! Been really enjoying watching your journey today while continuing to prepare for my own. I feel like I’ve watched so many “technical hikers” lately, it’s nice to see someone just enjoying the trail for its history and beauty, and not seeming to want to rush through the trail. I’m going to slow down and enjoy the beauty, so watching you feels like a good reminder of my goals and why I’m going At a time when moral is always really low from months of constant planning. Hope you’re doing well ❤

You had a bad day and you bounced back and then you had another bad day and then you bounced back again. You are absolutely crushing this. I feel like you are getting so much more out of this than most people do. Others tend to focus on the physical and social aspects of thru hiking. With you it's all that and so much more and you're taking us along for ride. Thank you! I'm off to hike in the Smokies in a few days and I'll be super looking forward to your next video when I get back.

Loved that you showed your emotional side, because to be honest, there are a few RUclips hikers that only show the “upside” of their thru-hike. There’s no way one can hike 2,200 miles without a few shitty days.

TC, this has been one of the best vlogs I have ever read from a thru hiker. You are kinda in the same bubble as Lizard and she is experiencing a lot of the same emotions. "My own emotions are giving me whiplash." What an awesome way to summarize life on the AT. But you and Lizard are handling it as well as anyone. Way to bounce back. Don't you dare quit this hike. It would be a great loss for the class of 2023. God bless.

Those purple trillium are incredible! I just finished a section hike in VA and we saw so many trillium, but sadly no purple.
I also ran into some researchers counting wood frogs and salamanders in a vernal pool. I ran over to talk to them and my friend was yelling, "Wait! Don't talk to strange guys in the woods!" I was sure they were safe because they had clipboards. :D
My son is a freshman studying ecology now and I am living vicariously through him. I love seeing hikers on trail who take the time to really dive into the beauty and incredible diversity of the trail. Maybe I'll get a chance to meet you when you reach PA. I do weekly trail magic around the middle of the state.

"The light percolated", you do have a way with words! Just hearing you say that awakened my senses towards photography that I haven't had for a few years. Your joy of the flowers and birds and wildlife always makes you smile and shows just how comfortable you are in the outdoors. Hey, EVERYBODY has bad days especially after visits and cold rains. Trust me, they are to be expected but you need to rely on your trail thoughts, trail friends and the good days to keep that smile and realize what it truly is......just a bad day. Never be afraid to stop early or take a zero. As much as I was shooting photos on my first hike and taking my time, it took me 191 days to hike the A.T. but I had 79 zero days. Take your time and enjoy the process. BTW, don't send any winter gear home until after the Grayson Highlands. Trust me!

I’m loving it! It’s working very well. Even when I had to have the hip belt replaced, the company responded promptly and sent me a new one for free.
