This was awesome! I saw the FMQ design you used for your nine patch blocks used on the four patches of the 54-40 blocks of a Tennessee waltz quilt and wanted to use it on the Tennessee waltz quilt that I’m making. I wasn’t sure if they used a stencil for it or what path they chose to create it but not really having a name for it was wondering how I’d find out more about it and just happened upon this video in a generic FMQ RUclips search and am so glad I did, thanks x’s 1,000!
I have always been intimidated by quilting. Love the look but was always afraid I would mess it up. After watching your videos it has changed my way of looking at it. Now it’s more of a challenge to see my mistakes and improve on them. Thank you.
Loved the video on FMQ, just purchased “The great basics” so happy it was an Ebook, as postage costs can be prohibited to Ireland. Any chance your other books will be Ebooks?
On this machine I don't and technically you don't on any machine, just turn the stitch length to zero. When FMQ the stitch length is always "You" - how fast you move is what makes the length - the speed of the machine is up to you also - you and your machine need to work together. Hope that helps :) - Nancy
Amy Humphries I disagree, I tried that and was not happy. Once the feed dogs were dropped it made a huge difference. Don’t forget she is using a commercial machine, not a home one
When meandering on a quilt is it better to start at a corner or start in the middle? Also have heard you don't ever cross over a line. Is that just personal preference? Free motion quilting is not as easy as it looks, takes a lot of practice. I liked your designs.
Hi Judy - I generally start on the edge and work my way to the middle after I have stabilized the quilt with straight lines. Not crossing a line is something someone said once and I have no idea way - it makes no since to me. I don't practice - I do :) - just start - make a small quilt and quilt it and I bet your next one will be better than the first :)
Hey Barbara - here is the whole playlist for this quilt - follow it though and you will see the basting video - I use 505 Basting Spray and safety pin. Good Luck :)
I am inspired to try free motion quilting on my next quilt.
Awesomeness at its best ❤❤❤
So appreciate your thorough explanation of each step of the way of quilting.

You can do it!
Thanks so much for all of the great information and showing how to use it!
You are so welcome!
Wow!! I need your book! Looking it up now - I love how you show and explain as you go. So hard to sometimes forgive out even how to begin 👍
You are so welcome!

Glad you enjoyed it! and found the others :)
Did you drop the feed dogs? How do you control the stitch size?

Please show how to put the quilt and backing together, I am unhappy with my work pining or spraying, rinkals and bubbles Ths

Sorry got it wrong, on closer inspection (with glasses on) I see your books are ebooks.
