Take a look at Japanese kana and it might help you understand why. It's weird to explain, but most of the "letters" in kana are a vowel and a consonant together or just a vowel. Like, the sound da is だ, or the sound of "a" is あ and it's one sound that's not separated. The only consonant only sound is the n sound, and that's ん or ン. There are few cases where you would drop a vowel sound. This is why it sounds like they add stuff. Also there's a ton of borrowed words that sound similar with maybe some extra sounds in them. Ex: アメリカ or amerika is America, サッカー or "Saakaa" is soccer.
Actually japanese phonetic are rather simple and hence people who haven't learned or struggle with foreign language is cuz they find it hard to pronounce those complex pronunciation.........
