Up until now, I had always believed that being able to watch an episode of anime without subtitles while still understanding every word of Japanese is the ultimate achievement for a weeb. Today I realize the real achievement is being able to understand the English.
As someone who taught English in Japan for a long time this made my whole body hurt. But also... I kind of appreciate it when Japanese creators depict Japanese people speaking/attempting English. It makes Japanese kids actually stop and consider if it might be worthwhile for them.

Actually I have one example watch black lagoon English dub when Rock returns to Japan as Balalaika's translator, even if you are an English subtitles anime watcher, you will spot the difference.

Indeed. Although it happens from time to time like in one scene during Ao-chan can’t Study, in the sub Takumi says a phrase in English and ask what it means while in the dub he says the same phrase in Japanese and asks what it means. Gotta give Blake Jackson credit for the effort

I doubt they’d hire a Japanese actor just to say a line in a dub. Most dubbing companies are in western territories so idk why you bring up English actors in Japan. That makes no feasible sense in so many ways.
Actually I have one example watch black lagoon English dub when Rock returns to Japan as Balalaika's translator, even if you are an English subtitles anime watcher, you will spot the difference.
But we have scenes of english actors trying to speak other languages, and sometimes it's really cringe

The first clip was actually pretty good. I can understand them better than some american accents.
This actually reminds me of a few times I heard Rushiki, a broken form of Russian spoken in anime. I'm always so surprised by that.
