oh my sweet lord this is the pedal i've been looking for all my life.... until i find the next pedal i've been looking for all my life
If you forget that you had the very first ones you bought, you can start to desire them again: like this you will end up having doubles 🤪
Vicious cycle, isn't it? ;)
Nice to hear some music for a change on YT and not the usual "look how many notes I can play in 1 second" nonsense.
Thank you for these smart, well-sounding video clips that really tell the tale - also for not talking, but playing music... great...
By far the best effect demo serie on the Tube... and this very one don't makes exception. Can listen to it without a focus on the effect involved, just for the music sake. And very pedagogic with text (albeit the scrolling is a bit fast for non-naive readers -like me-).
Thanks, keep going.
9:15 I'm dead.. this is the best thing I can have ... AWESOME!!
Another free guitar lesson with a pedal in the corner... thanks!
Nice demo! really thorough unlike many other demos on RUclips :)
Definitely on my list of effects pedals to get....
Jaime Flor :: did you ever get it? It’s a bit pricey, but I'm saving up for it now. If you got it, how do you like it after 3 years?
dead channel 😢
Excellent demo of an equally excellent pedal. Atmospheric & beautifully conveyed by the presenter. Thanks
Best demo of this pedal, thank you
Amazing pedal. EHX kicks arse. The most innovative ideas around. Great demo.
@3:20, great arrangement. shows off the use of the pedal with dry signal coming through. great touch
prymaxe in the Mike Hernandez era is/was the best on youtube. thank you for all your work
the superego is a really clever and unique pedal. it's really interesting seeing what ppl do with it.
Amazing music as always!
It's the superego with other pedals in it's loop. So you only hear the other effects on the frozen parts, not your original guitar signal.
My pedalboard keeps growing and growing. I love this 😍!!!
amazing skill and tone in the guitar player WOW LOVE that strat and tele tones... lovely
Wow the way you used the gliss effects was awesome!!
Mahalo for a comprehensive demo. Looper w/bass plus EHX BMWicker and the sky's the limit IMHO.
He basically split the signal from his pedal board and sent one through a Roland SDE 3000 delay and volume pedal. The delay was configured for long delays to give about 20 seconds of the previous chord. Pete Cornish, the guy that builds his pedals, has an article about it on his website.
That would work great. I love the Strymon Lex with it. Or any Leslie simulator.
That intro is awesome. Great soloing!
Thanks. Such a great pedal!
-Mike
No overdubs on the first 3 tracks. The last track has chords in the background also using the Superego
That harmonica is pretty dope.
I have this pedal and I *absolutely love it* ... but it should be noted that I'm pretty sure the Star Spangled Banner demo is done in either momentary or latch mode -- not auto. I could be wrong because you can play softly to trick it into ignoring you while you riff over what it's holding. Just a note ;-) Great demo, though!
I agree! Such a great tool
The pedal is definitely cool, but I'd rather apply the effects that the superego does with other pedals like chorus or rotary speaker, so I could still use the hold chord effect but turn off those effects if I wanted to.
Totally need one of these!
I love this thing!
Such a gift...
Thanks so much!
Very interesting sounding pedal.
Useful when playing floyd's stuff ;)
Thanks!
Ha! Awesome!
-Mike
Way to go Ligeti towards the end. The Starchild can't be long, now. A spaced odyssey, good sir.
Great for Floyd!
Also I like that Hammer horror section at 10:30.
That's some really nice playing and demoing. I love the technique. Where do you play or teach?
This pedal is quite difficult to use. In latch mode you have to be really accurate when syncing your playing and pressing the switch, in auto you have to hit the notes/chord very hard, lots of attack or it just won't sustain. Even then it doesn't always sustain indefinitely, sometimes it fades out quickly.
Glissando is fun. Using the FX loop is a must.
Probably best as a recording tool.
Amazing pedal, but what beautiful playing too!
Not going to do a follow up. This video has effects in the loop... The Epitome would work great for that though!
Mike, the only thing I can't grasp is how you're making the chord changes so seamless in the "latch" mode without causing chords to start toppling on themselves. Is it just fancy footwork with the double tapping of the footswitch? Thanks
In the first segment does anybody know what scales/arpeggios he plays off?
Nice!
1:12 Signos de Soda Stereo💪
Ok, thanks for ur answer.
Someone's digging some Pat Martino there 0:50
i can not wait to play around with this
i ordered it like.. 4 or 5 days ago.. and the holidays are getting in the way with shipping... so i have to wait til monday i think
great job!
If you don't see the point, you don't really get the function of the pedal I suppose.
Bravo Mike ! Always refreshing ! By the way David Gilmour did something similar in his Concert (acoustic) DVD and without the superego pedal, how did he manage it ?
Great video and sound! Esp from 09:00 onward. Is this possible with an acoustic guitar without an amplifier? So I mean directly to DI or even the mixer. If so, what would you need besides two jack cables?
What a demo!!
Must buy this i nid to add to my guitar pedal board!
I think so. You could also put it in the Superego's loop....
Reminds me of the interlude in Radiohead's "15 steps".
I was using the Strymon Lex
i think you should turn all this improvisations to a full length CD !
@3:23 heaven
Great demo, as always. Are you going to do a follow up with various effects in the fx loop. The Epitome would be a great fit.
Boomerang Delay. Gilmour controlled the dry/wet balance with his foot.
what is the backing track you are using in min 2?
Interesting strat there. I've not heard a nashguitars played.
Nice demo but you're not showing how loud the switch is. Mine goes "KER-SNAP!!!" every time I hit it.
Eh stuff does that across the board unfortunately.
Great modern sounds in an antique stomp box.
The ker-snap ain’t in the signal chain son, so if you’re milking your cab in a iso room, you won’t hear it. Or if you’re p,aging loud enough and the box is far enough from your mics, again so problem.
Increíble sonido de trompeta parece? Cómo se logra?
No. I just looped the chords in the recording.... this pedal does not loop parts....
Great tool for stimulating the creativity! It's on my list... What are the shipping and return policies fo Canada, please?
Can you still use your effects that are in the bypass loop when the unit is not being used? Or allow the loop to be now active with the rest of your pedals?
why does everything sound like 'Dark side of the moon"?
+neil healy Real question is why not?
Schuyler Watson :: 👍
Shine on
Schuyler Watson Why doesn’t would’ve been the better smart ass reply but yeah...
2:30 It is Tortoise riff? sound great man
I assume there is a backing track used with bass and drums and its not all from the pedal?
2:30 reminds me of the soundtrack of alundra the game xD
I do really like the demos and the musical samples I just need a voice-over description of what's going on
Hi, great sound..please excuse my ignorance : How can u have the chords (A|G|F) changing automatically at 2.20 until 3.13 ? does this pedal doing it alone ?
Mike, please, which rotary pedal did you use in this vid? Sounds so gooooooood
It's a Strymon Lex.
Let me ask Cory...
-Mike
Strymon Lex
muito interessante, inteligente, resta só ter um pouco de talento para executar com exatidão o que este pedal oferece. é muitissimo bom
Mike, do you know if we could use the Mobius in the SuperEgo's effects loop while still having our dirt pedals in the Mobius' effects loop to decide whether the modulation happens pre or post dirt? Thanks
that star spangled banner had fergie vibes
Sure but I also want to be able to use the fuzz on its own. Guess I'll just give it a try.
from 8:48 to the end , i was stoned !!!
Is the EHX Freeze built into this, with the latch settings?
Thanks, Mike... I asked them on their facebook page and have not gotten an answer...
so did we hear a superego or did we heaqr a sooperego going thru a couple more pedals? If so whats the point?
Can this pedal be used for a kind of "automatic E-bow" (or Fernandes Sustainer-) effect, i.e. can you play a melody (or chord progression) and change notes or chords quite normally, and then hold any note/chord within that melody or chord progression infinitely? And will the pedal be able to render vibrato applied to the sustained note(s), or will it just be able to play fixed note(s) without vibrato? (hope I explained this understandably..)
+Ketil Strand Yes, it can! You can control which note of the scale is sustained simply by holding the footswitch at the correct time. If you place a vibrato pedal in the effects loop, you can add vibrato to the frozen signal.
Sounds nice, but I'd probably just get their freeze pedal.
check out comments under that "acoustic" version of shine on... its explained there..
awesome, would you please tell what pedal did you use for rotary ?
can i use this on a keyboard to make it sound like a synth?
Don't know?
Would the portamento work well after a heavy fuzz for "synth lead" stuff ?
You don't need this pedal for that.
Is this like a more expensive version of the freeze pedal?
Mike Hermans is becoming one of my favorite guitar players with these demos
Could anyone tell me what chord progression he uses from 8:50 up to 9:15?
basically I IV V in Bm. Bm-Em-F#m. That big chord in the middle is Em11 sounding, spelled G,A,D,F# over E in the bass.
Thanks a lot dude.
Is it possible to send the dry and wet signals to separate amps?
kardRatzinger You could take the effects loop send to got to another amp i think.
Can you get horn sounds?
Can someone please tell me whether this is running through a valve or solid-state amplifier. Thanks
***** Thanks. It did help, although I probably should of assumed - being an advertisement- that the cleanest amp was being used.
