The electric mistress is just a play on electric lady and Jimi Hendrix studio of the same name they did a lot of tape flanging and really took it to the next level
@@wesmitchem825 I live in NYC, and a friend was one an engineer at Electric Lady (so I've had the honor & pleasure of watching them track a session) and a 2nd time for an after hours party. That place just has a Vibe of Creativity. West 8th street NYC.
EHX were definitely the very earliest dev to make especially strange and bizarre efx stomps, and their “everyday” effects, their fuzzes, choruses, etc are at the top of their class. And to this day, they haven’t lost it at all. They’re still turning out incredibly innovative stuff. I’m thinking of their “guitar-to-instrument” line for example. I have their Mellotron pedal and one of the organ pedals, and God willing, I’ll pick up the “bass” and “synth” stomps soon. I guess anyone reading can see I’m a fan of this dev, Lol.
I try to mix it up. There will be some newer items in the new year, but yeah, as most of my purchases are used, that’s what I focus on for the most part.
I have a Superego on my board. Guitar goes into an SY-200 which uses the send to split the signal to a "guitar" path and a "synth" path, which eventually join at an EHX Switchbade+ (reversed inputs/outputs). I freeze the big synth chords from a String9 then play lead through a Fuzz Face and Boonar, basically playing Wright's and Gilmour's parts at the same time with accurate tone ;)
Love the format. Especially like the overhead view and the knob twisting. That’s how I’d play with it at home. I bought a looper and a shimmer reverb to basically do the same thing this pedal does in a single box. Only I suck at looping and this has many more effects than just shimmer. Wish I would’ve known this thing existed. EHX should give you all the dollars for such a great review. Glad I found your channel and I hope it grows. A+ review.
gorgeous. huge thanks to Stompbox Breakdown and to Zzounds for making it happen. i frequent an ambient community that has this box as a very nearly mandatory add for the big big sounds. it's here that i learned how it works, what it does, and ...well, why i need it. again, many thanks for taking us through the good goodness. happy holidays to you and yours!
Ooh, what community is that? I might want to check it out. Thank you and happy holidays to you as well, JammyPants, I always look forward to your input.
This is the best video ive found on this pedal. I like that its more explanation and how-to, other then just a review. I own this pedal and have been clueless at times with it even though its badass. Big help, thank you.
I'd love to see your take on the Tri Parallel Mixer! Your vids are excellent combinations of information, music and entertainment. BTW the Superego+ is one of the few pedals I own, can't get enough of it
And the Big Muff is named after...haha! 🤣🤣 I have the more humble Superego but I've have never really bonded too much with it, mainly because of its tracking. Even with a compressor in front of it, it will miss the odd note. Brilliant video and can't wait until your next one!!
Excellent job, I have this pedal and I wish I saw this video sooner as its clear, to the point, and VERY easy to understand. This would have certainly helped me climb the learning curve faster. Given that can we get a review of the Meris- Enzo? They make great pedals but wow is the learning curve high at first.
I had the original Superego and foolishly let it go in a trade. As much fun as it was, I did always struggle with it sounding too "static", and ended up putting buying a zoom multistomp to put in its effects loop. This pedal is a much more elegant solution to that problem and seems to benefit from being a bit easier to control. Great demo as usual! Crossing my fingers for a Miku video next.
Great stuff, as always! What a fun pedal. I could lose days to this thing. I would love to see a deep dive into the mixer. Anything EHX, as far as that goes.
That thing is rad I had no idea it was so cool the normal super ego just seemed like a weird portamento effect that they didn't pull off that great.the person I'd seen demoing it would get a note frozen then it would try to bend to the next but always come out wrong
That's the thing, the regular Superego sounds really interesting but there's so much going on, I think I'd really want the extra customization to tweak that sound. The pitch bending can totally fit in some situations, but be annoying in others.
It doesn’t really do the fast tracking thing like the SY pedals do. It’s more for the airy pad stuff which… I kinda find the SY-200 doesn’t do all that well. So it kinda works out that way.
I watched a few videos on this pedal and I’m completely confused. I thought a synth engine was supposed to enable you to design various synth sounds or tones such as a synth lead not just effects. Where is the synth engine? Where you choose square wave or saw wave and begin to shape and design an actual synth sounds you would find in a classic synth module and that someone like Vangelis would use and similar to those found on the EHX synth 9 pedal?
From the manual: LIVE EFFECTS (MOMENT+AUTO+LATCH) In LIVE EFFECTS mode the dry signal is routed through the built-in effects of the Superego+ and the internal synth engine is disabled. You cannot freeze sound while in this mode. Use either the EFFECT or BYPASS footswitch to toggle an effect on or off in this mode. The effect signal is routed through the external effects loop after it goes through the Superego+ internal effects.
Is it just me or is your neck pickup mounted upside down? It would seem like you want the rails under the strings you bend and the poles under the strings you don't.
That would seem to make sense, but it’s by design. First question on their FAQ: railhammer.com/faq/ I’m trying to find their patent, that might have some more information about the why/how.
I figured "Superego" came from having a super ego. An ego so big you could listen to yourself infinitely. And then listen to yourself over your...self.
That's a really cool pedal. Actually, umpteen pedals in one. Makes some delicious sounds. And, as a middle aged, follicley challenged fellow, that's some darn nice hair you got.
Happy you didn't ponder upon the hidden meaning behind the Electric Mistress 😏

4 strong wind im so lonely😂
Or the Big Muff.😂
Although there are a lot of great companies developing high-tech guitar effects, no one could surpass the creativity and originality of EHX
They’re definitely not afraid of putting something out, seeing how it does, and the just going “eh, that was fun”

Always love your choices on what to review. Thanks for covering stuff that’s not necessary the newest/shiniest.

Say it all again but slower.
So I can enjoy it even more the second time
Was just contemplating how to do this very thing
I'm doing almost the same thing, but didn't realize you could use the send to split the signal to have a clean and say an organ.

I’d take that dollar!! Yeah, I never really got along with standard loopers, but this I could probably get down with. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for covering this pedal…I love this channel…keep up the good work! You get a big YES for a video about the Tri Parallel Mixer!
That’s two votes for the mixer!!
Another excellent breakdown of an under-examined EHX masterpiece. Bravo!
Thank you so much, Anthony

Thank you so much!!
Great vid explaining this pedal. Easy to watch and thorough. Subbed.
One of the best demos of this pedal I've seen!
I'd love to see your take on the Tri Parallel Mixer! Your vids are excellent combinations of information, music and entertainment. BTW the Superego+ is one of the few pedals I own, can't get enough of it
Tri parallel mixer has piqued my interest too! Fascinating the combos you could come up with
Me too
Thank you so much for making this video! You are literally my favorite pedal channel!
My pleasure! And thank you so much, that means a lot
Great work, love your enthusiasm and down the earth vibe! A++++
Enjoyed how you went into the meaning of super ego 👍
Great vid with a refreshing take, thanks!
Thank you so very much. It’s a fun one.
And the Big Muff is named after...haha! 🤣🤣

Thank you! I hadn’t tried the regular superego before this, I wonder if the tracking engine is any different between the two.
Nicely done! Great tip on the wet/dry idea ✌️😌🎸
Really enjoyed these jams, super cool! ✌️😌🎸

Giving a like before it starts because I'm glad you chose this pedal but I wish I could give another like after. We'll see!
Haha I hope it lived up to your expectations
Interesting pedal. Also, cool to see that guitar, I just got a Reverend Double Agent OG a couple days ago.
Cheers.
Nice. I’m loving this Jetstream, they’re just really fun guitars. I kinda wish the neck was a little slimmer, but other than that, it’s a perfect fit.
Great stuff, as always!
What a fun pedal. I could lose days to this thing.
I would love to see a deep dive into the mixer. Anything EHX, as far as that goes.
Oh yeah! That’s one vote for the mixer
That's a beautiful guitar!
Thank you!!

That was great plus!
I was wondering how can you select the live mode...
Yes to the tri pararell mixer!
Can you do a deep dive into the Big Muff? I think that would be a sweet video.
I have such sights to show you
ruclips.net/video/6KYC4LsF3Go/видео.html
I love it
I love you
I would love to see a video about the try parallel mixer too,
Not the next one, but I think the one after that will be on what you can do with the parallel mixer
Great!
Not the next one, but I think the one after that will be on what you can do with the parallel mixer
I’d say ehx needs a slicer pedal to put in the send/return
Nice demo. Does it do fast tracking? The use seems limited to sound washes only. There's no programmability. I love my SY-200.
It doesn’t really do the fast tracking thing like the SY pedals do. It’s more for the airy pad stuff which… I kinda find the SY-200 doesn’t do all that well. So it kinda works out that way.
Which model is the Reverend. She’s a beauty.
That’s a Reeves Gabrels Signature. It’s an interesting beast.

We’re did u get the octopus thing in the background
Amazon. There’s a bunch, look for jellyfish lava lamp
Good demo. I have the Freeze. For me is enough.
can youu use the effects without using the freeze part?
Watch it again and pay attention, ffs.
What do u mean by "live effects mode"? Please explain?
From the manual:
LIVE EFFECTS (MOMENT+AUTO+LATCH)
In LIVE EFFECTS mode the dry signal is routed through the built-in effects of the Superego+ and the internal synth engine is disabled. You cannot freeze sound while in this mode. Use either the EFFECT or BYPASS footswitch to toggle an effect on or off in this mode. “Pink Freud” is MY joke. 🥺 Lol! 😛

Here’s the Design Patent at least: patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/pdfs/51e6f579701788104491/USD737891.pdf
which expression ped. to use it with????
fuck 😎that found it
I figured "Superego" came from having a super ego. An ego so big you could listen to yourself infinitely. And then listen to yourself over your...self.
Ah, could be. But they did have a lot of Freud imagery in their ads, too
