Nice vid! Actually it popped up as I'm watching this on the 2019 16" mbp on the external monitor while exporting images from the Canon R6 mk2 in Lightroom and it all works really well. You've covered it all. I remember I really needed an upgrade in 2019 but didn't want the infamous keyboard models so I was so happy being able to preorder the 16". Paid 3k euros for it... crazy depreciation happened a year later but given that it really works well for me I felt unnecessary to upgrade. And it still works well.

    pros:
    - large screen
    - fixed shitty keyboard
    - good performance (the best intel macbook you can have), you can specs bump to i9-gen9 / 64gb / 2tb ssd to the best experience
    - great build quality
    - budget price in 2024
    - no notch, everyone hate the notch
    - last x86 macbook, it's mean you can bootcamp to windows
    cons:
    - overheating despite they made bigger heat sink
    - poor battery heath ( not really it's because of intel cpu issue ), at least apple tried to put 100wh battery
    - no SD slot

The problem arises when you can no longer upgrade the OS. That means you won’t be able to upgrade apps, such as the Adobe Suite for graphics. I really wanted to keep my 27” iMac from 2013, for example, but it wouldn’t allow me to keep running Adobe or Logic Pro.

Question guys. I need a windows laptop for school, I currently have a M1 MBA but as you know you can’t use windows on it, only through emulation but the software I need needs x86 and doesn’t run on windows on ARM.
Im thinking about getting this laptop for $600 vs a gaming (similar spec) windows laptop that is 900. With this machine I can use boot camp and that’s a plus.

Ive got a 16" i9 32gb 2tb 5500m which was nearly £5000 when it was new. Its woeful, one hour of a teams call and its dead, its gets so hot doing nothing and is noticeably slower for everything vs my M1 MacBook Air 16gb 1tb. I wouldn't recommend it. Only benefit is the ram and the 5500m plays windows games. Otherwise I would stay well clear.
