On their second long player, FIRES IN THE DISTANCE further expand on their musical foundations of wistful melodicism, crushingly heavy guitar work and intricate atmospherics. Across Air Not Meant For Us’ six tracks, FIRES IN THE DISTANCE tie together intensely personal ruminations on mental health and themes of existentialism in the form of mortality salience, without losing sight of the importance of perseverance.
With a runtime of 51 minutes across six songs, FIRES IN THE DISTANCE’s sophomore effort is a melodic doom and death metal odyssey in both artistic vision and sound.

Addendum to the previous comment: I saw these guys here in Tampa two nights ago, and some heavy stuff had gone down in my life since my previous comment that this song really related to on a personal level. Told them all about it, and they were really cool and appreciative. So yeah; buy their records, buy their merch, and go see their shows if you get the chance.

@YegorSavonin I'm glad I got to meet you guys, too. That whole show, all three bands, but Fires in the Distance in particular was a big part of me actually getting inspired to try and really improve myself as a guitarist, songwriter, and just generally as a musician again.
Album of the year imo.
This song and this album are just peerless to me. I've listened to Metal for over 40 years but this is the most beautiful music, it touches my soul.
I'm only 30 years in, but have similar feelings. Haven't been so excited by a band since I'd discovered the Gothenburg scene back in the late 90s.
I've just found them, and my feelings are exactly the same! I'm blown away!!!

I am 52 years old. Been listening to metal a long time with a love of heavy/melodic music. Every so often a album comes around that blows your mind. For me any Shape of Despair album, An Abstract Illusion "Woe" for example. If I never saw you on a end of year list I probably would have missed one of the most amazing albums ever made. Amazing jobs guys.

Air Not Meant for Us is honestly one of my favorite albums to come out this year and perhaps my favorite album of this genre. So much emotion, such majestic and intricate compositions. This is great music!! And this is coming from someone who listens everything from brutal technical death metal to African blues 😅

I fucking love this video. The lyrics being written, scribbled out, and rewritten. Man, that's the real shit you go through as a songwriter. You obliterate so many ideas that were only half-assed versions of the final thing. You kill the weak versions over and over to make the final version stronger. You accept that a little piece of your life, your pathetic, finite time, died to make something that wasn't fucking good enough and must be obliterated and forgotten in favor of something stronger, better, and more highly evolved. The song grows, and it eats a part of you. That's brutal as fuck and it is METAL.
