@@3d-sbsbestx-tremehdvideos332 He was NEVER "lead guitar" .. just the 'other' guitar player .. RIP "Jeff", the other 25% that made Slayer their iconic sound until 1992 when Dave left. Dont get me wrong, Paul Bostaph absolutely filled Daves's shoes, I'd say a little tight on Paul even, but sincerely speaking of my 30year passion with this band, I don't believe "good solos" , Slayer sound in mind, died with Jeff 1 bit.

The lesson I got from Slayer all this time is "happiness and joy". I got into them during Hell Awaits. I remember riding in my friends car when we picked up our other friend who said." I have Slayer's new album..... It is called Reign In Blood....and it is so fast that it is only 26 minutes long". So We listened in the car while driving. I felt happiness and joy that day.

Probably the most underrated comment in this entire thread. I remember experiencing days that sound so similar to what you described with my friends. We were coming up in the late 90s early 2000s however, so the music involved slayer, but I remember some of our first discoveries as friends of bands like the Berzerker, Avulsed, the Ravinious, the mystery of these harsh and unforgiving unworldly sounds, and traumatic images of gore....what can I say as young teens, for the day to arrive when a friend got a cd in the mail, or the one at the hastings(cd shop) finally came in.....for fucks sake that was happiness for us. Cheers to you Hugo

Strange. Jeff was defintely more versatile and evolving but when you hear his riff you know it is Slayer. Kerry through all their recors played more or less the same way but you'd heard his riff with another drummer and another vocalist you'd say it's just some generic metal band.

Whatever on the comparison, I’m glad king wrote show no mercy, praise of death and piece by piece, all masterpieces by masterpieces. This band launched death metal with haunting the chapel and hell awaits.. and Nothing can dethrone Reign in Blood , so if King co wrote some of the songs, then I’m thankful for it and am in aw of their monumental works. Same goes for Lombardo, who has so many memorable drum lines and Signature riffs, from the solitary single bass beat underlying a haunting riff, to the rapid china type strikes while whipping the snare to give that menacing feeling. And then Araya’s vocals from Reign backward where perfect and if only that remained. Anything anyone of it’s members put out on a early slayer record will always be better than just about anyone else. They are masters of evil Mayhem.
