@curtis allen I think Alex noticed after a few tasks that Paul wasn't one for banter during the tasks, unlike others. So instead he took it to Paul's home turf of quizzing so that they'll have some kind of conversation footage during his tasks.
I love how much fun Iain had in that final task. He looks like he just found his new favorite game and he doesn't even mind that Paul caught up to him because it's making the game more interesting.
I feel like this show has broken Ian and is finally starting to turn him into a better person. Old Ian would've celebrated a task W, but there's only despair in this Ian's eyes.
i had wondered at first, but when greg says "cli" you can see his face scrunch up in what seems to be genuine thought/confusion, and Paul almost instantly honks after the next syllable. Still possible though.
This episode also aired around the time Paul announced his diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (and I assume it was aired at the same time or soon after the studio recording), so it's certainly possible. That said, Iain could've also been worried about losing all his points by guessing incorrectly.
If that was his intention, he didn't do a great job lol. Not guessing on that last word was a winning play, as he was ahead in the episode by 1, and would have won the episode if the last task ended in a tie. Guessing could have secured him the win, but it also could have secured him the loss if he was wrong. By not guessing, he forced Paul to take that risk instead.
Watching Joe do the beach ball task through the finish line using water and then ice, I just couldn't help but love the guy giving how innocent and naive he seemed. So purely enjoyable.

And also he looked genuinely pleased and maybe a little happy teary... or maybe his eyes are always that shiny and I need to get a grip because everyone being so happy for paul made ME happy for everyone!
Iain arguably held back a tiny bit towards the end to make sure it’s not impossible for anyone to catch him, but I think it’s also fair to say Paul caught up to Iain by his own merit. And i agree it’s very sporting of Iain, considering how competitive he was in earlier episodes

I really do think he cut Lou way too much slack on this season.

10:00 I'm impressed with Paul's knowledge of the US state capitals with seemingly no effort.
Paul has spent years memorizing this stuff. I'm sure if you tried, you could too - Paul just loves doing it so it's probably easier for him.
Joe is spacing throughout the whole episode and is so relatable while doing it. truly a great guy
Okay but like there's just *so* much they didn't touch on on Joe's ball task.
1) Why did he think he had to duck under the start line?
2) Why did he abandon that notion, but only *after* doing it multiple times?
C) Why think gently pouring from pot push ball up hill *after* having had at least a dozen trips with a planter to learn how ball work?
4) The ice thing was so great! If only he hadn't had 16 minutes to think of it, i'd be be so impressed! Such a good idea. But... y'know... monkeys on a typewriter, on a long enough timeline...
5) Why throw ice. WHY. WHY THROW ICE.sdnklfgag joe what are you doing to me joe JOE PLEASE JOE
Oh Joe. Oh dear, dear Joe. Oh let me cradle you and keep you safe, precious Joe.
"A'right?"
"Pardon?"
"Aw right?...All right?"
1. Might have been for comedic effect?
2. If my response to 1 is correct, then you can only repeat a joke so many times before it gets old.
C. 3?
4. I'd argue that, since we have different words for ice and water, ice shouldn't qualify as water.
Lou and Joe having a competition for who has the least control of their face

If a team had successfully ran away and hid from the team ball task entirely they would have won.
I was just thinking that!
As soon as I heard the rules, I wondered if the green balls would be the deciding factor, but I (and they) didn't know how many of each ball there would be, how they'd be launched, or where. It's easy to say in hindsight, but they had no way of knowing. Also hiding from the task would have been much less fun to watch. :)
I thought of it as well. In fact I also thought that Paul would come up with that as he did come with such an idea during live task in hoola-hoops
@@abhijeetraut6427 Well, since all the other tasks were recorded much earlier, maybe he learned his lesson from the team task and applied it live. :)
Or, just cover the entire bit of grass. Once the balls stop, just sort it out later and green don't touch grass either
Sian and Joe are such a lovely mother and son team.
He's only 7 years younger. 😆She's 44 and he 37. Was shocked when I learnt that in the comments of last week's episode. He looks much younger.
@@janal6984 Holy crap, he actually is 37. How's that even possible?
@@janal6984 He's got the looks of a college boy just graduating and being all like "well, now what.".

@@janal6984 I think it's more than just his appearance. The way he talks, moves and even how he holds himself while standing still, it's all very reminiscent of a young adult growing into his own skin, so he does look and feel like an awkward college kid.

Paul was impressive with the state capitals.

The reaction of everybody about Sian cheating in the balltask just was so priceless.
I absolutely love it
that was the most exciting I think a final task has ever been! and Paul throwing the cash up to someone in the audience? amazing.
I feel like this show has broken Ian and is finally starting to turn him into a better person. Old Ian would've celebrated a task W, but there's only despair in this Ian's eyes.
Iain seemed to be the only one who had ever used a hose attachment before 😂
And I foolish thought the English loved gardening!
Anyone else think Iain lost on purpose at the end so Paul could win an episode?
I think it's definitely possible. He didn't seem that upset to lose.
He seems like a good enough bloke to do that, I hope you're right cuz Paul deserved a win
i had wondered at first, but when greg says "cli" you can see his face scrunch up in what seems to be genuine thought/confusion, and Paul almost instantly honks after the next syllable.
Iain showed a lot of growth and humility letting Paul have that last word. Very cool of him.
It's hard to say whether he "let" him have it or not. Maybe he genuinely couldn't think of a word.
“Hammering away like an aquatic sewing machine” is MY favorite quote of this season…
Watching Joe do the beach ball task through the finish line using water and then ice, I just couldn't help but love the guy giving how innocent and naive he seemed. So purely enjoyable.
People say Iain is too competitive but look at Lou at 40:07. There are other such instances too
Serotonin is stored in the Taskmaster theme tune
I can't help by think Iain let him have it, his competitiveness notwithstanding.
I think he may have held back his competitiveness (partially because he seems to regret angry-shouty Iain. And also he looked genuinely pleased and maybe a little happy teary... or maybe his eyes are always that shiny and I need to get a grip because everyone being so happy for paul made ME happy for everyone!
I got a similar impression - Iain just seemed to be holding back the entire second half of that task, and looked genuinely happy that Paul won.
I think maybe he hoped Paul would be wrong and losing all his points by answering first
You can also turn around to seemingly talk to Paul as they left the stage
Iain arguably held back a tiny bit towards the end to make sure it’s not impossible for anyone to catch him, but I think it’s also fair to say Paul caught up to Iain by his own merit. And i agree it’s very sporting of Iain, considering how competitive he was in earlier episodes

Line of the episode: "... You've written PHIL!"
@curtis allen They were asked to make a picture of the contestant, and nowhere in Lou's sand was there even an attempt to draw a person (unless that mass of blobs to the right is supposed to be Phil, in which case that's even worse). Writing someone's name, or drawing a picture of what their name sounds like is not drawing a picture of them. I think that attempt was barely worthy of one point, let alone two.
